00:00Well, at least Spirit didn't break this six times.
00:03Here's your spooky spawn in Spirit Halloween, Halloween 2, Michael Myers, Light a Pumpkin Statue.
00:27Illuminate the night with terror.
00:28This officially licensed Michael Myers Light a Pumpkin Statue from Halloween 2 is hauntingly
00:33detailed, featuring the chilling face of the iconic slasher Michael Myers glowing eerily.
00:38The perfect way to add a spine-tingling touch to your Halloween decor or horror collection.
00:42It was the night he came home.
00:44Luckily, though, he came home in one piece.
00:45Before that, we get a closer look, a second look at the Spirit Halloween, Halloween 2,
00:49Michael Myers Light a Pumpkin.
00:51We're going to take the tape measure.
00:52We're going to see how tall this stands.
00:53Now, this is a relook in the sense that we've already looked at a Halloween pumpkin before
00:57from Spirit Halloween, but if you have, though, following my exploits, what, about a year
01:01or so ago?
01:01The first one I ordered, I ordered directly from eBay because Spirit Halloween had sold
01:05it out.
01:06Unfortunately, though, the seller chose to ship it inside of a box with nothing more than
01:10a single sheet of tissue paper.
01:11No, I'm not kidding at all.
01:14Don't worry.
01:14I'll be bringing that pumpkin in so you guys can see the damage done to that Michael Myers.
01:18But in the meantime, though, let's take the tape measure and see how tall the more pristine
01:21Michael Myers Light a Pumpkin actually is.
01:23It's 10 inches, 10 inches from the bottom of its mouth to the top of its stem.
01:27That's going to translate, though, to it being roughly about 25 centimeters tall.
01:32And if we follow the straight line moving over to the Myers house, we'll just slide over
01:36the better, better conditioned pumpkin and bring in the earlier one that we've looked at.
01:41Now, I don't know really if the camera is doing proper justice or injustice to the damage
01:46again done to the whole front face of this jack-o'-lantern.
01:49This seller, I kid you not, it may seem, though, the way that I'm saying this, that I'm
01:53exaggerating.
01:54I can't stand, though, people that exaggerate their stories elaborating them a lot more
01:58than they need to be.
01:59I kid you not, though, this jack-o'-lantern did arrive to my doorstep in a box, that box.
02:04When I picked it up, it just rattled.
02:06And I thought to myself, what exactly did I order that had all these tiny little pieces
02:10inside?
02:10Well, it was supposed to be only one piece.
02:14It just so happened, though, that the seller just decided, oh, single sheet of tissue paper.
02:18That'll do.
02:19Not packing peanuts.
02:20Not additional bubble wrap.
02:22Nothing more than just, again, a single sheet, about yay big, of crumpled-up tissue paper that
02:27just sat around loose, as much looseness as the individual broken pieces on the front
02:32of this pumpkin.
02:33Now, you'll see, though, that on the front of this, this is completely shattered.
02:37I mean, again, I've done my best to try to salvage what little I could.
02:40The whole front of the cheek was completely caved in.
02:43This whole front-bottom jaw, in fact, was completely missing and sitting inside the
02:46box.
02:47I had to glue all of this.
02:48I glued the top.
02:49I mean, some could really say, though, that there's more character to be made than with
02:53the new, with the original pumpkin, in the sense that it looks fractured, like Michael
02:58Meyer's psyche.
02:59I know I could still say that.
03:00I could walk away thinking to myself, you know, even if I only have just this jack-o'-lantern,
03:04it does look still cool, but it still bothered me.
03:07It ate away at my soul, the fact that I couldn't have a pristine-looking jack-o'-lantern.
03:11So I ended up ordering another one.
03:13I will say, though, there are considerable changes, really, between the two, and it really
03:17is more just from a pumpkin-to-pumpkin standpoint.
03:19I would think, though, that somebody's probably hand-painting these.
03:22By the way, the material that they ended up using for this, and this is one issue I kind
03:26of also really had with this as well, it's polyresin.
