Finch Farm, Liverpool, UK

00:00Obviously Sunderland going into this game off of the back of that impressive win at Chelsea on Saturday.
00:04What do you think of that performance and the challenge that they'll present to your team on Monday?
00:08I don't think it was just their performance at Chelsea.
00:10I think their performance all season has been really, really good.
00:13I think a lot of people have been surprised by it.
00:16But they've got a great crowd behind them.
00:19They've been really strong at home as well.
00:21But obviously winning at Chelsea for Emdi is a big result.
00:24I think the points total is best by 17 years.
00:26Yeah, actually it's gone back a little bit because in the last recent years I think there's been a lot of media talk about how the promoted sides tend to go down.
00:38I think it sounds as if a lot of them have been listening to that and spent a lot of money trying to make sure that they give themselves every opportunity to stay up.
00:47So I think that Sunderland, Leeds, Burnley are all doing that at the moment.
00:52And, you know, over recent years it's not been easy for the promoted teams to do that.
00:58But this year they're having a right good go at it.
01:00That just sort of unblinds the competitiveness, I guess, of that Premier League right now.
01:04These teams coming up can still give you a real good game as well.
01:07Yeah, well, no, we know that.
01:09I don't think here at Everton we've ever thought that the teams coming up wouldn't give us a really good game.
01:14But I do believe that the Premier League is a big strength.
01:17There's not much between many of the teams.
01:19You know, the games are pretty close.
01:21Yeah, there might be a few teams near the top who in the main would be better.
01:26But I think the rest of the league is quite competitive and not much between it.
01:30Your first time taking the team back to Sunderland since your season there.
01:33How do you reflect on that year or that season?
01:38I had a really good time.
01:40I love being up there.
01:41Difficult in as much as we didn't do so well.
01:44But overall, I had a really good time at Sunderland.
01:48It was a good club.
01:49Maybe at that time we were just a little bit on the back end of a difficult period.
01:55But no, it was a good time.
01:57I had no problem with that.
01:58Just disappointed that we didn't do a bit better.
02:00One of the other reasons this period is so
02:09great for watching how to do a youngẻ and his boyfriend gets brought on.
