00:00Saturday Night's Main Event, November 2025, whatever we call it, is officially in the books.
00:05And if you were under any illusions that Drew McIntyre was going to win the WWE title,
00:09the first match was Cody Rhodes vs. Drew, I was like, ha ha, there is no way the biggest prize
00:15in WWE is going to change hands when you are match one on SNME Nov 25, which sounds like
00:23some kind of disease your doctor would tell you, be like, nah. Also, hello my friends,
00:26one of the ups and downs for Saturday Night's Main Event. My name is Simon Miller, I am the
00:29board a-hole, and I have the finger of power, but I like something we say up, but I don't like
00:33something I say down. You then ignore the downs and tell me I only give ups to shows. It's a very
00:39strange predicament that's been going on for almost 10 years. Now, lock yourself in, remember to tell
00:44me how wrong I am in the comments. Let's review Saturday Night's Main Event. The first thing Drew
00:50McIntyre did is he told Lillian Garcia, oh hi, maybe you should announce me as the real comptroller,
00:56excuse me, the real American dream. I was like, we probably should have let into that story more
01:01rather than just bring it up on SmackDown that happened 24 hours before this. But what I really
01:06did like is that you did have the stipulation that Drew could win the title by DQ or he could win it
01:10by count out. So how did he spend all of his time trying to get Cody Rhodes counted out or trying to
01:16get him disqualified? Because Drew McIntyre is a smart Scottish person. Drew was even trying to use
01:20the referee as sort of a weapon at one point, so I'm not entirely sure how that would have worked.
01:24And the best near fall is when, man, Cody Rhodes went flying through Alan the announce table and
01:30he got back in the ring at like 9.9999. I just called that a near fall. That's not a near fall
01:35at all. But I did think to myself, if you were going to do it, you would do it that way. But once
01:40again, I guess the real shame here, the jeopardy wasn't there. I never totally thought that Drew
01:45McIntyre was going to win. It did make me kind of a sad panda because what the flub do you do with
01:49Drew now? But also, I've told this before, I love Cody Rhodes. Having a nice person as a beloved
01:55baby face where you rarely get it in modern wrestling. So I'm happy to run it into the ground.
02:00I also really enjoyed the fact that when Drew McIntyre realized his plan wasn't working,
02:03he just bit Cody like he was four years old. And yes, eventually the referee got squished in the
02:09corner. So Drew went, I'm going to get the WWE title belt. And this is when the controversy sprung
02:15up from the ground like a snake. Now before that, there was this weird spot where Cody went for a
02:20Cody cutter. I think the referee got in the way because he kind of hit him the turf buckle. Then
02:24he just fell down like, oh, my poor knee. And then seconds after this, he did hit a super Cody cutter.
02:30I think it was just one of those things where everything did fall down when they got back to it.
02:33And that is going to be one of the messages I do send out during today's ups and downs.
02:37Wrestlers are allowed to make mistakes. That doesn't all of a sudden make them the worst
02:41wrestler ever. In fact, sometimes the only person that should come out and tell us if they're the
02:45worst wrestler ever is the wrestler they've just wrestled. Because who's going to know more than
02:49them? And going back to that championship, Drew did try to hit Cody, but Cody got out of the way
02:52before they smashed into each other. And actually Drew McIntyre then hit a version of the Claymore,
02:57but he was only able to get a one-two and actually fair play to the commentators. They were like,
03:00he wasn't able to do his run up this time. And if he was able to do that, that could have been the end.
03:06Which essentially meant, it sucks to be you, Drew. You tried and failed.
03:09We then kind of tied it into what we did with Kevin Owens a few months ago on Saturday Night's
03:12Main Event, or I suppose almost a year ago. But I want to wait and see with this, because I think
03:16it may actually be something Drew McIntyre leans into. But as the championship was now on the floor,
03:21Cody Rhodes did a DDT. And can you believe it by accident? But maybe on purpose, we do not know.
03:27Drew McIntyre's head went into that thing. Cody looked around. The referee wasn't back up.
03:31He hit the crossroads, and he got the one-two-three. Now, I find myself in a very difficult
03:36predicament, because I am going to give that down. But it's only because of what's happened
03:41in 2025. Every other time someone's been beaten by the crossroads, let me check my notes,
03:46the crossroads have been hit in 42,691 times. So when he does win with one, it doesn't work anymore.
