Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on whether the traditional top 6 still exists in the Premier League as they prepare to face Bournemouth
Etihad Training Campus, Manchester, UK
Transcript
00:00Bournemouth have sold some of their best players during this summer.
00:02Are you surprised at how well they've adapted since?
00:05Yeah, top. That means how coordinated they are, the hierarchies,
00:10the support directors with the manager, with the players,
00:12the clear philosophy, don't change, of course, the players, you know, change a lot of things,
00:21but, you know, it's impressive.
00:23So, when you lose three or four players for the back four, you know,
00:31PSG, Madrid and Liverpool, and you, you know, reinvest the team with new players
00:38and do it in that way is because there are a lot of good work behind.
00:42We saw Nottingham Forest qualify for Europe last season,
00:46Bournemouth are second at the moment.
00:49How much has the league changed since you've been here
00:52and does that traditional top six still exist, do you think?
00:56Yeah, but I remember when I was in Munich or in Barcelona,
00:59always I have the rumour here in England that it's more difficult
01:02that everyone can beat everyone, you know?
01:05Always had that sense, you know, that it doesn't matter, you go away.
01:11Maybe Liverpool and ourselves in the past, you know, changed the dynamics,
01:16that we were so consistent in terms of points, arriving every season,
01:19more than 90, 90, 90, 90 points, close to 100 points.
01:23But I think Premier League maybe it's back to always have been, you know,
01:28and all the teams can beat it, and it's good.
01:31I think, you know, it's like at some point, like NBA,
01:37that there's not a dominant team, and every last four or five or six years
01:41always win one different team in the NBA, you know,
01:45and everyone can beat everyone.
01:47So I think for the spectator, for the show, for the Premier League,
01:51I think it's really, really good.
01:52Alright,
02:02here we go.
