00:00So initially I heard some screaming and shouting
00:02coming from at least a carriage or two down.
00:05And then I made eye contact with another passenger
00:09that I called to me.
00:10And it was clear that something was going on.
00:12We didn't quite know what.
00:13And then a minute or so later,
00:16a man was running down with a very clear wound,
00:19bleeding quite badly on his arm.
00:22And I thought it was like some sort of Halloween prank at first.
00:25But then he's shouting that someone's got a knife.
00:29He was stabbed.
00:30And then a few more people come running down the train.
00:32And then I grabbed my bag and my coat.
00:34And then I got up and moved forward down the train after them,
00:38trying to get as far down the train as they can.
00:40And that was kind of initially when I was like,
00:42oh, OK, something's happened.
00:44I saw someone who was very badly injured,
00:48lots of blood around them.
00:50They were either collapsed or looking about.
00:53They were about to fall over.
00:55And people were trying to pass back hoodies and things
00:57to pack the wound.
00:57I was in Coach H.
01:00I was literally just listening to Audible on my phone.
01:03And then I had guys suddenly run past going, run, run.
01:07There's a guy stabbing literally everyone and everything.
01:09At first, there was a few of us kind of looking at each other,
01:12like thinking, oh, was it a joke?
01:13Like, it's Halloween.
01:13I'd be pranking.
01:15But then you could kind of see in their faces they were being serious.
01:18So I kind of got my stuff and I was running.
01:20And everyone was really pushing behind us, really panicking.
01:23And at this point, I was kind of asking questions like, what's going on?
01:27What's happening?
01:28Like, who is it?
01:28And they were like, a guy's just stabbing everyone back there.
01:32And then I put my hand on this chair, like, just trying to push myself forward.
01:37And then I look at my hand and it's covered in blood.
01:39And then I look at the chair and there's blood all over the chair.
01:42And then I look ahead and there's blood all over the chairs.
01:43And I'm thinking, okay, this is pretty serious.
01:47And then it felt like literally forever.
01:49But eventually, the train kind of stopped.
01:51And I thought it was actually in the middle of nowhere.
01:53And then I thought it was Stevenage.
01:55But it ended up being Huntingdon.
01:56And everyone's kind of running off.
01:58And then I get off the train.
01:59And I'm thinking, okay, they're coming off from the far end of the train, which is from my right-hand side.
02:04So I thought that he might be there still.
02:07So I'm looking to my right.
02:08And I just see 20 people and about around 20 people in pure panic.
02:12There's three people severely bleeding.
02:15And one guy is holding his stomach.
02:16And there's blood coming down his stomach, down his leg.
02:19And he's just going, help, help.
02:20I'm being stabbed.
02:21So I've seen two people kind of trying to help him.
02:24There's a few others in a group that are running away.
02:26And we all get out.
02:28By the time we kind of completely get out of the train station, we run from the train station past the traffic lights.
02:33We're just kind of sticking together, but watching it unfold.
02:36And to be fair, pretty quickly, the police have come.
02:38There's about eight police cars going straight in.
02:40And I didn't actually see what happened with the guy.
02:43I think, yeah, I think he was arrested.
02:45Apparently, there was two.
02:46I only knew of one at the time.
02:48I've been on the scene since just after 9pm.
02:52When I arrived, there was a really significant emergency services presence.
02:56The emergency services you can see behind me are much reduced from what it was when I first got here an hour and a half ago.
03:01There must have been 10 ambulances, a number of fire engines and well over 20 police cars, including armed police.
03:09My understanding so far, and I've not been briefed officially by emergency services, but my understanding is that the attack took place on the train.
03:18It's a NNER train from Newcastle to King's Cross.
03:24The attack took place just after Peterborough station.
03:27And there were multiple stabbings.
03:29The train stopped at Antrim and armed police were able to deal with the situation then.
03:35Given the train was heading from Newcastle to King's Cross, there's a good chance that those involved directly in the incident aren't constituents.
03:45But obviously, this incident taking place here has raised huge concerns.
03:49I've been contacted by a number of people already.
03:51I'll be offering reassurance and making sure that we can deal with any local incidents that fall out as a result of this.
03:59But my thoughts stay firmly with the victims and those who've been involved in this terrible incident.
04:05I think I can't see any further than that at this point in time.
04:10It's simply a terrible incident and one that's involved any number of innocent people.
04:16And my thoughts are with them.
04:17I think until we know more information about the nature of the incident and the motives behind the attacker,
04:23it's going to be very difficult to understand exactly what's taken place and why.
04:28It seems to be almost pure chance that the attack took place.
04:33Whereabouts it did, given the length of journey that the train was on.
04:36And we don't know anything more about why the attacker did what he did and took those actions.
04:42So really just waiting for more information, but trying to give people reassurance.
04:48I doffed my hat to the first responders when I got here.
04:53The nature of the emergency response and the scale of the response was hugely impressive.
04:58And given the nature of the incident and how serious it was,
05:02extremely brave of those first responders to be able to come here and neutralise the threat so quickly.
05:07I'm hugely concerned by knife crime.
05:09It's an issue that I've raised on multiple occasions in Parliament and have led debates on the issue.
05:15It's something that affected me much more when I lived in London previously.
05:19And it's not something that is necessarily we see very much of in this part of Cambridgeshire.
05:23So to have it brought to our doorstep is extremely concerning.
05:27It's something that I take very seriously.
05:30And I'll be looking to make sure that I can speak to the police and understand
05:33what we can do to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:37And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:39And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:41And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:43And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:45And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:47And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:49And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:51And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
05:53And I'll be looking to make sure that incidents like this don't take place going forward.
