00:00Hello gamers and tech enthusiasts, I'm Kevin, also known as Braj, and today, thanks to PC
00:05Componentes, we're going to dive into the fascinating world of monitor panels. If you're
00:10thinking about updating your gaming setup or simply want to understand what's behind these
00:14acronyms TN, IPS, BAT, OLED, etc., this video is for you. What is a monitor panel and why is it so
00:22important? The panel is the heart of your monitor, the technology that's responsible for displaying
00:26the image. Each type of panel has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages.
00:32And the right one can make the difference between a bad gaming experience or a truly epic one.
00:37I've also created a short graphic to explain how it works and what to look for. In terms of color
00:43representation, OLED will always come out on top. Then the IPS panel, followed by both mini LED and
00:49Quanto. Let me tell you that this is an average, meaning that you may find better or worse panels
00:55than these. What we do have to keep in mind when we continue talking about this is response times.
01:00I have been guided mainly by GTG. Let me tell you that, for example, here the one that loses is the
01:05BAS. We are talking about average, you will be able to see BA with much lower milliseconds than this one,
01:10but here the OLED wins hands down by 0.03. So, keep that in mind when talking about this type of monitor.
01:17Contrast ratio is the contrast, especially with the issue of blacks and everything. Here the OLED panel
01:23is the one that also wins. Then there is the BA panel, but if we realize how much a dot has tied it,
01:29IPS is very close and the worst is also the TN. The maximum HDR brightness. I should mention that
01:36not all monitors have HDR, but here the mini LED wins, which is going to be much brighter.
01:42I am not going to discuss this much in the video, but because we normally do not put monitors in front
01:48of us, but I have put it so that you have a little orientation. The viewing angles mean that depending
01:53on how you look at it, it will look worse or better if you look at it from the side in front.
01:58IPS, mini LED, OLED, Quantum Dot and BA are perfect. TN is the worst and, having already explained the
02:05brightness without HDR, here, mini LED wins, followed by Quantum Dot and OLED. As you may have
02:11noticed in this graph that I will be presenting from time to time, TN is the worst, but in terms of
02:17quality, price, it is the one that you will get the best if you want fast response times. We are going
02:22to dispel the myths about the realities of monitor panels and also tell you that if you knew that
02:27technology never stops evolving, and this means that no one really has the absolute truth, TN IPS has
02:34improved a lot. Although we already know that LED is doing very well, TN panels are older and
02:40generally the most economical. They are based on liquid crystals that bend to block and let light
02:45through. One of the advantages is their speed, which is that they offer very fast response times at a
02:49very competitive price-quality ratio. They can reach 1 millisecond in GTG, which is why competitive games
02:55are so important, where every millisecond counts. They are even faster now, even in MRT. Some models
03:01achieve response times of 0.5 milliseconds, practically instantaneous. They achieve high refresh rates of 240
03:09hertz or more, which translates into smoother images. But what is the disadvantage of these types of
03:14panels? Well, the colors are reproduced in a more limited and less precise range of colors than other
03:20panels. Viewing angles also suffer a lot. If you don't look at the image head-on, it will lose quality.
03:25Now let's talk about the IPS panel. IPS panels also use liquid crystals, but with a different structure
03:32that improves color reproduction and viewing angles. This means that the colors offer a much wider and more
03:38precise range of colors. Ideal for games with vibrant and detailed graphics. Aside from the viewing angles,
03:44the image looks good from any angle. As you can see on this monitor, the Predator is a really good
03:50monitor, and we'll talk a little bit about it now. The good thing is that it's versatile. They're a good
03:55option for both gaming and design, such as photo and video editing, and also for working. They're honestly
04:01very complete, and forget about the idea that IPS are slow. They've improved a lot. The new nano IPS and
04:08fast IPS panels have broken that barrier with response times that rival TN. It's true that they're a little
04:13worse, but they're starting to get much better without sacrificing color accuracy. What's the
04:19disadvantage? Well, they usually have lower contrast than BA panels. For example, although mini LED IPS is
04:25changing that, in BA panels, the liquid crystals are aligned vertically. This allows for greater control
04:31of light and better contrast. And it is here, where, in contrast, they offer the best quality at a good
04:37price. In contrast, which translates into deeper blacks, a greater sense of depth in the image and
04:42is very enjoyable. For example, in games with dark scenes, with high dynamic range, HDR and to watch
04:48high quality movies and in quality, at a great price right now. And if you are a fan of deep blacks and
04:53high contrast, VA continues to be a great option with very good response times because the most
04:59recent models have improved a lot in this aspect. Also, as you will see, almost all curved monitors
05:04are B panels. What is the disadvantage? Well, the viewing angles, although they are not as limited as
05:09the TN ones, the viewing angles can be lower, for example, than the IPS. And let's go to the OLED panel.
