00:00So India are the world champions. India's first ever win at a women's ICC event.
00:07Women in blue have made India, all the Indians, proud with this victory.
00:14BCCI has also announced a reward prize of 51 crores for the entire team, players, coaches and also the support staff.
00:23So indeed a proud moment for all the Indians and also a turning point for women's cricket with this victory.
00:30History has been scripted by the India women's cricket team and after reaching the finals in 2005 and 2017 and not winning the trophy.
00:40But this time India has lifted the cup and the world cup is ours.
00:47And India women's cricket team have scripted history and these are the visuals after winning the world cup.
00:56And clearly all the Indians have celebrated this victory and it's also a very much a turning point for women's cricket.
01:07We have been talking about how the men's cricket gets all the attention and women's cricket was lagging behind.
01:13But this, this victory is I think the turning point for women's cricket also in India.
01:25Great goal for this crowd. They've been so amazing. Thank you, thank you guys for being there for us.
01:32For right now all our ups and downs and credit goes to entire our cricket team, BCCI, selectors, everyone back home.
01:40Thank you, thank you so much.
01:41Last game also we spoke that self-belief was there that, you know, even though we lost three back-to-back games,
01:47but we knew this team has something special to turn things around the table.
01:51So I think credit goes to each and every member.
01:54They stay positive. They knew what we have to do in the next three games.
01:58And I think everybody was so involved. They were there for day and night.
02:02I think this team deserve to be there.
02:05Sune was batting. They were looking really good and I just saw Shifali standing there.
02:10And the way she was batting today, I knew today's her day.
02:13She was showing something special today.
02:15And I just thought I have to go with my gut feeling.
02:18If my heart is saying I should give at least one over to her, I'm going to give her.
02:22And then I just asked her, can you ball one over?
02:24And she was so ready and she's always wanted to ball for the team.
02:28And I think that was the turning point for us.
02:29Well, I mean, I don't know how do I react to that.
02:33Still sinking in.
02:34As you said, I haven't been emotional on a cricket field.
02:38But yeah, I mean, just a very unreal moment.
02:41Home World Cup and yeah, I mean, just to read the Champions India,
02:45I mean, I just can't. I'm still not able to process it.
02:48You know, every World Cup we go in and there have been so many heartbreaks for all of us.
02:52But yeah, I mean, we always believe that we have a bigger responsibility with women's cricket.
02:58And genuinely, just to see the support we've got over the last one and a half month
03:03and to see people come in, support us.
03:06I mean, I don't know how do I explain the last 40 days.
03:10But yeah, I mean, to end it with a World Cup win today,
03:12I mean, I will take that 45 days of not sleeping every night.
03:16The last C20 World Cup for sure was a difficult one for all of us
03:20to take. But yeah, I mean, we had a clear focus on really, you know,
03:26trying to work on our fitness, trying to be better at each and every aspect.
03:31But I mean, the super strength of this team is no one will talk about it,
03:34but it's the way everyone's just stuck in and just play for each other.
03:36I mean, that's a very under...
03:39I mean, I don't know, in a World Cup like this,
03:41you just need everyone's support.
03:43Everyone was there for each other.
03:44Good days, bad days. We enjoyed each other's success.
03:46I mean, I just can't tell you the way the team environment is
03:50and I think that's really magic.
03:52This team is different.
03:53All I'd say, this team is different.
03:55I think more than anything else, what stood out for me in this tournament
03:57is that, you know, we didn't have a smooth ride.
04:00We had ups and downs, but each other looked out for each other.
04:03There was always, when someone was crying,
04:04there was someone going there, giving their shoulder to cry on.
04:07And that's what a real champion team is all about.
04:09You know, it's not about winning 10 matches straight in a row.
04:13It's knowing how to pick yourself up after a fall.
04:15And that's what this team did.
04:16True.
04:17Jamie, your team in the semi-final,
04:18maybe you gave a shout out to every fan in that team that is winning.
04:23Tell us a little bit about that team.
04:25Oh, I don't know what to say.
04:29I think I was just chosen to be in that moment.
04:31And it was like, it was all scripted.
04:34I was just a small part of what happened.
04:38It just felt like it was all scripted by someone above.
04:41I got above and, yeah, I mean,
04:44I'm just so grateful that I could contribute to a team,
04:46to my team in the semi-final defeat Australia.
04:49I started to say that God has given me something good to do.
04:52And today, it has been reflected.
04:55And I'm very happy that we are winning the World Cup.
04:58It's a lot of happy that I won't be able to say words.
