00:00Hi, my name is Clooney Thomas. I'm 15 years old from Boulder, Maryland. While being in Black
00:04Us Film Camp, I learned the importance of networking, relationship building, and just
00:08asking questions in general. My film is titled Identity. It is about a teen Black girl with
00:12anxiety who finds comfort about her secret identity from a podcast that leads her to
00:17face her fears of rejection from her family and embrace her truth. I hope you enjoy my film.
00:30And I've said this before and I'll say it again. Our old ways may not serve us in this
00:36new space. Forgiveness means a deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance
00:44to... Before a man gets into a relationship, he should forgive his mama. He should forgive
00:49his grandma. Welcome back to the Observation Podcast, where we dive into topics around
00:55self-awareness. I'm your host, Keon Hill, and today's topic is about identity. Identity isn't
01:02about who people see you as. It's about the influences that those people have on you as a person. They
01:11impact your lifestyle just as much as you do theirs, but the question is, are you willing
01:17to accept those influences? Are you willing to be an influence on others? Are you willing
01:24to show them who you are? The only true answer is yes. People are going to know you whether
01:33you want them to or not. It's all about...
02:03being abandoned can either be a good thing, a bad thing, or both. It can hurt when you're
02:10one of those.
02:11But it can also show you people's true colors. And many people would rather have someone's
02:17Being abandoned can either be a good thing, a bad thing, or both.
02:31It can hurt, but it can also show you people's true colors.
02:37And many people would rather have someone's primary colors than their secondary.
02:42And those who support you truly, no matter what you're dealing with, will never leave.
02:56Many like to say that's family, but that isn't always the case.
03:00Either way, no matter who's doing the abandoning, all that matters is that you know the truth.
03:15The reality is, you're all you've got once everyone's gone.
03:20You have to love yourself.
03:21It's okay to be upset and angry about your situation.
03:43It always is.
03:44But being angry only provides for that moment, not the new ones.
03:55Figuring out what you're going to do with that anger?
03:59Now that, that's what's going to help you with the new moments.
04:04Are you willing to forgive?
04:07Are you willing to reflect?
04:10Are you willing to love?
04:14Honesty isn't just with other people, you know.
04:31It's within us, too.
04:33Being ourselves, our true selves, is the best reward that we can give ourselves.
04:41We can either be happy with lies, or be sad with the truth.
04:48What would you rather do?
04:49Does thisꁤ be funny?
05:04What would you rather do?
05:04If you'd agree with me, you won't be happy with lies.