03:29Polyresin stone powder.
03:31I think right away, though, anything like that, shipping, though, without the proper care
03:35and consideration, yeah, obviously would have arrived to anybody's doorstep in a fractured
03:40state that it would be.
03:41I think they could have easily also pulled this off in a plastic material or a foam material.
03:45But again, I will say, though, at least using it in polyresin, there is more of a substantial
03:50feel.
03:50It feels like a better quality statue.
03:52It just means that it's going to arrive a little bit more damaged.
03:54Now, before, though, we actually look at the one that at least does function, because
03:58this does, it's supposed to have lit up.
04:00I don't even have, like, do I have the light source anymore?
04:02I may have even just thrown that out.
04:04There was, in fact, actually a little bottom light-up base.
04:07This one, actually, just the way it arrived, you can see the whole bottom section is just
04:11completely caved in.
04:12This is all completely cracked.
04:14Needless to say, though, again, like, it's not going to be doing much in the way of lighting
04:16up.
04:16I think I may have gotten it to light up in the original review of it.
04:19But color-wise, though, this one's a little bit nicer.
04:22I will say, like, the brighter colors of the orange, it looks more like a pumpkin.
04:26This one feels, even though this is clearly a better-looking conditioned pumpkin, there are
04:30more, like, darker elements to it.
04:32It doesn't feel as fresh and alive, and it doesn't feel as vibrant of an orange.
04:35And also, too, like, spinning this around, if you look at the back of these, both of
04:39them, by the way, will have Halloween, too.
04:41The paint, though, isn't the greatest, though, on the new one.
04:44There's a lot of, like, pasty areas where maybe too much paint was applied.
04:48It looks definitely a lot more cleaner, though, on the back for the Halloween, too.
04:51It's unfortunately, though, a trade-off.
04:52I mean, what I could always really do is display one back-facing like this, so it says
04:57Halloween, too.
04:58Whoops.
04:58And then have the other one then displayed, not to crack the two together, have the other
05:02one displayed front-faced like this.
05:03So, again, like, if you do manage to pick up the pumpkins for yourself, the colors may,
05:07though, yeah, vary from one to the other, but I'm definitely still happier.
05:10Even if I lose the benefit of a brighter orange pumpkin, at least I get the benefit of a better-looking
05:14face.
05:15Turns out I didn't end up throwing out the light-up base.
05:17This would be the base from the original Shattered Jack-O-Lantern.
05:20Because there was so very little of it on the bottom to hold this in place, this always
05:24frequently fell off.
05:25It's supposed to, though, use three AAA batteries, and it really is supposed to light up.
05:29So, the changing of the batteries, again, is just a case of opening up the compartment.
05:33I have since, though, removed the batteries because, again, like, it flickered from time
05:37to time, but it never really properly worked.
05:39I mean, you would just think, though, with nothing properly securing the Jack-O-Lantern,
05:42not only would it be moving around inside the box, I mean, if you were with any carriers
05:47that weren't properly caring for these packages, just imagine, if you will, just a thin sheet
05:51of tissue paper, and somebody's kicking this inside of a truck, just chucking it onto
05:55the floor, this poor light and the base of the pumpkin that was attached to it stood
06:00no chance whatsoever.
06:01But there's the light source right here.
06:03This would, again, normally illuminate in a perfect world, but we're just going to move
06:06that off to the side.
06:07We at least have, though, the benefit of this actually lighting up.
06:09In case, though, you are curious as to how much this actually was, it's $46.99 currently
06:14on Spirit Halloween's site.
06:15Now, that's U.S. dollars.
06:17Going, though, to their site, I thought to myself this year, maybe I'll just see on the
06:20off chance that Spirit Halloween happens to have another Jack-O-Lantern available, and they
06:24marked it down.
06:25$46.99 marked it down, though.
06:27And then, again, because that's U.S. dollars, the conversion still has to cut in.
06:30Shipping costs get tacked on top of that as well.