05:01Well, it was difficult, but I had confidence in that I will believe in myself.
05:05and I will keep my job and keep my job, so I can do anything too.
05:09So, that belief and calmness and my parents' support support.
05:13My parents, my friends, my brother, I think it was all the support of support.
05:16And I think everyone had told me how to play and the final is so important for myself and for the whole team.
05:24So, today I was just thinking about how to run and make a team.
05:26I shouldn't win.
05:28Absolutely.
05:28Today, my mind was clear.
05:31And what I worked with my plans.
05:34I am so happy that he has executed.
05:36and we were talking to each other and we were talking to each other.
05:40He was always a supporter,
05:42and I think everyone supported us,
05:44all teammates were very welcoming and supportive.
05:47I think that we have won a lot,
05:49because we have been waiting for this World Cup for a long time,
05:52that when we will win a trophy,
05:54and that day we will win a trophy.
05:57We are champions.
05:58I think that we can't tell this feeling,
06:01but we are very happy.
06:03We are now looking at how the emotions are going,
06:05I think it's totally different.
06:07Today we have to play a match,
06:10which is what we want to do today.
06:13Whatever will happen,
06:14like the body will fall,
06:15whatever will happen in the boundary lines,
06:17we want to be able to keep it in the boundary lines,
06:19so it's the only thing that we want to do today.
06:24I can't express enough.
06:25There are no words.
06:26It's not going to come out of my mouth.
06:28This flag on my shoulder,
06:30it means a lot to me.
06:31And you know, being here with my team,
06:33it's just surreal.
06:34Definitely, I mean,
06:36injuries are part and parcel of the game.
06:38I'm very happy that I was a part of this team,
06:40this winning team.
06:42You know, this team,
06:43I just love this team.
06:44I can't express my feelings towards this team.
06:46So I'm very happy that we actually made it.
06:49And we're the first team who has won the World Cup in so long,
06:53and the whole India deserves this.
06:55World Champion Amanjot.
06:56Amanjot,
06:57how are you feeling?
06:58He was talking every time,
06:59that,
07:00that,
07:01that,
07:02that,
07:03that,
07:04this time,
07:05it is for India.
07:06It's a part of the World Championship.
07:07It's a part of the team that's been a lot.
07:08It's a part of the team,
07:09this team has been a lot.
07:10It's a part of the team.
07:11I'm not sure it's a part of the team.
07:12It's a part of the team that has really helped me.
07:13I feel like we have.
07:14Now,
07:15I know,
07:16I'm not sure of it.
07:17I feel like you.
07:18I'm not sure of it.
07:19.
07:26.
07:29.
07:34.
07:39I mean, our team is 250-300, or you can see the other teams struggle in scoring.
07:46I mean, God has kept us for a while.
07:49I will give you a little bit and I will give you a little bit in the final.
07:52So, I can't say that we haven't done well.
07:54There will be some things in our favor.
07:56And now, everything is balanced.
08:00So, everything is okay.
08:02I think I couldn't be prouder of this team for the campaign that we've had.
08:05Played some brilliant cricket throughout.
08:07Outplayed today, I think India played fantastically well.
08:10Yeah, unfortunate to be on the losing side, but I'm sure we'll definitely grow from this as a group.
08:15I think we did so well to put those couple of bad games behind us.
08:18We're either really good or really bad.
08:20But thankfully, there was a lot more really good throughout this tournament.
08:23Yeah, I think we had so many different players stepping up.
08:26Amazing tournament for a lot of different players.
08:29And just proud of the resilience we showed to get all the way to the final.
08:33I think I probably didn't have my best year leading into this World Cup
08:36and probably didn't start the tournament that well.
08:39But I think maybe overthinking it wasn't that good.
08:42Just try to, you know, it's just another game of cricket, even though you're at the World Cup.
08:47Try to separate the two, the captaincy and the batting.
08:50And I think that sort of freed me up a bit, come the back end of the tournament,
08:53to just play my natural game and then focus on the captaincy at a different time.
08:57Yeah, we were hoping for a little bit more early on.
09:00I think there was still a little bit of something in the wicket though.
09:02So I do still think it was the right call to have a ball.
09:05And yeah, that chase, I think we were in it for a lot of the chase.
09:09Just lost too many wickets.
09:11I kept checking that scoreboard and they were definitely tracking for like a 350.
09:14So yeah, that back end was amazing.
09:17I think we've been pretty good at that throughout the tournament.
09:19And I think we gave ourselves a good chance.
09:21I think 300 was about par and a good wicket.
09:23And we really felt that we could chase it.
