00:20passion into an amazing organization. We take animals to visit with elderly veterans and kids

00:27with difficulties. Through the help of her furry, feather, and scaly friends, she is bringing

00:33comfort and connection to communities in need. This part looks like how I feel most days. Amazing, right?

00:38Wow. All right. So join me as we celebrate Erin. More is more. Yeah, I think so. And her dedication

00:45to brightening the lives of so many with every visit from the little zoo.

00:49My name's Lacy Chabert, and I'm on a mission to find unsung heroes who dedicate their lives

00:59to serving their communities. Everyday champions whose impact reaches far beyond the work they

01:05do. It's their turn for the spotlight. What is going on? With the help of family, friends,

01:12and our superstar planners. I am so excited about this celebration. It's going to be great.

01:16We have only three days to create epic surprise parties to honor our dedicated heroes.

01:41Today, I'm in beautiful downtown Monrovia to meet up with Allison, who nominated her friend

01:45Erin as a hero in their community. Allison, hi. Oh my gosh, hi. I'm so glad you made it.

01:51Good to see you. Thank you for coming out. This is the underdog bookstore that we sometimes

01:57do community events at. How fun. And Erin's doing another event today, so I thought it might

02:01be a perfect way to kind of show you what we do without her finding anything out. Perfect.

02:05Thanks.

02:10Hi, I'm Erin, and I am the founder and creator of The Little Zoo. Right, Lola?

02:22I created The Little Zoo to bring love, joy, healing, comfort, warmth, and connection to seniors,

02:30kids with complex needs, all kinds of people with disabilities, and just really anybody who

02:35could use a little extra love in their life. He says I want to leave you. Hi, my name is Allison

02:41Walter, and I am nominating Erin Maxick, the founder of the nonprofit The Little Zoo.

02:47Erin has sacrificed her time, her energy, sometimes her sanity. She gives everything to this.

02:55See how tiny these years are? I got super inspired to start my own nonprofit after working for another

03:02mobile zoo company. After doing a few visits to convalescent homes, I realized that so many

03:09seniors out there are lonely and living in homes where nobody visits. And when I would bring the

03:16animals in, I would see their hearts open in such a magical way. I just thought,

03:22I want to start my own organization as a nonprofit so I could visit people who don't have the funding.

03:29It's a blue-tongued skink, so on the count of three, we're all going to stick our tongue out like

03:35topaz. One, two, three!

03:40How long have you been involved with The Little Zoo? So I've been volunteering with The Little Zoo

03:44for almost two years now. Erin asked me to join her board of directors, so I've gotten a lot more

03:48involved as time has gone on, but it just brings me so much joy and I'm so grateful that I found her

03:52and then now I can help spread that joy to other people.

03:55Everybody said, would you remove the skin?

03:58Connecting with animals is super therapeutic.

04:02I loved holding the chicken. I felt like we were one at one point. It just makes me feel more peaceful.

04:10For people to hold an animal right behind the ears, it is a therapeutic regulation of the nervous

04:17system. It helps people relax. It was really an interesting thrill to be able to hold a snake and

04:26all the other little animals that were there were just adorable. It just brings me so much joy that

04:32my Little Zoo family can touch people in such a beautiful way. What's happening at the event today?

04:39So we have some members of the community, we've got seniors, we have some of our junior volunteers here,

04:44and we're just going to spread a little love and kindness to some people that could use a little

04:47bit of animal connection. Hey everybody! We have a special guest, this is Lacey.

04:54Hi! Hi Lacey! Nice to meet you all. Hello, hello. These are some of our other board members.

04:59Hi! This is Shira. Oh my goodness, hi Shira. And Keely. Hi Keely, so nice to meet you.

05:04And then we have Ava helping you. Hi! So nice to meet you. Do you enjoy working with the Little Zoo?