06:33Even though it's $46.99 sounds good on paper, $46.99 still translates to well over $100 to
06:38get this Jack-O-Lantern to my doorstep.
06:41It did, though, arrive, to be fair, though, in two halves of Styrofoam.
06:44So, essentially, you're sandwiching the Jack-O-Lantern in between two sheets, two large chunk
06:50blocks of Styrofoam just to protect it.
06:52And it did arrive a-okay, a-okay.
06:54The batteries are already still installed in the Jack-O-Lantern.
06:57There's actually several different settings.
06:58There's a Try Me, which is right now on.
07:00I know it doesn't really look like it's on.
07:02And there's also the off and on.
07:04On will leave it on all the time.
07:06If you leave it still to the Try, then you still rely, then, on the battery on the side
07:09or the little button on the side.
07:11I haven't yet removed it because I did want to kind of keep this on just to show you guys
07:14what this actually looks like.
07:15On the side, though, again, this may seem like deja vu, a little redundant.
07:19But we have the Halloween 2 statue, Spirit Halloween, and we have a Try Me button.
07:23The Try Me button works in a way that, while it's still in Try, you press the button, and
07:27it illuminates.
07:30If you hold it, though, it will continue to do what it's doing right now.
07:34Lighting flickering its way.
07:36And then you just turn that off.
07:38Now, that would be fine and good.
07:39I suppose, really, what you could also do, too, is take this entire tag off.
07:43Still keep it attached to the bottom of the base.
07:45But unloop it, obviously, from the top of the stem, because nobody really wants to see that.
07:49If you have it, for example, like on your shelf, and you still have the button accessible,
07:54then, yeah, for all intents and purposes, you could just hold the button, maybe even have
07:57it alongside your shelf, hold the button, turn it on, again, see what it needs to do,
08:02and just let go of the button without having to always constantly lift up the jack-o-lan
08:06to access the switch.
08:08Let's say for this, though, because, again, we want to provide as best of an in-depth review
08:12as we can.
08:12To look on, though, the bottom of the base, there is, again, a little pull tab.
08:16So this is, again, what's going to be attaching to the button.
08:19This is going to be activating the Tri-Me.
08:20So if we want to remove that, though, just attach it like that.
08:24The batteries are still intact, though.
08:26There's still three AAA batteries.
08:28If I can show you, though, on the bottom, not only do you get rubberized feet to, again,
08:31preventing any scratching on surfaces, but you've got the Tri-Me, you've got an off,
08:34and you've got an on.
08:36Right now, it's not going to be doing anything.
08:37It's not going to be doing anything, either, if you set it to off.
08:40Setting it, though, to on is really where it's going to be doing all its stuff.
08:43The bottom of this, it does say it's made in China, Universal City Studios, LLC.
08:48And, of course, we've already kind of looked at the front.
08:50We'll spend some time quickly looking at the front again.
08:53I love this pumpkin.
08:54You know, again, like, I could have just saved the money and not got myself another one
08:58and just be content with a fractured face.
09:00But, again, like, who really in their right mind?
09:02I mean, unless you don't really have the fun to pick up a second one, kind of walk away
09:05a little stung by the idea that the seller would have shipped something in such a bad
09:09state like that.
09:10But if you can get something as a replacement, I think most people probably wouldn't be able
09:14to settle with the idea that any collectible, anything for that matter, whether it be a
09:17pumpkin or whether it be a statue, a figure, if it arrives to your doorstep, you can't
09:22just sit there and have this on the shelf and think to yourself, well, I'll just keep
09:25overlooking the fact that it's broken.
09:27You, in your mind, even if somebody tells you, I like the way it's actually got cracking,
09:30it's got some character on the front of the face.
09:32You know yourself, it's going to eat away at you.
09:34The front of the face, though, again, is pretty pristine.
09:37I got a few little marks here on the cheek, but I could chalk that up just to the way that
09:41it's designed.
09:42Obviously, though, this isn't necessarily the way that we see the pumpkin at the opening
09:45credits of Halloween 2.