09:26So India are the champions of the Women's World Cup.
09:29They defeated South Africa by 52 runs.
09:32And there were two brightest stars in yesterday's match.
09:35That was Shefali Verma and Dipti Sharma.
09:38They showed their all-round performance in the match.
09:42And these are the visuals, how the Indians are celebrating the victory across the country.
09:48The women, the women's cricket team have made all the Indians proud and bringing this title.
09:55And in fact, this victory becomes even more special because it was right on the home soil
10:01in Navi Mumbai's D.Y. Patil Stadium.
10:04And let's take a look at how the fans across the country celebrated this victory.
10:10Super proud, super proud of our girls.
10:13I am holding the national flag right now.
10:16And India today, India is super proud of our girls.
10:21As we are already proud of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli.
10:25But today, we are raising the slogan for Dipti Sharma, for Richa Ghosh, for Smriti Mandana, for Jemima Rodriguez.
10:34And for all the girls, those who have played for India and made a history towards a World Cup.
10:45And right now, you can see all over Kolkata are celebrating the win of India.
10:53I'm proud for my girls. I'm proud for our women. I'm proud for our mothers.
10:59And today, India won the World Cup, whether it's girls or boys.
11:05But I respect girls. Go on! I just want to say, go on!
11:10The people are saying that it's just the beginning of the moment. And it will go on and on.
11:16And India will lift many more World Cups, many more T20 World Cups, many more ICC Championship in the forward.
11:22And right now, the celebration will go on and on. And it's a moment for us, for the Indians, for India today.
11:30The women's World Cup will be so strong.
11:50I say that the women's world cup in our history has been so big achievement.
11:58The women's world cup has won the country.
12:02My wife and my sister has won the achievement.
12:09Ladies, how are you watching this?
12:11Cheers to India women's team.
12:13We didn't celebrate India's team.
12:22We are all excited.
12:23We are all excited to be here.
12:25You can see now that you should be watching this female club.
12:29We're all excited to be here.
12:31I will be watching this at the bottom of my day.
12:35I wish for this big comment,
12:38And Dipti Sharma starred with a five-wicket haul on 39 runs.
12:57Let's listen in to her family's reaction on the victory.
13:08The Holy Spirit has been a full of love.
13:26The world has been a part of the world.
13:30There are many children who have been a part of the world.
13:35in India, we will be able to win the final result of the final result of the final result.
13:49It feels like a dream, because the emotions are not coming out, but it feels so good that
13:56I have contributed to the final result of the World Cup. It feels so good.
14:02We always thought about how we can take take away from the match, whatever it is positive.
14:09Obviously, I will tell you about the huge numbers today.
14:12We are supporting every match in every match.
14:15Thanks to them.
14:16Without them, this is not possible.
14:18Because their support is obviously necessary in every match.
14:21Thanks to them.
14:22As a team, it feels good after this result.
14:25Honestly.
14:26Whatever department is, I enjoy it in any situation.
14:32Because I feel good.
14:33Today, I got the ball in my hands and I had to play against that situation.
14:39I enjoyed it.
14:41It's a good moment.
14:42To perform all-rounder for your team, it can't be amazing.
14:50At long last, India are World Cup champions for the first time in the history of women's cricket.
14:55They had come close on two previous occasions.
14:57But it was in front of a packed Divay Patel Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
15:02With their home fans cheering them on that they were finally crowned world champions.
15:07Let's take a look at how the final unfolded.
15:13In the big final, India were put into bad by South Africa.
15:17The boundaries were easy to find as India got 250 unscathed.
15:22Found a gap, just steered it delicately.
15:27The opening partnership grew to 104, but South Africa struck against the run of play with the big wicket of Smriti Mandana.
15:35Breaks the opening partnership.
15:40Playing just his second match, Shefali Verma scored an impactful 87, but South Africa came back into the match with two quick wickets, leaving India at 171 for three.
15:51Deepti Sharma shouldered the responsibility of taking India forward, which she did well with a well-made 58.
16:04She's been very assertive here, Deepti Sharma.
16:06Richa Ghosh was inserted later on, and she entertained the crowds with some flamboyant hits.
16:13That's what she wanted, and there was the deep extra cover, please.
16:19India tried to take the score past 300, but somehow lost track, but even then, finished with a competitive 298.
16:28Some people will say, keep running, keep running, even if it costs.
16:35South Africa came out knowing what they had to do to win their first World Cup title.
16:41Their owners were sensible, yet swift.
16:44Lovely.
16:45That is the strength of Tasman Brits.
