Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) Function, Location, Testing & Cleaning Explained
Transcript
00:00Today we'll learn about the intake air temperature sensor, also known as the IAT sensor.
00:06This small sensor plays a big role in your engine's performance.
00:10It measures the temperature of air entering the engine and sends this information to the ECU.
00:15The ECU uses IAT readings to calculate how much fuel to inject.
00:21Cold air is dense and has more oxygen, so the ECU increases fuel for better combustion.
00:28Hot air is thinner, so the ECU reduces fuel to maintain balance.
00:32The IAT sensor is usually located in the air intake duct near the air filter or built into the MAF sensor.
00:39Inside, it has a tiny thermistor that changes its resistance according to air temperature, high resistance in cold, low resistance in heat.
00:48A dirty or faulty IAT sensor can cause incorrect temperature readings.
00:53This leads to poor fuel economy, hard starting, rough idling and the check engine light.
01:00You can easily test your IAT sensor with a multimeter.
01:05Disconnect the sensor connector.
01:07Set the multimeter to resistance mode, O Amps.
01:11At room temperature, it should show 2k, 3k Ohms.
01:15Heat the sensor gently.
01:16Resistance should drop.
01:17If it doesn't change or reads 0, infinity, the sensor is bad.
01:22If the sensor is just dirty, clean it with a MAF cleaner.
01:25Never touch the sensing tip.
01:27If damaged, replace it with a new one and clear error codes from the ECU.
01:31So, the indicator can be captured about stress.
01:32Riding, the engineer can be attached to surface as a space освane in the heating sea.
01:36Then there is something to reduceowy Beds and data recovery codes from the ECU.
01:42Combine is the sensor connector that!?
01:49Let's call it to the sensor module.
01:51Communication.
01:53It will reach theį»§.
01:53If the sensor does not apply to Fire testament.
01:54Because it's the sensor module with one on the side of the screen,
01:56please contact the radio for the MOSCO cord.
01:57Let's know.
01:59If anybody does any above the radio limit,