09:46Rather, though, instead, it's the Halloween 2 poster where we see the skeleton on the front
09:50of the face.
09:51It's all in all really well detailed.
09:53I mean, again, it doesn't have maybe as bright of an orange as perhaps the original pumpkin
09:57that I already had looked at.
09:58The one thing, again, as mentioned already, it's pretty pasty right here.
10:03Like, it had to be something, right?
10:05It's pretty clean here with the A all the way then to the N.
10:09It gets pasty again.
10:11I guess somebody has gone in there and had to hand paint these, but it's pretty rough
10:15shape here in the 2, the Roman numeral 2, and it's pretty rough right here in the H.
10:20Other than that, though, it's got some nice airbrushing of a darker orange in there.
10:23I mean, it looks really nice.
10:25You know, again, it's only as if I could probably have Frankenstein, the two pumpkins together,
10:29where one could have looked a little bit brighter of an orange, and then I could have just had
10:32the benefit of that not being broken.
10:34It's funny, though.
10:35After I had ordered this one from Spirit and after it had already arrived, I end up going
10:40to Spencer's Gifts at one of my local malls.
10:43I shouldn't even say like a local mall.
10:44It's about 25 minutes away.
10:46It's a place that I generally don't go.
10:48Every once in a while, I may go, but I just happen to have gone during Halloween.
10:51Sure enough, though, as I walked through the door and looking at the t-shirts and all the
10:56other things that Spencer sells, a lot of like novelty items, a lot of horror related items,
11:00a lot of t-shirts, though.
11:01They just happened as I walked through the front door.
11:04I turned to the side and looked over to the corner and they had one of these, one of the
11:09jack-o'-lanterns actually sitting in pristine condition on their shelf.
11:13Well, sure enough, it's always after the fact.
11:15I mean, you know, when you end up buying something online, it's always then the time that you go into
11:19a store, you go someplace, then you wouldn't have normally gone.
11:23And there always happens to be the very same thing that you end up ordering.
11:26Yeah, again, I probably could have saved a little bit of extra money, but what would
11:29be the likelihood I'd ever find this thing in the wild?
11:32You know, all in all, it looks really good.
11:33I mean, like if you're a big fan of the original Halloween 2 poster, especially the skull in
11:37the front of the pumpkin, this does the job really nicely.
11:40And again, it does have the benefit of a light-up feature.
11:43So, what we'll do carefully, we'll switch this over again, like we're going to bypass
11:48altogether the try-me, skip right over the off, and we'll go right to on.
11:53Now, on the inside, though, of the pumpkin, I'm hoping, though, that you're able to actually
11:56see this, there's the illumination of the bright light on the inside.
11:59It flickers naturally, though, what a candle should normally do.
12:03It flickers like more of a bright yellow.
12:06You know, again, I think yellow's fine.
12:08Maybe more of an orange probably would have worked a little bit better.
12:11But I will say, though, at least it is a lot brighter.
12:13We're going to be also cutting the lights in a second so you guys can see the differences
12:16and just how much nicer this looks.
12:19You could also entertain the idea if you wanted to put this out during trick-or-treating during
12:23the hallows season.
12:24But, I mean, why would you ever really want to put this outside just for the risk that
12:27somebody walked by and just happened to kick the front of this?
12:30It would just completely cave this in.
12:32Yeah, the material, though, of being polyresin does make this a little bit more of a fragile
12:35piece.
12:35This would be still one that, if I was to put it on the shelf, which I have all the plans
12:39to do, this would be definitely one you want to make sure that you're putting on a stable
12:42shelf with a wide enough footprint that this thing isn't going to teeter at all.
12:47The material probably could have, yes, been foam.
12:49It probably, yes, could have also been plastic.
12:51Polyresin, again, does have, again, like more of a quality feel to it.
12:54So I understand, though, maybe why Spirit Halloween would have done that.
12:57The thing about it, though, is if you buy this in the store, you want to make sure,
13:01though, that you're taking it home with the proper packaging and care.
