hi everyone and welcome so recently we have received this rdk x5 single board computer
00:08
from the d-robotics now the variant i have which is having 4 gb of ram okay so in this video we
00:15
are going to cover the getting started card for this rdk x5 single board computer and once we
00:20
flash the operating system to the sd card we are going to integrate this board with 7 inch hdmi
00:26
display and we have received this display from the elacro okay so let's get started so first of
00:32
all i'm going to plug the sd card into the sd card reader okay and i'm going to insert this into my
00:39
system okay now what we will do is we will open the sd card formatter and we will format the sd card
00:49
okay here you can see my sd card is having size of 64 gb and this much capacity is usable so
01:01
rdk x5 okay and i'm going to click on format
01:09
okay sd card is successfully formatted now we will close this sd card formatter tool
01:14
okay and here i have downloaded the desktop operating system okay ubuntu pre-installed desktop
01:22
operating system for our rdk x5 single board computer i will also provide the download link
01:28
okay in the description of this video so you can directly download whenever you have any requirement
01:34
and i have also uploaded both of the images on our github repository so you can also download
01:39
it from there so first of all we will open the balena eacher software
01:46
and then we will select the option flash from file and here you can see the robotics operating
01:51
system rdk x5 and i want to go with the desktop operating system which is having size of 9.04 gb
02:01
i'm going to select it okay
02:03
okay okay if you get this kind of error then just close the balena eacher
02:11
go back to this folder i mean get out of that folder and again open the balena eacher in the
02:17
administrative mode
02:20
okay we will click on flash from file we'll select the desktop operating system
02:25
and that's it you won't get the error again now click on select target and we are going to select
02:33
our 64 gb of sd card here and then we'll press select and then we are going to click on flash
02:39
so it will start flashing the ubuntu desktop operating system to the sd card and once the flash is done
02:46
we are going to put the sd card back to our rdk x5 single board computer and we are going to you
02:52
know plug the hdmi cable with our seven inch screen as well as a usb cable with our seven inch screen
03:00
for the touch inputs and we are going to power up this rdk x5 single board computer and here you can
03:06
see we have the sd card slot okay so let's wait for the balena eacher to complete flashing
03:22
check it out
04:56
Okay, so here you can see flash completed.
04:59
Okay, now we can remove the SD card from our system and we can plug that to our RDK X5 single
05:06
board computer.
05:07
So here is the SD card with Ubuntu operating system, which I have recently flashed and
05:13
I'm going to insert in our RDK X5.
05:17
Now, we will connect this RDK X5 with our 7 inch HDMI display.
05:23
I hope it is visible.
05:35
So here is our 7 inch HDMI display and here is our D-Robotics RDK X5 single board computer.
05:42
Now, I'm going to power it on using USB Type-C cable.
05:47
So here is our Type-C cable and it is power on.
05:53
Here you can see the green LED.
05:56
Okay, so it means our board is power on.
05:58
Now, let's wait for a few minutes.
06:07
Okay, here you can see.
06:18
Operating system is successfully loaded, which is our Ubuntu desktop operating system with
06:23
the XFCE desktop environment.
06:26
Okay, here you can see the touch is working as well as we can connect to our Wi-Fi and it
06:31
is supporting both 4G and 5G Wi-Fi network.
06:34
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to connect my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse here.
06:39
Okay, so here is our Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, I'm going to turn it on and yeah, I'm going
06:52
to connect with the 5G Wi-Fi network.
06:57
Okay, it will ask for the password and here we will provide the password.
07:05
And then enter.
07:06
And let's wait, you can see connection established.
07:11
So we have successfully connected with our 5G Wi-Fi network.
07:14
Now I'm going to show you the CPU details as well as memory and system details.
07:19
Okay, so here we can type LS block and here you can see we have one block with the 59.5 GB,
07:29
which is our SD card.
07:31
Okay, we don't have any other blocks available.
07:33
Then after free, hyphen, H and here you can see 3 GB total.
07:42
Okay, and free is 1.9 GB and this much is under use.
07:47
Then after we will type DF hyphen TH and here you can see the partition details.
07:55
Okay, each partition is having how much of size.
07:59
Then after we will check the CPU details.
08:01
So LS CPU and then enter.
08:04
Now here you can see, total we have 8 core CPU.
08:14
Okay, Cortex-A55.
08:17
Okay, so this is what we have with the RDK X5 single board computer.
08:23
And I hope it is clear that how you can flash the Ubuntu desktop operating system to the SD card
08:29
using Balena Eger software for your D-Robotics RDK X5 single board computer.
08:35
And then how you can integrate HDMI screen with your D-Robotics RDK X5 SBC.
08:41
Okay, which is we have done here.
08:43
Now you can close the terminal.
08:48
Okay, and you can access the application as per your requirement.
08:54
Okay, there are many applications available.
08:58
Okay, here you can see accessories, development, graphics and internet and so many things.
09:06
So I hope everything is clear.
09:10
And if you still have any question or any doubt, then you can ping me on Telegram, Instagram, WhatsApp, anywhere.
09:15
Also, you can put comment on this video.
09:17
So let's meet in the future videos.
09:19
And in the future video, instead of flashing the desktop operating system to our RDK X5 SBC,
09:27
we are going to flash the server operating system.
09:31
Okay, so let's meet in the future videos.
09:33
Okay, till then, take care.
09:35
Goodbye and thank you.