05:15And here I have also been testing another very good monitor, the Oris Faux 27Q2. Here is a very good
05:21monitor and the good thing about the panels is that they do not use backlighting. Each pixel emits its
05:26own light if it needs to be turned on or not. This allows absolute control over lighting with perfect
05:31blacks and infinite contrast. This means that the image quality offers the best image quality on the
05:38market. The response times are incredibly fast, even better than DN. And as you can see in the graph
05:45I've made here, it wins hands down. It has spectacular color accuracy. If you're looking for the best,
05:51OLED is still the king. Infinite contrast, vibrant colors, ultra-fast response times, and on top of
05:57that, with the arrival of a dock panels, the color accuracy is even more spectacular. What's the
06:02downside? Well, they're much more expensive panels than the competition in terms of panels and there's
06:08always the risk of burn-in. For example, in more static images for a long time it can cause you to
06:14have this problem. Although it's true, like this Aurorus that I'm talking about and you're seeing,
06:19they've put measures in place to mitigate this problem and so that it theoretically lasts forever
06:24or for a long time. With the emergence of what seemed like all other technologies were left behind,
06:30but honestly, they haven't improved with quantum dot, as we've discussed, mini LED. Because what does
06:36many LED do? Well, it uses thousands of tiny LEDs for backlighting, which allows for more precise light
06:43control and greater contrast. It's especially applied to IPS panels and that's it. And this is
06:48important for you to know. If you can't afford an OLED, this option is the closest you can get to an OLED.
06:55Keep this in mind, since it improves everything. Contrast, brightness, and lighting uniformity,
07:01which is a problem that IPS often have. Sometimes the light that's transmitted isn't uniform,
07:06and quantum dot makes OLED look much better. As you can see in the graph, it expands the color
07:13gamut and increases brightness, making colors even more vibrant and realistic. Have you ever heard of
07:19mini LEDs? This technology is revolutionizing LCD panels, especially IPS and it's going. So,
07:25what should we keep in mind when choosing our monitor? If you play competitive games,
07:30TN Wallet is the best option. If what you're looking for is image quality and a powerful visual
07:36experience, I would say IPS OLED. If you're looking for deep black and contrasts, then for example the BA,
07:45an economical option and OLED is above all the best option for games with dark scenes or movies.
07:51Hey, if you want a curved panel, then you have the BAM. And if, for example, your budget is tight,
07:57because you can't afford more, but you want to play competitively in some way,
08:01TN panels are the best option. I honestly think that the TN panel is a very good option for those
08:07who want to play. If you don't have a budget limit, the OLED will always offer you the best,
08:13but consider the price and the risk of burn-in. As I said, this Aorus has been improved a lot.
08:19They say that they have improved it a lot, but you have to take that into account.
08:23But if you don't want to spend a lot and, hey, you want an IPS with good colors,
08:28mini LED will be perfect for you because, as you said, it's very close to LEDs,
08:34especially good for games with HDR, movies and for work. They work very well, but we're going to make
08:39some monitor recommendations for you. Focused on each panel. For example, on a TN panel,
08:44there's the Benkei Zoe XL2546K, a 240Hz monitor with an ultra-fast response time and a price of 649
08:52euros. I'll tell you the price, but it can vary between more or less depending on the offer
08:56available. I do want to tell you that if you see HDMI 2.0, don't be scared, you'll take advantage
09:03of HDMI 2.1 if the monitor has 4K. If it's 2K or 1080, you won't need HDMI 2.1.
