00:00Ambitious projects and international partnerships are reshaping Uzbekistan's energy landscape.
00:10Hello and welcome to Business Line Uzbekistan.
00:13As the world races toward a cleaner future, Uzbekistan is taking bold steps to transform its energy landscape.
00:20In 2018, the country ratified the Paris Agreement, pledging to cut greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP by 10% from 2010 levels by 2030.
00:31The country's energy mix has long been dominated by fossil fuels, with natural gas accounting for about 80% of electricity generation.
00:40By December 2024, Uzbekistan had set a goal for solar, wind and hydropower to supply 54% of its electricity by 2030.
00:52The share of green energy, including hydropower, exceeded 20% in the first half of 2025.
00:58Major investors, including companies from Saudi Arabia, China and Europe, are driving this growth through new power purchase agreements
01:06and government-backed incentives, such as competitive tenders, guaranteed tariffs and long-term contracts.
01:13Here is more.
01:14On the banks of the Naran River, in Uzbekistan's Namangyan region, the country's first national hydropower plant,
01:22built entirely with local materials and expertise, now turns the power of water into the pulse of light.
01:28This is the first stage of the Naran hydropower cascade, a project that will include six plants along the river.
01:46The plant will generate 171 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year,
01:52enough to power over 430,000 households.
01:56It will help save 290 million cubic meters of natural gas annually and will create more than 100 new jobs.
02:03From flowing water to moving air, the same energy now drives the wind turbines,
02:29raising in Chervac, where a 20-megawatt wind plant is taking shape.
02:33For Uzbekistan, these projects are more than just power stations.
03:01They are part of a larger strategy to ensure energy security and sustainability for generations to come.
03:07While considering more, the industry voilà having more of the budget for airports and business for electric gas mills,

03:56We've seen Uzbekistan made a big progress on this field.
04:00How wind and water energy can contribute to country's energy independence?