16:47India had to wait for nearly 10 overs to get their first breakthrough, but the second came shortly after the first.
16:57South Africa made a solid comeback, making India toil for the third wicket.
17:12Just when India were getting a bit impatient, the ball was given to Shefali, who struck not once, but twice.
17:19Going to have more of Shefali Verma this time around. The finger is up. Shefali has two.
17:28The pendulum swung once more as South Africa staged a 61-run sixth wicket partnership.
17:34Will the fielding be better this time? No.
17:37India's leading wicket-taker, Deepti Sharma, then restored the smiles with two quick wickets, and India could now smell silverware.
17:47Can anyone get there?
17:49Oh! Up the third attempt! Would you believe it?
17:54After multiple heartbreaks and disappointments, the team that had often failed after coming so close managed to get over the line to be crowned the world champions for the very first time.
18:11We're getting some breaking news from the state of Karnataka.
18:18Hectic parties in Congress camp amid power tussle drama.

20:55In fact, Tejasvi Yadav, too, hit back at the BJP-led NDA for failing Bihar's youth.
21:00He has said that the BJP has made Bihar a labour supplier and has left the state backward while Gujarat prospered and only makes hollow promises.

21:17The RGDP Congress has increased.
21:19The RGDP Congress has increased, or in the RGDP Congress has increased.

25:31But today, we are raising the slogan for Dipti Sharma, for Richa Ghosh, for Smriti Mandhana, for Jemima Rodriguez,
25:41and for all the girls, those who have played for India and made a history towards a World Cup.

26:06And today, India won the World Cup, whether it's girls or boys.
26:11But I respect girls.
26:14Go on!
26:15I just want to say, go on!
26:16Well, the people are saying that it's just the beginning of the moment.
26:20And it will go on and on.
26:22And India will lift many more World Cups, many more T20 World Cups, many more ICC Test Championship in the forward.
26:29And right now, the celebration will go on and on.

27:45I've seen the most famous place in India.
27:49And I am very happy that the country has been beating their hands in the cricket.
28:00The members of Indian cricketers were overjoyed as Team India clinched victory against South Africa in the ICC Women's World Cup final.
28:07The household erupted in cheers, pride and also celebration as India lifted the trophy.
28:19The heart of my heart, my heart has been fulfilled and our love.
28:34My memory is luna, the heart of my heart and the heart of my heart.
28:39And I have to give up my heart, my heart has been revealed and we have been delivering to our people.
28:46And let's also listen in to what former Indian captain Mithali Raj said on this victory.
29:16And we're now being joined by former cricketer Atul Vasan on the broadcast.
29:27Mr. Vasan, indeed a very good morning to you.
29:29And India are the world champions in women's cricket.
29:33How do you see this victory from a not-so-great start to the tournament to now becoming the world champions?
29:39Well, as I was listening to Sunnyvai saying that he felt seven foot tall. I'm six foot three already.
29:45And I feel eight foot tall because, you know, once you become a world champion, then everybody is a world champion.
29:51Of course, the girls got us this trophy. But we are part of this. We are invested. We've got skin in the game.
29:57That is why it is sweeter. You know, I'm from the fraternity. I'm a former cricketer.
30:02But even, I think, the man on the street, it is for the whole country.
30:05And I was just thinking about, I would rather everybody has said what has happened and all the girls who did what.
30:10But I feel that this is more like a, it's a macro trophy for India generally, per se.
30:19Because, you know, suddenly we feel that, okay, we belong here. We deserve things.
30:23And this is the sign of resurgence in India. You know, our girls are doing so well.
30:27Because, look at the confidence. Look at the temperament. You know, the game was always there with us.
30:31But the way we beat Australia, the way we feel that, okay, we will not give up and we deserve this.
30:38You know, earlier it used to happen that, okay, we used to see, we used to get overwhelmed.
30:42And, you know, in 2017 it happened. In 2021 it happened. We flattered to deceive.
30:48And we stashed literally defeat from the jaws of victory before. And we thought that maybe, okay, this is where we lag, the killer instinct.
30:55But the way we made Australia crumble, you know, that showed that we had more gumption, more grit than even Australia.
31:02That team was invincible.
31:04Absolutely, Mr. Wasan, we deserve this victory. But what, according to you, was the turning point in yesterday's match?
31:11You know, yesterday's match, I think we, there was huge, it's very easy to get driven by, you know, swept up by the euphoria.
31:19After beating Australia, everybody just felt that, okay, this is for us for taking. But it's never such a sport.
