More than 8000 people auditioned for the part of Ivan Drago. Dolph Lundgren was one of them and was rejected by casting directors because he was too tall. Later, when he met Sylvester Stallone, he shared his photos with him. Stallone was so impressed that he told him he had a good chance of getting the role, only if he gained 20 pounds of muscle.