03:52So we need to fix this issue. And you can tie that into the main event as well. We'll talk about that
03:56later. But in 2026, finishers need to become finishers again. And yes, I get it. This was
04:02a good way to start that process. And also, on SmackDown, Drew McIntyre to be like, Cody,
04:07you used the championship. I can't believe it. And he will make a good point, which yes,
04:11does lean into his character of, I may be a dickhead, but I always tell the truth.
04:15I'm massively intrigued to see what's next, though. And I actually think WWE is going to lean
04:18on the fact that Survivor Series, we do have war games, because you can have Drew and Cody
04:22on opposite teams, which means they are still feuding, but the belt ain't going to be up for
04:27grabs. And after that, well, unless we are finally going to bring Randy on back to TV and turn him
04:32heel, I do not know. But in terms of an opener, and what is kind of a PLE, but not really, that
04:38rise, it must be true. I am giving it up. Ultimately, I had a good time.
04:44When WWE made a major call, and it was 100% the right one, because of course,
04:48Jay Cargill turned heel a couple of weeks ago. She ruined Tiffany Stratton's leg. So Tiffany
04:53Stratton came into her World Championship match with a gammy wound or something like that. And
04:58Jay felt to herself, you know what, I should take advantage of that. So she totally murked her.
05:04I mean, even when Stratton was able to dodge and get to the top rope, Cargill was like,
05:06nope, and essentially threw her face into the ring apron, which is the hardest part of the ring.
05:11And that was the entirety story of this match. I don't think Stratton got any kind of real
05:15offense in. There was no tiffy time. It was just Jay going, yeah, look at that bicep, I'm jet.
05:20And there was a cool callback in the sense that Tiffany eventually used some of the still steps.
05:24And yes, that's how Jay got that massive scar on her face. When they got back into the ring,
05:29Cargill hit the least devastating move in all of sports entertainment. The surprise roll-up,
05:33the surprise roll-up, the blue thunderbomb. Well, I screwed that up, didn't I? Let's rewind.
05:38The least devastating move in all of sports entertainment, the blue thunderbomb. Did it work?
05:44But of course it didn't. I can't go so gung-ho now because I've made myself look like an idiot.
05:49More so. From there, though, seriously, Tiffany did kick out. So Jay was like,
05:52all right, I'm going to hit you with a powerbomb. Maybe I'll hit you with another powerbomb.
05:55When she scored with the jackdiff, she got the one, two, three. She became the champion.
06:00And in the background, there was a big pyrotechnic display to let you know something big had
06:04happened. But I sat there in my chair and I thought, yes, this was the right thing to do.
06:09Jay Cargill now feels like the final boss.
06:11It's also essential as well because if somebody is going to go bad guy,
06:15you need to justify that moral stance by saying, well, I told you this would work.
06:19And listen, you just have to play to people's strengths sometimes.
06:22Not every single main event type match needs to go on for 25 years.
06:26You can do it in five minutes. You can do it in 10 minutes.
06:28Just look at what you have on a piece of paper and book to suit.
06:31That's what I kind of felt like we'd done here.
06:33And I was very sports entertained.
06:35And I'm very excited to see what Jay Cargill is going to do.
06:38And also, Tiffany Stratton had had that title long enough.
06:41This was just pulling the trigger at the right time.
06:44It's getting him up.
06:45I was a big fan of it.
06:47When we kept things creative and honestly, surely Dominic Mysterio is now just a baby face
06:52because he was defending his intercontinental title against Rusev and Penta.
06:56And this man was just a barrel of laughs.
06:59And they all had their working shoes on.
07:01At one point, Penta hit the Penta driver on Rusev and that mother hubbard went so high in the air.
07:07It kind of made me all go heebie-jeebie.
07:09Because when Penta does the Penta driver, he always tucks their neck at the last second.
07:13But my gosh, that was brilliant.
07:15It's also really funny because Dominic has been a dick recently.
07:17So instantly, Penta and Rusev went to beat him up.
07:20When, of course, Rusev turned on Penta.
07:22He was yelling at my screen.
07:23I was like, you stupid masked man.
07:24Have you never watched wrestling before?
07:26This was always going to happen.
07:27Get in the game.
07:28Rusev really did go crazy after this as well.
07:30He was throwing everybody into Barry Barricade when he finally grabbed Dominic.
07:34And honestly, he was hurling him around as if he was a baby.
07:37As I told you before, do not throw babies.
07:40Rusev also went totally crazy at one point and saw the intercontinental title and said,
07:44I'm coming for you.
07:46And to make it very clear, the most important word in that sentence is for.
07:51If you're a kid, don't worry about that sentence.
07:52And let's just move on.
