00:05things better. Democrat Katie Porter breaking her silence after two viral clips
00:13rock California's 2026 governor's race. Porter told Inside California Politics and the Working
00:20Families Party, she understands she could have handled both moments better and will hold herself
00:26to a higher standard. In one of the clips, she laughs off a reporter's follow-up question and
00:31threatens to end a TV interview. In another, a 2021 video shows her cursing at an aide who
00:37distracted her during a shoot. Democratic Party rivals pounced. Antonio Villagorosa rolled out an
00:44ad built around the TV exchange saying California needs leaders who answer simple questions. Former
00:50state controller Betty Yee urged Porter to drop out, calling her weak and self-destructive.
00:55But Porter is not leaving. She is still the early Democratic frontrunner to replace term-limited
01:01governor Gavin Newsom. Porter says she will keep meeting with unions and grassroots groups.
01:07The race is fluid. Powerful party insiders are courting U.S. Senator Alex Padilla to jump in.
01:13And billionaire Tom Steyer also fueled speculation with a new ad backing Newsom's redistricting
