The Works Ministry plans to introduce an external auditing system for highway concessionaires early next year to ensure road maintenance meets top standards.

Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said after launching the Malaysia Road Maintenance Convention (MRMC) 2025 and the MY-ASEAN Road and Traffic Technology Expo (My-ARTTE) 2025 on Monday (Nov 3) that the initiative will require each concessionaire to undergo periodic audits by independent auditors, rather than relying solely on internal assessments by the Public Works Department (JKR) or the companies themselves.