05:09Oh yes, I do. I love it. It's always a blessing. Ava was diagnosed at an early age with a learning

05:15delay and ADHD. And working with the Little Zoo, I really get to watch her just be herself and grow

05:24and talk to people and it's beautiful. I attended the Little Zoo with my social group and then I signed

05:31up to be an animal educator and then the rest was sister. As a mom, I'm super grateful for Erin giving Ava the

05:38opportunity to just shine because it's, you know, that's all Ava wants to do. And I always tell my

05:46friends at school, I have a job and I'm an animal educator so bringing smiles to people's faces is

05:52something I enjoy. Such a good job! Such a great job! I'm just forever grateful for Erin and the Little Zoo.

06:01So today we're going to introduce you guys to a bunch of different critter friends and you'll have

06:05a chance to hold them if you'd like. If you don't want to hold them, that's okay too. You can

06:08just look, you can pet, whatever is in your comfort level. Our first animal that we're going to meet

06:13today is Tortellini. He is about two years old. He likes a nice little gentle pet on his shell.

06:19This is Nova, is a Mexican black kingsnake. That's great. As long as I can remember,

06:24I have been afraid of snakes and it's not something I've ever been able to overcome.

06:28And I don't know that today's the day, but we'll try. I mean, it's beautiful.

06:32One of the things that I find so special is what animals can do for people. That connection between

06:39an animal and a human is so profound. Just the simplicity of sitting and petting an animal.

06:47You kind of tune in to the energy of the animal in a certain way and it helps people learn to be calm.

06:54And you can just be open and present and in this human experience with the magical being of an animal.

07:03I mean, they're so unbelievable. This is O'Loren, the Dumarils Boa.

07:08I see people go from being just shut down and internal and kind of closed off to just opening up

07:17and being filled with joy and wonder. And she loves to perch on a shoulder.

07:22May she sit on your shoulder, Lacey? Sure. Okay.

07:26The whiskers tickle so bad. Well, thank you everybody for coming out and hanging out with us today.

07:31Thank you for letting me join. This was really fun. But really, you should see the little zoo

07:34headquarters, which is also Erin's house. She has all 26 animals living with her in her home.

07:4026? 26 animals. How in the world does she care for so many animals? It's a massive amount of work,

07:46which is why she really never has a day off. And another reason that we want to celebrate her

07:50and let her have a day that's for her. Yeah. And I heard she has a sister that's also involved.

07:55Yes. Yes. Brooke is definitely in on the surprise and has been very helpful with helping us pull this

08:25really love to see a little bit more of the little zoo. Let's do it. Why don't we start at the chicken coop?

08:28Great. Okay. Come on. Follow me. Okay. So here's the backyard and the chicken coop is right over here.

08:37How many chickens does she have? So she has five, I think, right now. Unfortunately,

08:43not too long ago, she lost probably her favorite one to an attack. Oh, I'm so sorry. So she's been

08:48really mourning the loss of Willow was the name of the chicken. And the coop, you know, it served its

08:55purpose for a while. But as you can see, it's not the most secure. Willow will always live in my heart.

09:01She was our smallest little chicken. I was her caretaker and she trusted me. And so losing her

09:10just was really hard. That might be something I could help with. I don't know anything about

09:16chicken coops, to be totally honest with you. Really? That would be amazing, Lacey.

09:20I would hate for Erin to lose any more of her flock. So I think building a new chicken coop

09:25might be the perfect hero moment. What's in here? Oh, this is her greenhouse. It's actually one of

09:32the reasons she bought the house. Can I see? Yes. Take a peek. I would love to see. Yep. There we go.

09:38What? Isn't that amazing? Are you kidding me? It's like a magical. Oh my gosh, there's so many.

09:45Wow. Last I checked, she had well over 100 orchids in here. No way.

09:50She would love to have more time to come out here. But the animals do take priority, you know.

09:58Well, you know, this kind of gives me an idea because we're trying to settle on the theme now.

10:01So maybe there's a way we incorporate this. Oh my gosh, that would be amazing. She loves orchids.

10:06Great. I know our time is limited, so we should probably sneak away while we're looking. Yes. Follow me.

10:12I used to be the president of the Orchid Society of Southern California.

10:15It was wonderful doing that for four years before jumping into my own non-profit.

10:22I'm hoping none of the neighbors are going to say anything that they've seen us here again.