07:54Penta was then able to stop the accolades.
07:56And Dominic Mysterio was like, well, I'm going to get a chair.
07:58And he tried to do the Eddie Guerrero thing when he threw it at Rusev.
08:02But the referee turned around and was like, dude, this means nothing.
08:05It's a triple threat match.
08:06We fight under WWE rules, which means there are no disqualifications.
08:10So Rusev got this chair and just smashed it into Dom.
08:13When Penta ran at the corner and he kicked it into Rusev's face.
08:16I was like, man, consider me sports entertain.
08:19We also got the Mexican Destroyer there because you have to see it.
08:21When eventually Rusev was able to apply the accolades, when the bell rang.
08:26And everybody thought Rusev had won, but he hadn't.
08:29Dominic Mysterio got that stupid hammer and he was ringing the bell.
08:33Rusev sold this so wonderfully.
08:35It was like someone had told you, oh my gosh, you won the lottery.
08:38And you're like, yes, you won a dollar.
08:40Instantly, you turned into the angriest man ever.
08:43Now I think about it.
08:44This may have been the best match on the show because it was so damn funny.
08:47When we eventually do turn Dominic as well.
08:49He has to keep doing this stuff.
08:51You can't get rid of it, but he just has to do it against the heels.
08:54Like Rusev is a bad guy.
08:56So the fact that Dominic screwed him over.
08:58Nobody looks at the condom and goes, oh, I can't believe you do that.
09:00We just go, you're a delight.
09:02Dom made sure that Rusev went into similar still steps as well.
09:05And they were having a terrible evening.
09:07And during all of that, he got the hammer.
09:08He was going to murder Penta.
09:10But of course, Penta was able to steal it away from him.
09:13When Penta went to murder Dominic, this was so good.
09:16Dominic moved.
09:17So Penta hit Rusev.
09:18And you would have thought that Rusev was his mother.
09:20Like, why was Penta so upset about this?
09:23You're fighting Rusev.
09:24But very sadly, he did freeze because he is a baby face.
09:28So Dominic smacked him one.
09:29He hit the smash of the frogs.
09:30And he got the one, two, three.
09:32Genuinely, man.
09:33Sometimes you don't need to overthink things.
09:35You should just, I don't know, take wrestling and deliver it in its simplest form.
09:39This was great.
09:40I love the IC title.
09:42Please put Dominic in more feuds for it.
09:44The rumor is he may even be going at Survivor Series against John Cena.
09:47Give me that one.
09:49Giving it up?
09:49I thought this ruled.
09:50Speaking of Cena too, he had a video segment here where he basically confirmed that we are going to have a tournament.
09:55The rumors are true.
09:5716 people from Raw, SmackDown, and outside of the WWE universe will be entered into it.
10:02And no, it's not going to be Edge, for goodness sake.
10:06And nor should it be Edge.
10:07He signed a contract elsewhere.
10:08Not everything has to be like, oh, we have to do this stuff.
10:11Probably going to be more someone like Joe Hendry, who actually likely will be in the tournament.
10:15Also, the name of this thing is the It's the Last Time Tournament, which is the worst name for a tournament ever.
10:22But I like this idea.
10:24Being the final opponent of John Cena should be treated like a championship.
10:28Couple of thumbs.
10:29The main event was after this, Jey Uso versus CM Punk for that World Heavyweight Championship.
10:35And we talked about this all week long.
10:37The Seth Rollins injury was very unfortunate.
10:39And it did ruin the plans.
10:41So just look at Raw and go, who's the most overpopular babyface?
10:45The answer is CM Punk.
10:46So what do you do?
10:47You give the title to CM Punk.
10:48That's what we did.
10:49No notes.
10:50Now, Jey did make sure to shove CM Punk at one point here, maybe to act like he was being a bad guy.
10:55We're going to have to wait and see.
10:57And why even talk about the rest of the match when everybody just wants to talk about one bit?
11:01Because, yes, CM Punk went to do his slow neckbreaker on Jey Uso.
11:05I don't know what happened here.
11:07But Jey kept rotating, so they all fell down.
11:09Maybe CM Punk then did give him quite a stiff kick to say, oh, dude, what are you doing?
11:13When he went back to the neckbreaker.
11:15Now, listen, of course you're allowed your opinion.
11:17If you think Jey Uso is the worst wrestler ever, fine.
11:20I don't think we should go to such levels after one spot.
11:23But I do also think it's one of those occasions where if you have been in the ring and you have been a wrestler,
11:28you know that this stuff can happen for no reason whatsoever.
