Dogwoof launches the official trailer and poster for 'FOLKTALES', a life-affirming and heartwarming new documentary from Academy Award®-nominated filmmakers Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (Jesus Camp, One of Us).

Premiering at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, 'FOLKTALES' follows a group of teenagers who come together at a traditional folk high school in Arctic Norway. Facing the challenges of a remote environment, they must rely on themselves, each other, and a loyal pack of sled dogs — growing in unexpected and transformative ways.

🎥 Synopsis: In Norse mythology, the three “Norns” weave the threads of fate. Today, Pasvik Folk High School in northern Norway offers its students a chance to shape their own futures. 'FOLKTALES' tells the story of teenagers spending an unconventional “gap year” learning dog-sledding and wilderness survival while searching for purpose and connection. Guided by patient teachers and a yard full of Siberian huskies, they form deep relationships with the land, the animals, and each other.

00:00Everyone says that teenage years are supposed to be like the best years of
00:08your life. In a lot of ways, you feel powerless. Chaos. You're figuring out your life.
00:17We are so glad to see you here, students. We are a small school, but we have had students
00:31from all over the world. Swim! We live now in a modern world. Things are going quite fast,
00:41but we still have the same brain as we had 10,000 years ago. This year, we really hope
00:48that we can wake up your Stone Age brain.
01:04I said a lot of times I can't do this. It is a lot of work. There's no way out of that.
01:11The dogs teach us to be more human, maybe more patient. Just being with the dogs makes
01:22you so happy you don't feel lonely.
01:41Little help.
01:49I don't see you.
