00:00Ambitious projects and international partnerships are reshaping Uzbekistan's energy landscape.
00:10Hello and welcome to Business Line Uzbekistan.
00:13As the world races toward a cleaner future, Uzbekistan is taking bold steps to transform its energy landscape.
00:20In 2018, the country ratified the Paris Agreement, pledging to cut greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP by 10% from 2010 levels by 2030.
00:31The country's energy mix has long been dominated by fossil fuels, with natural gas accounting for about 80% of electricity generation.
00:40By December 2024, Uzbekistan had set a goal for solar, wind and hydropower to supply 54% of its electricity by 2030.
00:52The share of green energy, including hydropower, exceeded 20% in the first half of 2025.
00:58Major investors, including companies from Saudi Arabia, China and Europe, are driving this growth through new power purchase agreements
01:06and government-backed incentives, such as competitive tenders, guaranteed tariffs and long-term contracts.
01:13Here is more.
01:14On the banks of the Naran River, in Uzbekistan's Namangyan region, the country's first national hydropower plant,
01:22built entirely with local materials and expertise, now turns the power of water into the pulse of light.
01:28This is the first stage of the Naran hydropower cascade, a project that will include six plants along the river.
01:46The plant will generate 171 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year, enough to power over 430,000 households.
01:56It will help save 290 million cubic meters of natural gas annually and will create more than 100 new jobs.
02:03From flowing water to moving air, the same energy now drives the wind turbines, raising in Cervak,
02:30where a 20-megawatt wind plant is taking shape.
02:33For Uzbekistan, these projects are more than just power stations.
03:01They are part of a larger strategy to ensure energy security and sustainability for generations to come.
03:07When you are the source of energy Now, as a result of the infrastructure, it is a special source of the power of energy from Monique,
03:11where a percentile power supply and investment will not be used.
03:14I am the source of silverware, and I will be a slave part of these projects.
03:16In 25 years, the state has a special source of the infrastructure, I think the power of energy is made of energy.
03:19We will be in the source of the energy power of water.
03:23The energy power of energy energy is made on the power of 2030 in two barrels.

03:44Uzbekistan's energy transformation is taking shape quietly, steadily and powerfully.
03:50Joining us now is Malikya Safar Muhammedva,
03:53Lead Specialist of the Mining and Energy Industry Development Project.
03:56We've seen Uzbekistan made a big progress on this field.
03:59How wind and water energy can contribute to country's energy independence?
04:04Thank you for the very important question.
04:07The energy complex of Uzbekistan is actually moving into a very deep and important stage of modernization.
04:14The progress of the last years is especially noticed in the wind energy.
04:17In 2020, this segment was almost present in the energy balance of the country.
04:23But in 2024, we can see how it became one of the priority areas of the new energy policy of Uzbekistan.
04:34Today, in the country, there are five large electric electric stations,
04:38thanks to which, for the first 9 months of the next year,
04:43we have produced more than 3 billion kW of electric energy.
04:47Thank you for joining us.
04:48Well, that's all we have for this edition.
