05:11believe that the ceasefire is only the first step. There are so many things that need to
05:16happen in order for it to be a just and lasting peace. So different people have put forward
05:21different proposals and different measures. But all of those I think have now fed into
05:28the 20 point plan that President Trump set out and that is what all parties signed up
05:35to and signed up to support. So that is what we now have to take forward. Of course there

06:04that's just something you teach the Lebanese army.
06:08That's one thing to send in the news recently.
06:11Is it realistic to ask the Lebanese army,
06:13knowing its capabilities, to disarm Hizballah?
06:15THEY B 양ishes Level 18, sichern lebt.
06:18Well, I think nobody wants to see a return to conflict.
06:21That would be deeply damaging
06:23and it's really important that everyone works
06:25to prevent that taking place.
06:27It's also important, of course,
06:28we want to see the disarmament of Hizballah
06:30as being a deeply destructive force in this region,

07:51and the Revolutionary Guard still pose a threat on individuals inside the UK?
07:57Well, I'm afraid we have seen direct threats, Iran-backed threats on UK soil.
08:04And that is a deep concern to us and for our national security.
08:08And that is why we will always stand firm on national security issues
08:13and against any kind of threat from the Iranian regime.
08:17As you'll know, we've also been very clear
08:20and firm around the concerns around the nuclear program,
08:24the Iranian nuclear program,
08:26and that's why we have also restored
08:28and strengthened the sanctions
08:29around the nuclear program as well.
08:32President Trump said two weeks ago
08:34that the U.S. is ready for a deal
08:37as soon as Tehran is.
08:39So, is a deal with the West imminent?
08:44Well, I think this was on the issue
08:45around the nuclear program.
08:46we had hoped, we had continually urged Iran to comply
08:51with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty requirements
08:56to ensure that they were taking seriously
08:59their responsibilities to ensure that they could comply
09:01with the inspectors, the Nuclear Programme Inspectors
09:05and to be able to do so and we had called on them
09:09many times to do so, in the event they simply did not

09:35example.
09:36First of all, that is the reason we ended up triggering what they call the snap-back
09:38process and ensuring that sanctions could be strengthened and could be restored in order
09:44to maintain the pressure to comply with the requirements.
09:49But the Iranian regime, if anything, is known about it, that is patient.
09:54Is that a deadline for this?
09:56Well, we will continue to put pressure on and will continue to stab Iran to comply.

10:25especially under the government in the Middle East,
10:28you're back on the global scene, especially in the Middle East.
10:32What has changed and where are the areas of interest for the UK?
10:37So we do very much feel that for us in the UK,
10:43the partnerships we build across the world, across different regions,
10:47are what make us stronger back at home.
10:49And whether that is our trading partnerships,
10:51We know that the trade, the investment partnerships that we have here in Saudi Arabia, but also across the region,
11:00we know that those trading relationships are what make our economy stronger.
11:04But we also know that the security partnerships, the diplomatic partnerships, that also makes us stronger at home.
11:12We know that issues, whether it be around Iran, whether it be around issues around Gaza, instability in different parts of the world can have consequences for all of us.
11:24And we are all stronger if we maintain those diplomatic partnerships and those trading relationships, those diplomatic relationships and those security relationships.
11:33That's why it's so important for me to be here in here in Riyadh.
11:37But it's also why we do see issues around foreign policy, around diplomacy, around those crucial relationships.
11:45We want to support peace. We want to prevent conflict in other parts of the world.
11:49But we also want that stability and security because that also helps us back home.
11:54Last question before we wrap. It's headlines. And I cannot avoid this question. Sudan, specifically Al-Fashir.
12:01What's the UK stand on this?
12:03It's just it's atrocious. It's really incredibly disturbing.
12:07what we've seen happening in Al-Fashir. We've seen executions take place in a maternity hospital.
12:13We've seen the real reports of the most horrendous atrocities.
12:17130,000 children still at risk as a result of those RSF advances.
12:25We are calling for an urgent ceasefire.
12:28We are calling for an immediate humanitarian truce so we can support people.
12:33It's essential that happens.
12:35I'm also particularly troubled by some of the reports that we have seen about sexual violence being used as a weapon of war.
12:43These are kinds of atrocities.
12:44Are you involved in the talks for ceasefire in the UK?
12:47So we are supporting. We know that there have been the we support the discussions that have been taking place as part of the quad involving Saudi Arabia, but also involving the US, the UAE, the Emiratis and also Egypt as well.
13:02That quad discussions are hugely important and we'll support that process.
13:06but we're also having discussions internationally as well about how we support the process too because we do desperately need that ceasefire in place.
13:16I have so many questions about the Middle East, but I know your time is limited.
13:21Thank you so much for finding the time for this talk and good luck.
