00:00Typhoon Tino left in his wake a casualty toll of 188 thus far, which still keeps adding up.
00:06Worse, at least 135 individuals are still unaccounted for.
00:10To be sure, the extent of Tino's damage is far and wide,
00:14with nearly 2.5 million adversely affected in 32 provinces, as our Harley Valguena reports.
00:22This sinkhole appeared in Cebu after tropical cyclone Tino ravaged the province.
00:29In an aerial inspection conducted by the Office of Civil Defense or OCD,
00:34the extent of the devastation was apparently seen.
00:38Houses were damaged, and many vehicles were submerged and covered in mud.
00:43According to OCD, the reported deaths due to Tino reached 188.
00:49Cebu tops the death toll with 139.
00:53135 are missing, while almost 100 are injured.
00:57Over 2.4 million individuals, or 680,000 families, are affected from 32 provinces in 8 regions.
01:07The OCD is able to provide P127 million worth of assistance,
01:12along with continuous search, rescue, and clearing operations.
01:16Meanwhile, disaster response agencies are also integrating preparation efforts for tropical cyclone Fongwong,
01:25or locally known as U1, which is expected to intensify into a super typhoon.
01:31Ang areas of concern natin ay talagang itong northern Luzon, regions 1, CAR 2, 3, Calabarzon, and region 5.
01:41Kasi napakalaki po nitong bagyong ito, and it might even reach yung rain bands niya.
01:47Kung bababa pa siya, pwede pong umabot sa region 6, NIR, 7, and region 8.
01:55The OCD advises those who flee during tropical cyclone Tino not to return to their homes yet as the super typhoon looms closer.
02:04Dito sa region 7, marami pong nasiraan ng bahay.
02:08So we really have to fast track yung pag-establish ng mga evacuation centers natin that can withstand itong pag-uulan na ito.
02:19So we have already activated our camp management cluster.
02:24The OCD explained that in the middle of a super typhoon, telecommunication services and internet connection may be hampered.
02:33The Department of Social Welfare and Development moreover estimates around 8.4 million people to be affected by the super typhoon.
02:42The Department of Environment and Natural Resources meanwhile warned more than 8,000 barangays are susceptible to floods and landslides.
02:51Since lands in many areas were still wet and saturated due to continuous rains in the past days.
02:58In terms of recorded rainfall from November 1 to 6, marami po sa mga propinsya ang nagkaroon ng or naapektoan ng accumulated rainfall na in excess of 150 millimeters.
03:10Hanggat meron tayong oversaturation ng mga ground, there's still a possibility na magkaroon ng landslides sa kanilang lugar.
03:16To mitigate the impact of the super typhoon, the Department of Health raised a blue alert status to coordinate all their medical units across regions with medical supplies prepositioned, such as paracetamol and antibiotics.
03:31The DSWD also said it has 2.7 billion pesos worth of stockpiled food and non-food items available plus standby funds.
03:42As a precaution, the public is advised to defer their trips this weekend and stock at least 3 days worth of food and essential items at home.
