00:00Today we're going to test the best wireless microphones on the market, an essential tool
00:05for any content creator. We'll look at everything from their audio quality to the distance they
00:10reach, their comfort level, to how to use them in the best way.
00:16Hey everyone, I'm Jesp 11, a content creator, and today we're on the PC Components channel
00:21to take a look at these two great microphones, a cheaper option that costs around 100 euros,
00:25and another option that I would say is one of the best on the market, which costs around 300 euros.
00:30We'll start with the Saramonic. Let's see what's inside the box and what you'll find if you open
00:34them. The model in question is the Saramonic Blink 500B2, and as you can see, the first thing that
00:40catches your eye is the charging case, which contains the two microphones, a receiver, lightning connector
00:45for an old iPhone, and a USB-C connector. We also find a USB to USB-C cable, the jack connectors to
00:53connect the receiver to the camera, and also a handy little bag for carrying everything.
00:58And now let's move on to the rod option, which I'm sure if you're a content creator you're interested
01:02in, you've seen them on content creators. They're very famous, they use them a lot and let's see
01:07what's inside the box. In the case of the rods, we find the version. As you can see, we have the
01:12receiver, two microphones which are the ones that are higher up, they're dead cuts so that the wind
01:17doesn't bother us, the aeromonics were also inside the bag, the jack connector for the camera,
01:22three USB-A to USB-C cables. They come in a lot of the Rode brand, and also a very nice case to
01:28transport it. Now that we've seen what's in the boxes, here I have the rods, here I have the
01:32ceremonics and we're going to put them to the test thoroughly. We're already out of the house,
01:35we've gone out to test them, you can see how easy it is to transport them. Here I have the Rode,
01:39a small case and here I have the ceremonics. You know, the best option on the market, the most
01:43economical. Let's put them to the test so you can see if it's worth spending a little less money or if
01:48you're going to go all out with the best option on the market. Now, let's first connect the cheapest
01:52option, as I said, we're going to connect it to the phone. To do this, we have the type C option
01:57here in the charging case, which you've probably already seen, and also the lightning option for
02:01iPhones. In my case, I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max that has type C. Before we start, remember that the
02:06cheapest option is to literally use another phone that you have or your friends, like I started
02:11recording videos with. You record the voice note and then sync it with the video so that it sounds great.
02:16But if you want to take it a bit more professional and not have to spend a lot of time syncing the
02:22audio, you're in the right place. The good thing about this type of microphone is that you just
02:26connect the receiver, place the microphone around your neck wherever you want and you can start
02:31recording. Right now you'll be listening to the audio from the camera, but as you can see,
02:35I already have the ceremonic microphone connected and the audio is already synchronized from the phone.
02:39You'll be hearing it very well. It's a cheap option, but the truth is that it works perfectly
02:43with the receiver that we've connected to the phone. The audio is already synchronized because
02:48the cheapest option for recording audio is with another phone. Audio notes. You record the sound
02:53and then you have to synchronize it in editing, which those of you who have done it already know
02:58is a pain. It's quite complicated. Once you've heard how they sound, we're going to do one of the
03:02most fun tests to see how far away they work. I'll wear one microphone around my neck and the person
03:08recording me will have the other one on while they're still to see if both can be heard well.
03:12Okay, now you'll be hearing me through the camera again. Let's do one of the most interesting tests.
03:16I'm going to start leaving. Sorry about the sun. Let's see how far the microphones can reach.
03:21Right now I'm blinded by the sun. I can't see anything, but let's start walking further.
03:26Let's see if you can still hear me. Whoever's recording me has another microphone so you can
03:31hear her. Okay, now I'm going to start standing up. Let's see if you can hear me on the iPhone.
03:36It's already dark here. Sorry about the lights. It's really sunny and it's being complicated.
03:41But anyway, let's see if you can hear me on the iPhone. I'm going to start shooting at full volume
03:46because here you can see that I don't have any more distance to go. Let's see. I don't think you
03:52should be able to hear me here. Can you hear me on the camera audio? Well, you could hear it with
03:56some slight interference, but you can see the distance there was. More than 150 meters and you
04:01can't ask for more. And what do I do if I come across a gust of wind and I can't record anywhere else
04:06like what happened to me. The others can reach here, but anyway, pretty good. This is where the
04:12dead sea, the anti-pop, the anti-wind, call them whatever you want, come into play. But as you can
04:17see, I have it on the microphone, very easy to put on, also to take off, and it works very well.
04:22To connect them to the camera, it's as easy as putting the jack in the receiver and then the
04:26other part in the camera and you can hook it here to the microphone clip. And it looks great.
04:31And the last aspect left to mention is the battery, which I think will easily last you a day of
04:36recording. It's around 7 hours, maybe a little less, but hey, if you don't have to record many
04:41interviews in a single day, it's more than enough. And you also have the charging case that can extend
04:46the battery. I would say about 10 more hours, so it's very good to store it and take it with you.
