00:04In this classic 1986 candy test, the Pakistan skipper turned the pitch into his personal
00:10theatre of dominance.
00:12Balling with fierce rhythm and trademark control, Imran Khan ripped through Sri Lankan's stop
00:17order, finishing with a brilliant 3-for-20 in just nine hours.
00:21The line-hearted leader sent back Siddharth Patmini, the ever-promising Aravinda De Silva,
00:27and the experienced Philippe Mendes, all undone by the pace, precision and pure class.
00:33What made this spell even more special was the milestone it carried, Imran Khan claimed
00:38his 250th test wicket, etching his name ever deeper into cricketing history.
00:57Imran Khan took it out of Vatamuni.
01:13And Vatamuni is gone, ruled LBW, the second delivery of the morning.
01:19ball came back on Vatamuni, and Vatamuni is shuffling across the crease, wrapped on the
01:28pad, and umpire Panadurai rules Siddharth Patmini out.
01:32So Sri Lanka losing their first wicket.
01:37First run of the morning for Sri Lanka, De Silva going on the back foot and pushing it,
01:48with Dr. Nazar from Gully, that's the fielding.
01:52It's fielded by Kazimoma.
02:13And Aravinda Silva is out, De Silva attempting to pull that.
02:27The ball went over the top of his bat, very close to it.
02:32A loud appeal from the Pakistan Sealsman, and Sri Lanka have lost their second wicket.
02:37The new batsman kind, and that will push on leg jump, and I'm also got a slider distance,
02:50down to find legs, picked up by Vatamakran, very good return.
03:04That's a good ball cutting to dive, but rather high, sticking high on the, throwing down the
03:12leg side, and these two have not only saved Sri Lanka on many occasions, but have in fact
03:22put Sri Lanka into a winning position.
03:28cover, mid-wicket, and a soft twerler to the catch.
03:39And that is a very elegant stroke indeed, very elegant stroke, typical diet,
03:49push to mid-wicket, where he leans forward, rolls his wrist over.
04:05And that ball is picked up outside your stump.
04:18And that ball is picked up outside your stump.
04:24left is overpicked, and Mendes attempting to square drive it, didn't quite get hold of it,
04:38and Khan coming in for his face over.
04:46There's no way you can hold that delivery to do it, Mendes.
04:50Ain't a jump, short outside your stump.
05:02In the air, and a brilliant patch by Mudasa,
05:08to let Mendes go, and Sri Lanka are in real trouble.
05:12Mendes, not getting across to the pitch of the ball, went through with the drive, hitting
05:22it to the right of Mudassar Nasa, standing at square gully, and Mudassar threw himself
05:28to his right and has launched a brilliant catch.
05:32The Leap Mendes decision to bat first turned into a nightmare as Sri Lankan line-up crumbled
06:01under Imran Khan's relentless sea movement and bound.
06:04The hosts barely managed to cross the 100 mark before Pakistan charge proved unstoppable.
06:10In the end, Pakistan did not just win.
06:13They crushed Sri Lanka by an innings and 20 runs.
06:15It was vintage Imran Khan leading from the front, setting the tone, and reminding the
06:20world why he was one of the finest all-rounders to ever grace the game.
06:25Pakistan dominance in caddy was absolute.
06:28They piled up 230 runs in their long innings, a total that looked far more imposing once
06:34their fiery bowling attack took charge.
06:36Sri Lanka, under relentless pressure, forded for just 109 runs in the first innings and
06:42101 runs in the second.
06:44It was a one-sided affair from start to finish.
06:47The contest wrapped up shortly after lunch, although not without a moment of drama.
06:53Tempers flared when a catch appeal against Arjuna Ranatunga at forward short leg was turned
06:58down.
06:59The umpires and Sri Lankan bestmen Roy Dice and Ranatunga walked off in the protest after
07:05some heated words come from the fielders.
07:07Cooler heads prevailed when Imran Khan, ever the statement, offered an apology to the umpire
07:13and play resumed soon after.
07:15It was a fiery finish to a match that had already showcased Pakistan discipline, aggression,
07:22and unity under their inspirational captain.