13:03If you're also ordering this online, order it directly from Spirit Halloween, or what
13:08you could also do, too, and I should have really done this at the very beginning, so
13:11I never even had this problem in the first place.
13:13When you do buy this, like, from an eBay seller, just ask them if they have the original packaging.
13:17Ask them, though, if they have still the styrofoam halves, just to make sure that this does
13:22arrive to your doorstep.
13:23I'm not stung by the idea.
13:25I mean, the guy did, to be fair, offer up later a refund, but by then, he had already given
13:30you that, I had already kind of, he had given me the offer to give me the refund, so I said
13:35to myself, okay, you know, the refund is fine, and I ended up using the money, and I bought
13:39something else for it, and then, sure enough, a week later, that's what ended up happening.
13:42A week later, he said to me, you know, I have an extra pumpkin.
13:45I'm willing to send it to you if you're obviously willing to buy it again.
13:48Sure enough, by then, I didn't have the money, so, you know, again, it probably was my own
13:52fault.
13:52I think, though, the biggest fault for me would have been I should have really asked the seller
13:56in the first place if you had still the original packaging.
13:58He should have never really shipped it in the state that he is.
14:02Needless to say, though, I mean, with a whole lot of yammering on, here's the look of the
14:06pumpkin.
14:06The pumpkin looks, again, fantastic.
14:07I love that it does light up the way it does.
14:09It's a little on the more messier side.
14:11It's kind of really hard to kind of see on the inside of it.
14:14I've got a few little, can you see it there, a few little globs of glue kind of trickling
14:18on the inside, but again, it's not really something, again, you're going to be seeing.
14:22I've got a few little, like, remaining bits of styrofoam that are also left still behind
14:26in there, but again, it's something at least that I can have to do.
14:28For a long period of time on, this would be great for my collection room, my movie room.
14:33Again, whether you want to actually have this, though, with a try-me switch on, I probably
14:37would not recommend, for obvious reasons, having that attached still to the stem, but
14:40if you want to have the try-me, just have that sitting inside, sitting alongside the
14:44pumpkin, and then you just be able to press it on and off that way without constantly,
14:48constantly having to lift up the pumpkin to turn on and off the switch.
14:51With that all being said, though, let's go ahead and cut the lights and see what this
14:54looks like in the dark.
14:55I admit, though, with the lights cut off, it's a little less impressive.
14:58You're not really getting the full experience of seeing what the jack-o'-lantern actually
15:01looks like with the lights all cut out.
15:03I mean, I would certainly say maybe cut some of the lights, but completely pitch black state
15:06like this.
15:07The only thing that you're really benefiting seeing with the jack-o'-lantern is the
15:10mouth, the eyes, and the nasal cavities.
15:13Still, that's what it looks like on the inside with the lights still flickering away.
15:16What's kind of also an interesting thing about the pumpkin being a polyresin is if you can
15:20see it there from the top, and you may not even be able to pick that up with the camera,
15:24the actual top shell of the pumpkin does also illuminate, so you can see a little bit of
15:28the light bleeding through.
15:29Under most conditions, I'm sure most collectors probably wouldn't have it in a dark state
15:32like this, because again, you lose a lot of the charm and the fun with this being a
15:36jack-o'-lantern with a big skull in the front of the face, because the only thing you
15:40really can see is the skull with the eyes, the nasal cavity, and the mouth.
15:43I was hoping I was able to find the original invoice from Spirit Halloween of when I did
15:46originally order the Halloween II Michael Myers pumpkin.
15:48Sure enough, I couldn't find it, but $46.99 plus your tax, plus your exchange rate, plus
15:54your shipping costs.
15:55This, again, probably set me back, I think, about $112.
15:58So that's unfortunately, though, the plight that I have to deal with as being a Canadian
16:01collector.
16:02It's never really just the price of what they're selling these for.
16:05Now, I really should have gone when I went into Spencer's, asked the person what the pumpkin
16:08was selling for.
16:09Sure enough, they had only one of them, but they didn't have a listed price on it.