10:36Hi. Hi. I'm Erin's friend. I'm Daryl. Oh, hi, Daryl. I came to clear the shed today. I've got a bunch of storage

10:43stuff and promised her I would come clear it out today. So, how do you know Erin, if you don't mind

10:47me asking? We've been friends for years, actually. We're sort of on a secret mission. Okay. So,

10:51please don't tell Erin you saw us here today. I was just about to call her. Well, we're giving

10:55her a surprise celebration in two days. Okay. Do you want to come? I would love to. That'd be fun.

11:16Good morning, Lacey. Good morning. How you doing? Good. How are you? Hi. Hi. Hi. Thanks. Hi. Oh,

11:24you made us coffee? I did. I made your tea. I made you coffee. You're the best. Did your dog just have a

11:29birthday? Did I see that? Um, my dog's name is Sweet Francine and Sweet Francine turned three

11:34yesterday. Sweet Francine. Yes. So, when I got home from work, my daughter had set up the table

11:38with a tablecloth and little birthday hats and she hung a banner up on the window that said happy

11:43birthday. So, it's so adorable that your daughter was emulating what you do. She set up a party. She

11:47did. A party plan. Well, we have another party to plan because our hero this week is named Erin. Okay.

11:52She was nominated by Allison and Allison's who I was with this morning and her organization is called

11:58the Little Zoo and she takes care of 26 animals on her own in her home. Big animals, small animals. Small

12:06animals. That's fine. It's the Little Zoo. So, I got to go to a pop-up event that the Little Zoo did this

12:11morning at the bookstore. It was adorable. People were there and I've really understood the effects

12:17of what they do, that it's very therapeutic. It brings a lot of joy and goodness. They particularly

12:22support the elderly community and children with complex needs and then I also got to go to Erin's house

12:28her sister Brooke met me there. Okay. And I got to see she has a chicken coop in the back. Okay. But

12:33I also heard a very sad story. Erin loves orchids. Or kids, we call them. Orchids.

12:41Marissa and I found a venue and we're really excited about it and everything's indoors because it might

12:46rain. Good morning. Wow. This is so beautiful. I dressed on theme. I had no idea I would literally

12:53match the party. I'm hoping to find a chicken coop to be installed by tomorrow.

13:05Then I got to see she has a chicken coop in the back. Okay. But I also heard the very sad story

13:11that Erin lost a chicken to a predator attack. Oh my gosh. I know. So I was thinking maybe like there's

13:20something I can do to help secure the chicken coop. I think that's a great idea. What else did she

13:25tell you about Erin? She has tons of orchid plants. Oh really? Yeah. So maybe there's something there

13:31with the orchid collection. Well I'm definitely thinking we incorporate orchids in the party,

13:35whether it's like in our centerpieces. Definitely. Okay. Maybe the color scheme of the party could be

13:40the pink orchid color, right? Or all the orchid palette. Purple. Yeah. I love it. Purple is my

13:45favorite color. We know. Yes. So as far as the theme, I don't have all of the ideas just yet. Let's

13:52brainstorm. I mean animals, obviously the biggest theme. Animals. You know, she spends all day in the

13:56zoo. I know the animals. With her animals. And I don't want her to have to bring all of the animals in

14:00her feel like it's work for her. Yeah. Like I don't want to do one of these tropes that we always

14:05do, right? Like oh you're an animal lover? We're having a safari. Right. Like let's do something.

14:09It needs to be something unique. You're right. Unique. What if we did something like out of this

14:13world? Out of this world. Right. Like a space theme? Maybe. I don't know. Oh. What if it's a galactic

14:18orchid party? Oh cute. That is really cute. Yeah. I love that. I love that. Okay. So we'll find a venue today

14:25that is a blank canvas and we can make it into anything we want it to be. Okay. And regardless,

14:31we're going to need food, entertainment, decor. So we'll start brainstorming some ideas. Okay. And I

14:36will think about my hero moment and think about the chicken coop. Okay. Thanks. Thank you. Let's get busy.

