Shahrukh Khan: Speaking during his 60th birthday celebrations at the King teaser launch event, Shah Rukh recalled the days when he used to feel disappointed for not winning national recognition despite giving blockbuster performances. He admitted that in the early years of his career, he often felt hurt when his work went unrecognized, believing awards were the only true measure of success.
However, over time, SRK’s perspective changed. He realized that the true award lies in the love and appreciation from his audience. “Even if I don’t win awards, meeting people who love my work is more than enough,” he said emotionally. Shah Rukh also revealed that Swades director Ashutosh Gowariker once believed SRK would win the National Award for that role — but destiny had other plans.
Now, after 35 years in the industry, SRK’s long wait is finally over. The Badshah of Bollywood has added the most prestigious honor to his glorious career and says he now wishes to win many more National Awards — just like his Filmfare collection.
Currently, SRK is working on King, an action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand, co-starring his daughter Suhana Khan.