16:13I mean, again, like in hindsight, yeah, walking over and just out of curiosity, seeing what
16:16the price was actually going for, maybe, though, I didn't really want to know.
16:20Maybe it would have been even more of a sting to know that if I just had waited it out,
16:24and it never really is the case, had I just waited it out, I could have just grabbed one
16:28at a local store.
16:29Well, not so local, at least 25 minutes away.
16:32The pumpkin, though, isn't perfect.
16:34And again, unfortunately, that's one of the trade-offs of getting now, though, one that
16:37has a pristine face, is that some of the paint, especially on the back of the Halloween
16:40II logo, is rough.
16:42I'm not likely going to be seeing it from the back anyways.
16:45What I will be doing, though, is seeing it from the way you're seeing it right now.
16:48Fully illuminated, on the shelf, with all the rest of my horror collectibles.
16:52You know, again, like when I had picked up this pumpkin, it finally did arrive.
16:56Part of me thought to myself, do I really even need to do a re-review of this, because I've
16:59already looked at it before.
17:00But with the way that the original one arrived, and just the bad memories and bad attachment
17:04that I had to knowing that that seller shipped it the way that he did, I felt like I wanted
17:08to vindicate at least the review by looking at a proper one, a proper pumpkin.
17:12Even though, again, it cost me, again, to buy this pumpkin the second time around, at
17:16least now I can finally have a jack-o'-lantern that sits on the shelf in the way that it
17:21was intended to be the first time that Spirit Halloween sold it.
17:24I would certainly say, though, when it comes to any collectibles, when you're buying anything
17:28in an aftermarket, just ask, though, the seller, especially like an eBay seller, like
17:32if something is fragile like this, ask how they're going to be shipping it.
17:36Or sometimes do, if you're ordering anything from a Facebook seller, and they're going
17:40to be shipping something to you, if I ever sell something to a person on Facebook, I
17:44usually always provide photos of how the thing is being packaged.
17:48It's not only just for the security for them to know, okay, it's going to be arriving to
17:51me in the way that the person was selling in the first place, but it also is reassurance.
17:55It's assurance to the seller, knowing, though, that the person on the other end can't just
17:58say, hey, buddy, this arrived, and it was completely shattered.
18:01You can then at least show them photos.
18:03Well, no, it was carefully wrapped.
18:05I wrapped it very well in bubble wrap and added all the additional packing material, so it
18:09should have never arrived, unless maybe the seller was just kicking around the box, which
18:13may have also even added insult to injury, and maybe that was the reasoning why that
18:18jack-o-lantern arrived that it did.
18:19But if you're picking up a box and it feels and sounds like it's rattling inside, that's
18:24never a good sign.
18:26What do you guys, though, think of the jack-o-lantern from Spirit Halloween?
18:29Now, I know, again, this pumpkin came out well over a year or so ago.
18:33I'm finally now getting a chance to look at a proper review, get a proper review out there
18:37for you guys.
18:38But let me know, guys, if you order this online, or if you were lucky enough to find
18:42this in the stores.
18:43I will say, as of right now, I've only ever seen one of the jack-o-lanterns in a brick-and-mortar
18:49Spirit Halloween store.
18:50And wouldn't you know it also, it was broken.
18:52I don't think it was broken from the front of the face, but it had a big, long crack on the
18:56side.
18:57And I thought, no, I'm just going to rather order one online that I know it's going to
19:00arrive in better condition.
19:02That big sucker me for doing that.
19:04If you guys did enjoy this video, yeah, if you guys did, do it a saw and throw it a like.
19:08You guys want to stick around for more so?
19:09I certainly hope so.
19:11I know we're kind of coming to the close when it comes to spooky-related videos and
19:14Spottober, but I hope that you guys are going to be coming back for more videos, because
19:18they're always going to be coming your way.
19:19As always, guys, thanks for watching.
19:21See you guys next time.
19:26See you guys next time.
19:37See you guys next time.
19:38Bye bye bye bye.