14:54We're at Orchid Haven to pick out some orchids for Erin's celebration. And Erin's friend David is

15:00stopping by to tell us a little bit more about Erin. Never seen this many orchids all in the same

15:04place. Let's go on an orchid shopping spree. Oh, I found the most perfect one. I found the most

15:11perfect one. No, look at this. It's the same one. I'll put this in my pile. No, I'm going to put it in my

15:16pile. Fine. Whatever. I want this one. I get the credit for this one. Oh wow. You got a lot. Right?

15:23I love how we picked the same things. Of course we did. Obviously. Marissa. Lisa. Hi. Hi. It's David

15:30here. Lovely to meet you. Nice to meet you. I'm Lisa. Nice to meet you. When Lisa and Marissa called,

15:36I was so surprised. I had no idea anything like this was going to happen. And to be a part of it

15:41is just a blessing. So I heard you wanted to know a bit more about Erin. Is that right? Yes. We know that

15:47she loves orchids. She sure does. I've seen her working on some of her orchids for years without

15:53blooming. Wow. But she keeps going and then suddenly it's the most exquisite bloom you've

15:59ever seen. An orchid is so special for so many reasons. They require very specific care to make

16:08them flourish. And they reward you with the most beautiful flowers. She sounds like a nurturer.

16:15Absolutely. Like somebody who likes to nurture. Mounted orchids are her preference. Oh.

16:18Really? So yeah. So seeing the roots and seeing things like that would be special. Wow. Okay.

16:23And do you work with Erin in the foundation? Yes. I was one of the first volunteers with her. Wow. And

16:28seeing her and the way that she blossoms appropriately when she has the animals. She communicates with such

16:37love actually touching people's hearts. When I was young, I was very shy. Debilitatingly shy. So

16:45my happy place was with my animals. I think there's something in humans that we just love animals.

16:53Oh, you remind me of a sunset I'm lost in the view.

17:04Oh. And I'll see it come as I never knew it. Erin, thank you. The joy you've brought is rather

17:13amazing. Her name is Peach. Hi, Peach. The world's a better place because of you.

17:17we want to do something amazing for her and just as special as she is yes well i hope i can bring

17:26some help today beyond very helpful let me know and well we'll see you tomorrow oh absolutely

17:31absolutely i look forward to it lisa and marissa are coming here today to discuss aaron's galactic

17:45orchid party we're going to be using purple tones which are my favorite and out of this world

17:50decorations hi lacy hello there hi hey oh i love when you come with the arts and crafts oh good

17:57because i'm roping you guys into this project i'm gonna prep some paint for us while you guys chat

18:05okay so i think i found someone to do the chicken coop oh yeah i have a call with him but i'm very

18:09hopeful that he'll be able to do it by tomorrow that is amazing yeah and i had one more idea for

18:14part of my hero moment i'm having just this little heart locket made for her and it'll have a little

18:18tiny picture of willow inside the locket so she can keep it close to her heart all right guys i thought

18:24we could make little glowing space orbs that we could put on the tables and so what we do you take

18:31your sharp exacto knife and you make an x and then you take your battery operated votive and you shove it

18:40through the x and you turn it back on it's like a little night light and it's like a little night

18:46light door but we're gonna make it extra awesome by adding some galactic iridescent paints this is

18:53awesome so i was kind of thinking maybe we have the guests make them i love that idea while we're

18:57painting yeah we should talk about food her cousin dana told us that erin's favorite meal is breakfast

19:03so we already pleased to call into jazz from get caked and he does pancake art at a lot of our events

19:09wait is this where they do the art on the griddle and they can basically draw anything and it turns

19:14into a pancake i've seen videos of this online i think it is amazing it's very entertaining and it's

19:21delicious and we can tie it into our theme by you know making the pancakes represent animals orchids or

19:28things from erin's life that she's interested in will there be other food there or this will be yes we

19:32have a caterer coming that's going to make sandwiches and other light bites yes okay perfect

19:38this sounds great marissa and i found a venue and we're really excited about it it's a blank canvas

19:43it comes with like a beautiful built-in bar already they have lots of exposed beams that we can attach

