00:05France was removed overnight between October 25 and 26. Rizal's bust was located at Place
00:11José Rizal in Paris' 9th arrondissement and served as a significant monument for the Filipino
00:17community in France. The bust and pedestal of Rizal, widely regarded as among the country's
00:23national heroes, was unveiled in June 2022. Rizal stayed in France multiple times between
00:281883 up until 1891. DFA clarifies, while the motive behind the removal remains unknown,
00:36public monuments are often vulnerable to vandalism or even destruction or theft.
00:42The Philippine embassy in France continues to work closely with local authorities in Paris
00:46to recover the monument.