11:31It's proper two plus two equals potato.
11:33Like I wrestle and sometimes I do something and in the back I'm mortified.
11:37I'm like, I don't know what happened.
11:39My brain deceived me.
11:40Now, listen, that doesn't have to affect your overall opinion.
11:43But I think sometimes we can just go shrug emoji.
11:45All right, it doesn't matter.
11:47What was more interesting to me is that at one point the fans were saying, Jey, you absolutely suck.
11:51And I swear he reacted to these in a bad way.
11:54Well, he's Samoan dropped CM Punk and it is okay because he is Samoan.
11:57But he hit him so hard, CM Punk's t-shirt essentially came off.
12:01So things were getting kinky.
12:03Not kinky.
12:04CM Punk eventually got the GTS, but he hit Jey too hard because he rolled out the ring.
12:08For some reason, Punk sold it like Jey Uso was a ghost.
12:11I was like, just go after him, man.
12:12What are you so shocked for?
12:14And when he did, he took a bottle of water and he poured it over Jey's head.
12:18I mean, why not?
12:19From here, it was just you hit your finish.
12:20I hit your finish.
12:21I'm going to take a spear.
12:22You could take a GTS and we just dance around the houses.
12:25And yes, CM Punk, I think in total, had to hit five GTSs.
12:30It just goes back to what we said earlier.
12:32Just think we need to get back to the day where one will do the job.
12:35And actually, CM Punk was kind of the outlier before this match, but I get it, man.
12:40WWE sees Jey Uso as a top star, so they were trying to protect him like a jail.
12:44There was a really cool bit where it looked like Uso was about to be GTS, but instead
12:47he locked in the sleeper as a callback to his Gunther matches, but Punk hadn't got his
12:51eight hours.
12:52So he was able to reverse that.
12:53He locked in the Anaconda Vice, then Jey Uso got out of that and he was going for spears
12:57and CM Punk was versing it.
12:58When essentially, Punk got one GTS, Jey Uso did that bounce rope thing, which basically
13:04defies the loss of Phoenix, CM Punk then hit another GTS, one, two, three, brand new
13:09heavyweight champion.
13:10So what a wild ride this has been for CM Punk, whether you like him or hate him.
13:13Imagine I told you four years ago, this was going to go down.
13:17And actually, I just want to give a massive salute to WWE.
13:21There was no run-ins, there was no shenanigans, there was no division doing their thing.
13:24We just had a championship, one man won, one man lost, and sometimes that's all that
13:29you need.
13:30And if we lean too far into the shenanigans, then when we have shenanigans, they won't
13:34mean this much.
13:35And also, not every single big event has to end with a surprise, then it doesn't become
13:39a surprise, it just becomes boring.
13:41So I was a massive fan of that.
13:43Now I will say they didn't really have the chemistry I expected them to have, like this
13:46match was fine at best, I would say.
13:49But I am going to give it an up overall, because again, the biggest babyface on Raw is
13:53now the world champion.
13:54It's not the ideal scenario.
13:56The WWE had their backs against their wall.
13:59I think they made the right call, and that rhymes, so it must be true.
14:02So yeah, it gets it up.
14:04My clamoring for Jey Uso vs. CM Punk round two?
14:07No, I don't think so.
14:08But sometimes the ends justify the means.
14:11Also, Jey Uso did do a very interesting Instagram post where he said something like, screw y'all,
14:17or you win y'all.
14:18And it had the, you know, middle finger emoji.
14:21So maybe we are going to use this to turn Jey Uso heel.
14:24Maybe after tonight is time.
14:27I still love the guy.
14:28We wait and see.
14:29I would also now be writing down on my big booking pad piece of paper that Brom Breaker
14:33is about to do some stuff with this world championship.
14:35But this Saturday Night's main event does get an up, because again, Jake Hargan is a champion.
14:39CM Punk is a champion.
14:41And when you do kind of two major championship changes on one show, well, unless it was an
14:45absolute disaster, it's always going to be all right by me.
14:49Up.
14:49Now, of course, please do leave me a comment below and let me know how wrong I was about
14:52Saturday Night's main event.
14:53Otherwise, I'll never learn.
14:54Like the video, share the video, and subscribe.
14:56Take the video on the screen, which is ups and downs for SmackDown, so you can get all
14:59my thoughts about wrestling this week.
15:00And again, NordVPN.com forward slash whatculture.
15:03Otherwise, my friends, have a terrific day.
15:06And I will see you next week.