19:48things to all right should i walk you through the floor plan of what we were thinking please please

19:53and everything's indoors yes we don't have to worry about weather right because it might rain exactly

19:58so when you walk right in through the doors all we want you to see

20:01is this like beautiful colorful galactic orchid party right so we were thinking from the ceiling

20:09we're going to start hanging our lanterns with orchids and some giant oversized orbs iridescent

20:14colored that sounds beautiful we're going to do um a circular couch in the middle oh i like that

20:19do it in a jewel tone color here will be our night light making station we are also planning on making

20:26flower headbands yeah great and over here will be our pancake art we were thinking actually could be

20:31cool to bring in maybe some dancers to like set the mood kind of walking around we were thinking

20:37could they be dressed like orchids could they be dressed like aliens from another planet that's a

20:42great idea i love that plan yeah i feel like we're on a good track right now i'm going to call jeremy

20:47from dare to dream farms and check on the chicken coop finish my hero moment and then we'll circle back

20:51okay all right we should clean this up and go to get caked all right okay do it

21:02brook hooked me up with a company that builds handcrafted chicken coops i'm really hoping the

21:07owner jeremy will be able to deliver in time for our celebration hi i'm lacy chabert it's so nice to

21:15meet you nice to meet you as well hi oh i love goats look at how cute i love goats i did an entire

21:24movie about baby goats and really yes and i am obsessed with them they're so cute awesome so we

21:30are celebrating a wonderful hero her name is aaron and when i had the chance to visit her home yesterday

21:36i saw that she has chickens in the backyard and sadly i learned that one of the chickens was killed

21:41by a predator so i'm hoping to find a chicken coop that offers them just a bit more protection

21:47and safety yeah okay absolutely we have a website we have tons of pictures tons of information

21:53so it would have to be something that's already pretty much made and i'm hoping could be installed

22:00get ready by tomorrow

22:04we can do that uh weather permitting of course but yeah that's what we can do

22:08okay so if it does in fact rain tomorrow would that be a problem yeah i would just because

22:14it's usually going to be very muddy um so for the safety of our crew it's better just to wait for

22:19the weather to dry up well i'm so appreciative for your help i think this is going to be really really

22:23special thank you so much of course okay take care okay that went great i'm so excited as long

22:28as it doesn't rain everything will be just fine i mean if there's one thing los angeles is known for

22:33it's beautiful sunny weather got the chicken coop it looks like uh it's pretty rainy here we only have

22:41four hours i'm kind of getting stressed do you guys need help with anything yes yeah

22:55aaron's galactic orchid party is really coming together while lacy starts to work on our hero moment

23:00we're going to meet with aaron's cousin dana we're meeting her at get kate to show her our pancake

23:05experience and to make sure it's on the right track and that's something that aaron would like

23:10dana here is aaron's cousin and dana has been telling us so much about aaron and what she loves

23:17and we know that aaron loves orchids a lot her or kids we call them oh it's cute yeah because she

23:25has a lot of them and they take a lot of work i was thinking maybe that we can make one of those

23:28today's a pancake thank you that's exactly what we need for this event i'm gonna start drawing it

23:33and then i'll have you sketch the same thing right there with those bottles okay i'm gonna start with

23:39the planter one line okay aaron is going to lose her mind i hope so i always tell people there's a

23:49little bit of magic in pancake art so we used to have sleepovers all the time and then our grandfather he

23:55was famous for his pancakes oh he was yes that is so perfect that we're doing this activity again

24:01meant to be all right are you ready to flip your pancake everybody ready everybody ready one two three

24:12let's do it yeah let's do it yeah oh nice it's so pretty i'm excited to try it oh it's good thank you

24:22it's delicious yeah i'm glad you're welcome it's a great activity and a great dessert

24:43it's the morning of the party and we only have four hours to put together aaron's galactic orchid

24:48celebration this rain is not a problem for a party indoors but it might affect my hero moment and i

24:54just hope the rain dies down so we can install the chicken coop at aaron's house we only have four