09:13And now let's go to one that I can say and I've been testing for a long time,
09:17it's the Benkei Zoe XL2411P. Mine is on the P, which basically doesn't have a display port,
09:24which I wish it did, and it's an affordable option if you want to play at 144Hz. Ideal for starting out
09:31in the competitive world. And you can find it for 266 euros in the IPS panels. Well, as you've
09:37noticed, I've also bought a lot and shown images of the Predator XB27 3KV3. The truth is that it's
09:45a great monitor, a high-end 4K monitor with 160Hz, HDR 400, and incredible colors thanks to its IPS
09:53panel. Also, if you're thinking of getting your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series 10, you can't go
09:58wrong, it has HDMI 2.1. If you play on PC and want to play everything in Ultra, you can get a display
10:05for 1.4 and its price is around 500 euros minus 600, which isn't a high price for such a good monitor.
10:12Another option that I find very interesting is the LG Ultra YAR 27GN 850B, a 4 HD monitor with 144Hz
10:21and a Nano IPS for great color accuracy. It incorporates HDMI 2.1 display for 1.4 and it is true that it
10:28costs 416 euros. But you will often see it on offer and it seems to me to be a superb monitor.
10:33For example, in terms of panels, we are going to open up to a curved monitor like the Samsung Odyssey
10:38Neo G7, Mini LED, HDR 1000 and spectacular contrast and it is around 761 euros in PC components. Also do
10:46gaming nitro, a curved monitor with 180Hz and a good balance between price and features at 219 euros.
10:53This monitor is very interesting. Now let's go to the Cren of the Cren and it is this Gigabyte
10:58Aurorus F027Q2. Okay, I have to tell you that there is the Q3 which has certain improvements,
11:05but the Q2 is the one that I have been testing for more than a week and I can tell you that I am
11:09delighted with it. A Quantum Dot OLED monitor with 240Hz, HDR True Black 400 and exceptional image
11:18quality. As you can see, the image looks spectacular. It has HDMI 2.1 for your play, for your Xbox,
11:25display by 1.4, but as you know, OLEDs and also Quantum Dot, the prices are higher. Although I must say
11:33that PC Componentes is putting very, very interesting offers on this monitor and hey, if it can fall,
11:38I highly recommend it. Another is the MSI Mag 341C, an interesting curved TR white, a curved LED also
11:46Quantum Dot with 175Hz, HDR, True Black 400 and very vibrant colors. Well, if you ask my opinion,
11:54honestly now that I have tried the Auris Gigabyte, I must say that the OLED seems impressive to me and
12:00even more so the Quantum Dot. I've really enjoyed this monitor, this monitor that PC Components has
12:06given me and I've also used the IPS and they've seemed great to me. Both have seemed magnificent
12:11to me, but OL gives you that touch for gaming, it's amazing. If you have a good budget, don't think
12:17twice, go to Lola. I know they're always with burning and all that stuff, but if you take good
12:23care of it, if you activate the options so that the pixels move every so often and all that,
12:28nothing should happen to you. I would also say that I think IPS is one of the best options out there
12:34and it would be between TN and B depending on your preference. I hope this information helps you
12:40choose the perfect panel for your gaming setup. Do you already know what your ideal panel type is?
12:45Leave it in the comments and don't forget to visit PC Components to find the monitor of your dreams.
12:50They have a wide range of monitors. If you have doubts about what I've told you or if you've seen
12:56that some are better than the ones I've mentioned, you can leave them in the comments box.
13:00If you have any questions, leave them in the comments box. We'll try to answer something
13:05that best suits you, but it's important for you to know that technology never stops advancing.
13:10So, subscribe to stay tuned for the latest news on monitor panels, because there are more
13:15and more incredible options to take your gaming experience to the next level. See you in the next
13:19video, guys. Bye.
