00:00Hello everyone and welcome back to Play-Doh videos. Today we have a really special treat.
00:06We're going to make one of the most colorful Play-Doh creatures you've ever seen, a unicorn.
00:12We'll just need some white Play-Doh, light blue Play-Doh, some pink Play-Doh, yellow Play-Doh,
00:20orange Play-Doh, some red Play-Doh, light green Play-Doh, either matchsticks or toothpicks,
00:29along with the Play-Doh knife. Here we go. Let's start with the head. So let's take some white
00:35Play-Doh, about this amount, make a nice circular motion. This is going to be a horse's head. It
00:41needs to be a little bit narrow where their nose is and then round in the back. Just with your fingers,
00:48lightly push in so that we see the back of the head and then coming forward a little bit of a nose.
00:56Now let's take two small pieces of white Play-Doh and flatten it. Here's the key. These are going
01:04to be the ears of our Play-Doh unicorn. So we want to make an indentation down the center all along the ear.
01:14And go ahead and press it against the top of our unicorn's head.
01:18Alright, now the most important thing is the unicorn, the horn part of our unicorn. It should
01:28be a little bit smaller and a perfect cone. And you can even use the Play-Doh knife to make a few little
01:35notches. And you can place that right in the center. Okay, great. Now let's use the Play-Doh knife and just
01:46make a little detailing of where the eye will go. Very peaceful kind of eye.
01:56And use your fingers just to make that nose kind of come out a little bit more.
02:01Okay, now you can put the head aside for a moment. And now we're going to need a good amount of white
02:06Play-Doh to create the body and the legs. So let's start first with the legs. We're going to do that by
02:13creating a long tube. And now cut it into four even pieces.
02:21And now with each one, you see what I'm doing here? I'm just making it very flat at the end on both
02:27sides. Even if you notice, I'm pinching a little bit. So it's a little bit thicker at the bottom,
02:33just a tiny bit, and a little bit thinner at the top.
02:36You just roll it back and forth with your finger and put a little bit more pressure on one side than
02:42the other. And it naturally forms, not a cone, but it's almost that kind of shape. They should all be
02:50the same. Now let's get to the body. And here we're going to need our biggest piece of white Play-Doh yet
02:57that we're going to roll into a very thick tube. And it doesn't have to be very long. It's more important
03:03for this to be shorter and thicker. And if it looks about like mine does now, let's stop. We're going
03:10to take one end and just bend it slightly upward. Yeah, you see what I've done there? That bending
03:17is where the neck will be and the rest of the body is just like so. The next step is to attach the legs
03:25to the body. So let's take a toothpick or a matchstick and just poke it right down into the leg, right down the
03:33center of the leg, just like so. We're going to do it for all four. And you see how I move the legs now
03:39into position, that they are about the same length as the body. And then go ahead and place the body
03:46right on top. That's good. It looks fantastic. All right, let's not stop there. Let's take one more
03:53stick now and go ahead and put it right down through the neck and a little bit sticking out so we can now
03:59put our head, push the head on top of that stick. And there we go. And it all should be very compact,
04:09meaning all the pieces should be snugly fit together. And if that's so, then they're all holding
04:14up pretty well. Pretty good. Okay, now for the colorful parts. So let's take some pink play-doh and just put
04:21off little pieces of spaghetti-like pink play-doh. Roll them very quickly with your finger against the flat
04:27surface and take four of them for starters. You see how I've laid them on top of the head, one on this
04:33side of the horn, one on that side, one behind the ear, one behind the other ear. We'll go ahead
04:37and take some more pink play-doh and just fill it up behind so it looks natural. Now it's time to make
04:44the mane. And we're going to begin with some red play-doh. Just take one good piece like spaghetti and
04:52just attach it at the back of the head to the pink. Now let's attach some orange play-doh right next to
04:59the red. After the orange, let's try yellow. But this time let's use a little bit more, a little more
05:08than we did before so that the mane, if you see what we have here, the mane starts coming down longer
05:14as it goes away from the unicorn's head. And finally, some light green play-doh would be nice.
05:25Let's use some blue play-doh and this is the longest one yet.
05:31There is the mane for our unicorn. Let's now do the tail and to do that, let's start with some blue play-doh.
05:44And what we want to do is create a piece of spaghetti but this is going to be nice and long
05:48and thin like so. And now let's do some yellow play-doh and it should be exactly the same.
05:57Light green play-doh would be nice.
06:04And some pink play-doh.
06:08Now we have four colors and that's enough to get started here.
06:11So lay the four together and take one and lay it over the others and then lay those over the others.
06:20So you kind of criss-cross. You're creating a little braid and you can do a little twist at the end
06:25until all four kind of swirl together into one larger piece.
06:30Now, very sneaky, we're going to take a tiny piece of toothpick or matchstick and insert it into the tail
06:38and then connect that right at the back of the unicorn.
06:43That was pretty good, wasn't it? I think we're pretty much done.
06:47But there will be one thing that I think just gives it a really beautiful and kind of magical feeling
06:52is maybe we can add a yellow star right on top. And so we start with this kind of circular shape
06:58but now it's all about the pinch. I'm pinching, I'm pinching, I'm pinching.
07:04I'm going along each one of the five points and pinching it.
07:08And you can put that anywhere you want. I'm just going to put it right here at the top of the tail
07:21so that everybody can see it. That was amazing. She looks wonderful, really magical and really cute.
