00:00Like everybody who prepares for the JE, I too had targeted a top 100 rank, didn't get it.

00:08So there was this curiosity, reached the campus, what is special about the top 100 rankers?

00:17And since it was IIT Delhi, we even had a few of the top 10 rankers.

00:23And what I found quite curious was that most of them said that they were taken back by their rank.

00:38That the rank came as a surprise to them. These were people who really had their heart

00:46in what they studied. So they loved solving problems, physics, maths, chemistry. They enjoyed that.

00:52It was their enjoyment that kept them going, that enabled them to do the long hours.

01:00And then the result was declared and they said,

01:03All India rank 5, how is that possible?

01:07One of them said, I thought it is some kind of typo or something and waited for 3-4 days

01:14in case the JE office issues a clarification or correction.

01:18That's how you beat the competition. Not by targeting the competition, but by being with yourself.

01:31Nobody's asking.

01:32They won.