31:24You have to still go there, still go to do the job. And to reach that 298, you know, you will not realise how, how not easy it is.
31:33Because, you know, you could have easily thought, you know, okay, we won, we chased 338. We will just, whenever there was a good spell, we will just bludgeon through it.
31:41And then that's where the collapse happened. So, the maturity, the way our team just kept at it. And in spite of doing the big wickets, you know, Samrithi played well.
31:49Everybody played little cameos. Shefali was another story altogether, we can come back to that.
31:54But, Deepti and Richa, I mean, that was the partnership that took the game away. Because before that, we could have easily ended up at 250-260.
32:01And you must know that chasing 250-260 is a huge difference for chasing 298. That 30 body run is not much.
32:08But in the context of the game, that is where you get wickets. That is where the pressure comes in. One good over and you're chasing 298. That makes you commit the error.
32:16So, I think people in micros, we understand cricket. And that was the turning point. That partnership of Richa and Deepti.
32:24Alright. Mr. Wasan, do you think this victory is the watershed moment for women's cricket in India?
32:30Well, you know, just such a cliche. But I think the watershed moment was when PCCI took the women's cricket under the umbrella.
32:39And that is where, you know, this reward is coming. Because the whole ecosystem, which was afforded to men's,
32:45because of that, the money was coming in. And the whole support staff, the NCAAs, the, you know, the best physios,
32:52the best expertise in the world was given to the girls as well. And this is what happens when you do that.
32:58Also, Mr. Wasan, this was not the first time when India reached the finals in women's cricket.
33:03We reached the finals in 2005. We reached the finals in 2017. But had to face a heartbreak.
33:09But this time, finally, the dream was fulfilled. What do you think was different this time?
33:14I told you, it was just how we feel, how we perceive, how we behave, how we live our lives in the world.
33:20You know, India has got a place in the world. You see, you can call it the economics, the surgeons,
33:26how assured we feel in our lives, you know. You know, early 2000s, when I had been doing cricket,
33:33the women's cricket for a long time. I was, I did the Anjim Chopra's debut match.
33:38I did the debut match of Vitaly Raj also. I did the commentary. So, I know from there.
33:42So, I've seen that whole graph, the whole timeline, you know, and our body of work has grown steadily.
33:49And we have reached a point where we feel that we are as good as Australia or any team, you know.
33:53And then because, and we are not desperate for so much for that game to get our nerves, get on top of us.
33:58And then that used to happen because we used to feel, if we don't win, then what I'm going to do?
34:03Do I have a profession? No. Do I have a job? Do I have security? No.
34:06So, that feeling used to make us commit the errors. But now he said, doesn't matter, you know.
34:10I mean, this is because of the WPL, the IPL, you know, that cricket is a profession.
34:14So, I think this attitude, this confidence, you could see in the swagger.
34:18You could see in the body language.
34:21Right. You were talking about Deepti Sharma. Stellar performance by Deepti Sharma in the match.
34:26She stood out as the most complete all-rounder in the team.
34:30Yeah, she's always been. She's been there for a long time. She's played more than 100 games, you know.
34:36And this is, again, I said the maturity of our cricket, whether it's men's cricket or women's cricket, you know, the kind of assurance.
34:43And the CCI must be acknowledged for this, you know, the way they handle the game, the way they have afforded every facility, whatever you need is there.
34:52Same as men's because men's cricket is so big and women's cricket is not as big.
34:56But then you get the same kind of umbrella, the ecosystem you get.
35:00So, I think Deepti is a reward of that. And, you know, they've got jobs, they've got annual contracts.
35:06And then you could see that Deepti and girls from, for interlenders, small town girls.
35:11So, they gravitate towards the big cities and this is where it is. And Deepti is one of those stories.
35:16Alright. Mr. Atul Wasam, thank you for joining us on the broadcast.
35:21And the man who played the pivotal role in Indian women's victory, the coach, Anmol Mazumdar, being hailed as Kabir Khan from Chakday India by netizens.
35:31Listen in.
35:33I don't know. It's not yet sinking, but it's an unbelievable achievement by all the girls.
35:41And it is, I mean, they deserve every credit. They deserve everything that will follow from here.
35:47Because they have worked terribly hard. I know for a fact that they have done extremely, every Indian proud actually.
35:54And I know for a fact that they have worked extremely hard for this.
35:59And I think it's a watershed moment for Indian cricket, I guess.
36:05So women in blue have scripted history and every Indian right now is very proud of the team.
36:13With that, it's a wrap on this bulletin. More news and updates continue on the other side.
36:17Thank you for watching India Today.