24:59hours so i'm kind of getting stressed lay them out we definitely want the space age pillow that's a

25:04winner do you think this is crazy if we do all four it's really fun it's really fun more is more yeah i

25:11think so

25:22good morning i found this in the hallway hi oh my goodness wow this is so beautiful isn't it gorgeous

25:31i am obsessed can i have that delivered to my house afterwards yes would you like to assemble some coffee

25:36table yeah of course you just did it hold on that looks great i thought i was going to pawn it off

25:41on lacy but i figured it out i'm happy to do it are there more but now that i know how to do it and

25:46then this will be our centerpiece that goes on it that right that looks cool right very galactic i'm

25:51so happy about these centerpieces but there are some other parts of the galaxy i need to tend to

25:56okay lacy this is what we're going to do we're getting everything ready for our galactic orchid

26:01celebration we've got the orchids and the iridescent globes and we want to give the guests a little fun

26:08project

26:16it's working okay we don't have much time okay yay okay three hours three hours i need to check in

26:28with jeremy about the chicken coop bill because this rain is not looking good

26:36jeremy hi hi how are you i'm doing okay how are you doing i'm doing pretty good um about the chicken

26:43coop it looks like uh it's pretty rainy here and all the way down to you so it's just not safe for me

26:48to send my guys down there on the road and it gets pretty muddy and messy when we're trying to install

26:52the coops darn okay of course safety first obviously first and foremost um this is a huge

26:59setback i need to find a way to present her with something i really hope lisa and marissa have some

27:06ideas up their sleeve okay everything's looking beautiful but a little bit of news jeremy just

27:11called and the coop is not going to be ready we can't do it today the rain the rain i'm so disappointed

27:16so what's the solution what are we going to do i don't know i mean i want to be able to show her

27:20something maybe just like pictures and a video or pictures is cute yes can you get like a tv or

27:26something i saw a tv monitor back there maybe we can roll it out too so what do i need to get you

27:30just a video file and text it to you or email it can you put it in a dropbox file what's that

27:36hi hey allison so good to see you nice to see you again oh my gosh this looks incredible but aaron's

27:45going to freak out hi hi nice to meet you nice to meet you wow aaron is going to die it is beautiful

27:55and so her this just feels like if you can encapsulate aaron in decor this is it like you guys nailed it

28:02they always do best compliment and i don't even know if i told you this but aaron before getting so

28:09involved with the little zoo was a circus performer and her specialty was a giant bubble artist oh

28:15really she does these it's like a dance with these bubble wands and makes these giant bubbles and it

28:21looks exactly like this so it's just so perfect well we do actually as a surprise for her have

28:26atmospheric dancers coming so they're going to be around the party and they'll be dressed with flowers

28:32on so yeah it's going to be so sweet i'm so happy do you guys need help with anything is there anything

28:37i can do to set up yeah we all say in unison yes we are adding some orchids it just looks magically

28:46growing out of this this looks really cool we have your activity station here and everyone can make

28:52their own little mini planet and take it home with them our pancake artist has just arrived

28:56okay everybody we have 15 minutes 15 minutes till party i only have a few minutes to change before

29:03the guests arrive and i really hope lisa and marissa have been able to find a tv monitor so i can show

29:08aaron what her chicken coop is going to look like

31:58this is like a super weird dream hi i'm lacy you are not here just for an interview and we're here

32:10to surprise you today and celebrate you as a hero for all that you do with the little zoo

32:15you were nominated for this surprise by your friend allison

32:19this was your idea it's been very hard to keep it a secret but you just

32:27give and give and give and ever since i met you i see how much you pour out and you don't always have

32:32the opportunity to get it back and i just wanted all of us to be able to give you a smidgen of the

32:37love that you get rolled every single day there's food kate it's a party there's flowers i'll let

32:46you have fun and celebrate and again this day's all about you so have fun thank you so much thank

32:51you so much seeing all of these incredible faces looking back at me seeing everyone together

32:58just pouring their hearts out with so much love it's a magical experience for sure

33:16you need one i know let's adore you which one do you like aaron is so deserving of this celebration