04:51As you can see, it's very easy. And with that, let's move on to the rods. Although before, I remind you
04:55that in the description you have the direct link to the Saramonic in case you want to buy them at PC
04:58components. They arrive very quickly to your home. They are currently at 120 euros and 29 cents point
05:03nine nine, a very affordable price. As I mentioned, they may be a little more expensive if you wait for
05:07a slightly cheaper offer, but for this price, they're great. In the case of the rod, you will
05:11have to forgive me for two things. The first is that it gets dark very soon and our power started to go
05:15out. And the second is that I needed a road cable that is not included. And therefore I could not
05:19connect the road to the phone with the receiver. Since this cable here are a very good quality one is
05:24needed. And I can tell you in advance that the one for charging the phone does not work.
05:27I will save you that step. You can go directly to that cable. But since we can easily connect it to
05:32the camera with the jack, let's see how it sounds. In this case, we're going to use them directly with
05:37the dead cat, which as you can see is very easy to put on and doesn't fall off. Okay, now we have the
05:41road connected. You'll be hearing the quality of this microphone for the first time. I would say it's
05:46one of the best out there. You'll notice it. Come on, 100%. Let's do the distance test again. The box
05:51says it's 200 meters. Going down this hill and a little more will be about 130, which I looked up on
05:56Google Maps. This time the receiver is in the camera. That's why I'm taking my iPhone. And we're
06:01going down the hill. I think this microphone, if you can afford it, is the best option on the market
06:07right now. Right now I'm super far away and you'll be hearing the road perfectly. And as you can see,
06:13there's number one and number two, which both have like a sound meter that goes up every time I speak.
06:18But if I stop talking it stops. And it's basically because I have both microphones connected.
06:24Imagine doing an interview or anything else. Well, one would be for one person, two for another,
06:30or even if you have both. You can have one be heard on the right side of the headphones and the other on
06:34the left side, which gives the whole video a top-notch production. And something really good
06:39about these microphones is that from the same receiver, apart from controlling the audio, as I
06:43said, we can also see the battery and touch other functions, such as the decibels, which we can have
06:48from minus 30 to zero, which would be the original state. And I liked how it sounded at minus nine.
06:53All of this could also be controlled from the road app for phones. But hey, from the receiver,
06:58you have complete control. As you can see, I now have both connected. This one could be for one
07:02person, this one for another, or simply for the audio from this one to go to the left side, as I said,
07:06and this one to the right side. So we have the two microphones. They're a little bigger, perhaps.
07:11But anyway, they're like the essentials. People always carry them. There are many people who
07:15simply use it like this, with the microphone in their hand, holding it. They can attach it. On
07:21many occasions, we've seen them attach it to a spatula, to a fork, to be funny, to do something
07:25different, to get attention. But anyway, I'm going to show you a little trick that I really like for
07:30interviews. Basically, it's this microphone stick that shouldn't cost you more than 20 euros. You can
07:34look for it. There are lots of options, and it's a great option for interviews on the street,
07:39even inside your house. If you're talking to someone else, it's a really great accessory. The slot has a
07:43piece of plastic that's useful in case the microphone is smaller, but it's designed for roadies. You can
07:48remove it, insert the microphone perfectly, and put on the foam, which is interchangeable and looks
07:53great. And finally, regarding the battery, more of the same. It has a battery life of 7 hours. I would
07:57say it's around 6.30, maybe 6.15, but it's more than enough for a day of recording. You also have two
08:03separate microphones, which if you only have to use one at a time, is great. You get many hours of battery
08:09life, and the same goes for the road. You have the link in the description that takes you directly to
08:12PC components. You can see on the right that they arrive very quickly and that they are less than
08:16250 euros, which makes them an even better option. In short, here I am with the spatula. As I was saying,
08:23it really catches your eye and you can use it in your videos. The microphone with the clip can be
08:27attached anywhere. And now with the final conclusions. The Ceremonics are around 120 euros when there is a
08:34good offer. I recommend them for that price. They are a very good budget option, but I also tell you,
08:40if you have the budget to go straight for the road and you know that content creation is your thing,
08:44they are one of the best options you have. With offers there around 260 euros, they are well worth
08:50learning how to use. Try them and they will really give your content a great boost. To help you make
08:56your final decision, I have prepared this comparison table showing the Ceremonic and the rod. And starting
09:00with the price, the cheapest ones take the lead, obviously for this reason. The road had to have some
09:05cross and the only place where I found it more viable to put them is in the price. Although I also tell
09:09you, they are worth every euro of their price. In terms of options, the Ceremonic are a little more
09:13limited. Between the application and the transmitter itself, the rod has a lot of options. If you learn
09:18how to use them well, I can tell you, they are one of the best options on the market. In terms of range,
09:22we have a tie because they reach more or less the same distance. I put them a little further away,
09:27but I'm telling you, I don't know who would need more distance. In terms of sound quality,
09:31the rods win the race. The rods are quite overwhelming, but I'm also telling you, the
09:34Ceremonics are an economical option. If we can't afford the price of the rods, I would 100% opt
09:39for these and the audio they offer for that price-quality ratio, I think they're the best.
09:42And finally, the battery, considering that the Ceremonics have a charging case that can extend
09:47their battery life away from home. But it's also true that the rods can be charged with a portable
09:51battery, so this is a clear tie. So that said, if you can invest your entire budget in the rods,
09:56and if you need a cheaper option because you can't reach Euro 250-300, then the Ceremonics are the
10:02product for you. Having said all that, I hope you enjoyed the video and I'll see you on the channel
10:07soon.