33:22because she is the most genuine caring loving and selfless person that i know this is so surreal

33:32okay i'm going to outline it in purple because that is my favorite color two three

33:39that core mission of giving this experience to people who may never have had the opportunity to

33:46connect with animals in that way and the connection that she can create between humans and animals

33:52is just it's magnificent how do i look shall i go dance with the dancers yes go dance with the

34:00dancers so aaron to just be like i'm going right in the skirt's amazing

34:09okay everyone if you would gather around we have a special little surprise aaron do you mind

34:15gathering around here okay today we're celebrating you and we know that the celebration

34:22wouldn't be complete if we didn't honor the memory of your precious willow so we wanted to do

34:29something for her so you could have her close to your heart oh my gosh

34:40what a precious gift those kinds of beautiful meaningful gifts are treasure i know it's so hard

34:46to lock it with willow oh my goodness but that is not it we have another surprise when i was at your

34:55home i had the idea to gift you with a new home for your chickens you know something new and cozy and

35:05safe that's incredible and give you peace of mind hopefully it was supposed to be done today and i wanted

35:09you to be able to go home after the celebration and have to do but the rain but the next best thing i

35:17have a video to show you what it's going to look like and what you'll be receiving so if you'll just

35:22look at the tv and we'll show you exactly what's going to be coming your way

35:34so beautiful oh my goodness the little nesting box i love it so much and it's called willow's walk

35:45so many of the things that we have to do for upgrades and upkeep it all falls on me to have

35:57lacy arrange that i'm so excited about the chicken coop thank you everybody that's to honor willow this

36:05will be installed on the chicken coop so there you are wow you guys everybody this is what we do with

36:16the kids can in honor of willow can we do the chicken dance we have one last surprise i love it

36:32you really have affected so many people just all of the comfort and connection that you bring through

36:38the little zoo so we wanted to do something to help you continue all of that goodness more

36:53so on behalf of hallmark i'm so excited to present this ten thousand dollar check to the little zoo

37:23one of the things that we have been really focusing on this year is really being able to offer more

37:36free services completely free for people who can't afford to have what we offer and we struggle and we

37:43scratch and we try to get where we can and we're all so busy doing the work that it's like we don't

37:48have a lot of time for grant writing and we're just not that big of an organization so this will

37:52allow us to really serve the people who need it most so thank you so much i hope that aaron takes away

38:05from this overall experience just how loved she is but also what an impact she has had on her community

38:11she has touched so many hearts from people that are in groups that we visit kids that come to our

38:16events but also just the people in her day-to-day life her family and her friends never in my wildest

38:22dreams could i have imagined something like this happening and it's just so special and so meaningful

38:29you know thank you so much so happy to hear that you deserve it all that love you put out there

38:33coming back to you today here who has a tissue we need like a little tissues flying in

38:41let me see very good perfect okay what incredible gift not only for me as the facilitator of the

38:49little zoo but for every person we're going to visit do you guys want to get in one too yeah we can just

38:54take what we do to so many more people now and it's just amazing so we have an idea because lisa

39:04you've done so much to help the little zoo we're so grateful and we were thinking maybe we could help

39:10you overcome your fear of holding a snake i don't know i don't know i mean i feel like maybe it's baby steps

39:19and like being in the same room as a snake was like a real giant step first you just do one finger

39:25okay i'll just do one finger your heads away don't worry we're just doing a little feel this is what

39:30we do with the kids and the seniors so if they can do it oh of course and then if you just hold here

39:36just to hold just to hold that's right okay i've kind of always wanted to face my fears of snakes and

39:42this was just a small step in the right direction no i didn't hold the snake but i was able to at least

39:47touch it and uh i feel like i made some progress he's very soft oh that's a scale oh don't worry

40:54on animal habitats and we are doing some upgrades um for our website so just all of these fundamentals

41:01help us go out and serve the people that we serve so we are just our hearts overflow with gratitude

41:06and how is it going with the new chicken coop the new chicken coop and run is absolutely a dream come

41:14true not only is it safe but it's protected the coop itself is incredible it's all just completely
