00:00In the first episode of The Girlfriend, we see Laura's perspective as she recalls events from
00:04five months ago. As she and her partner argue on the phone about where to look,
00:09she is startled by a sudden sound. The possibility that it could be a member of her family prompts
00:15her to investigate. The sound is actually a cat thumping a vase, so that's a positive development.
00:22Subsequently, her son Daniel demonstrates their strong bond as a mother and son by
00:26shocking her in the water. His new crush is brought up in conversation. Laura discusses her new
00:33girlfriend with her friend Isabella as she prepares dinner. She expresses her nervousness about finally
00:39meeting her. It appears that Laura's dread was well-founded upon first encountering Cherry.
00:45As the evening progresses, Laura discovers that her son exhibits unusual sensitivity towards Cherry.
00:51Just after that, Laura rushes over to visit Daniel and Cherry, but she discovers that they are having
00:56intercourse and quickly departs. Her husband Howard keeps reminding her that they were once like that.
01:03Conversations that start at the dinner table and get deep keep going all night long.
01:08After Cherry reveals her alma mater, Laura adds that their goddaughter also attended that institution.
01:14After initially claiming to be unaware of her identity, Cherry regains her memory.
01:19Rose, their daughter, was only there for a short time, according to Laura.
01:23While Cherry is telling Laura the story of Daniel's career shift from paediatrics to surgery,
01:30Laura overhears her.
01:32We didn't decide, according to Laura, who isn't very happy about it.
01:37Laura inadvertently spills hot coffee on Cherry, who supports Daniel's choice to switch.
01:42While the night wears on, Laura discovers in Cherry's suitcase a bracelet that mirrors the one she
01:47currently owns. In addition, even at this hour of night, she has been unable to locate her cat within
01:53the house. While at the spa after dinner, Laura fills Isabella in on all the strange things that
01:59transpired when they first met Cherry. Still hasn't found her cat, and Laura suspects Cherry of
02:05harboring secrets. Brigitte, Isabella's daughter, interrupts them to inquire as to why her mom did
02:11not show up for her lawyer's appointment. They had sexual relations, therefore now she's trying to avoid
02:17him. While Daniel and Cherry are at Laura's art exhibition, Laura keeps a close eye on them.
02:24When Laura contacted Cherry's purported school, the principal denied ever having visited.
02:29For an instant, Laura watches her husband stand next to another lady while she caresses his butt.
02:35That is irrelevant to her. She turns to Howard instead, inquiring about Daniel and Cherry,
02:41who she believes are due to join her for dinner.
02:43It was his statement that they departed. After the art show, Laura returns home to discover her
02:50husband, much to her surprise. It would have been fine with her if she had assumed he was staying
02:56with Marianne. It seemed strange to Howard that Daniel hadn't said farewell before leaving.
03:02After their intimate encounter, Daniel inquires as to if she is prepared for him to part ways with
03:07Marianne. She prefers it this way and doesn't want to be. Their marriage appears to be open.
03:14After posting posters in search of her missing cat, Laura visits Cherry's office to verify if she is
03:19actually employed there. While she's outside, she overhears Cherry and a man bickering.
03:26He yells out, I'm getting married on Saturday, and Cherry swiftly strikes him for his outburst.
03:32Everything in the pilot is framed through Cherry's eyes. When Daniel first lays eyes on her,
03:37he is instantly smitten. She spits in her cup in disbelief that her dishonest co-worker
03:42got a promotion instead of her. Cherry encounters the man she battled with later on as she departs
03:48from her cycling lesson. They just stare at each other without saying a word. Daniel visits her place
03:55of employment to inquire about a rental unit. She is willing to collaborate with him despite his having
04:01spoken to someone else. They playfully flirt with each other as she shows him about the place.
04:07She approaches him for advice after breaking into another apartment, and he muses on how they should
04:12commemorate his recent move in. They are celebrating sex. On their third date, he whisks her away to the
04:20hotel owned by his dad. Concerned about his mother, she confides in him that she lost her father at the age of
04:2614. Cherry had already visited Daniel's residence, but without his parents. Cherry quickly ducks out
04:34of sight as she tries on Laura's jewelry after overhearing her on the phone. As she hears the
04:39vase shatter, Laura quickly escapes the room, narrowly avoiding capture. Cherry and Laura had vastly
04:46different impressions of their initial encounter with Daniel's mother. Cherry notes that upon first
04:51meeting, Laura comes across as cold and unfriendly. Cherry notices that Laura is observing them as
04:57they are intimately touching. Afterwards, Laura appears thrilled as she accidentally spills coffee
05:03on Cherry. While cleaning up, Cherry decides to let Moses out through a window despite her knowledge
05:09that he is an indoor-only cat. Cherry gets bombarded with inquiries from Laura who is determined to find
05:15out her father's occupation by researching him online. And Daniel puts a stop to it. The entire
05:22situation seems much more antagonistic when seen through Cherry's eyes. Cherry's mom thinks Cherry's
05:28neighbor would be a better choice for a romantic partner. Cherry's mother believes her daughter's
05:33boyfriend will never propose to her because of his wealth. The trip to the exhibition takes on a new
05:39tone because Cherry believes Laura dislikes her. Despite her best efforts, Laura remains
05:45unresponsive to her attempts at conversation. Because Cherry feels uneasy seeing a familiar face,
05:51she persuades Daniel to leave. Daniel asks Cherry to accompany him and his parents to Spain since he
05:57is already in a deep, passionate love. I love her, he adds. We see the slapping scene unfold via Cherry's
06:05eyes. A man approaches her, accusing her of pursuing him and his fiancée. His insults lead her to physically
06:13assault him. Daniel requested Cherry to accompany him to Spain, which Cherry reveals to Laura when they
06:19cross paths. When Cherry's mother, a butcher, removes an animal's guts and places them in a bag,
06:25the first episode ends in a very disturbing way. It all becomes evident when the camera pans to Cherry's
06:31ex-boyfriend, who accused her of stalking him and is now celebrating his marriage to the woman he loves.
06:37A terrifying stream of blood gushes forth as they slice into the cake, soaking them.
06:43Cherry leaves the wedding with a smile on her face after taking off her catering outfit.

06:53Cherry, and Daniel, exploring themes of jealousy, deception, and hidden pasts.

07:03like an outsider amidst the family dynamics. Flashbacks reveal Cherry's nervousness and
07:09insecurities as she navigates the vacation with Daniel and his family, highlighting her desire
07:14to fit in. Tensions rise as secrets are uncovered, including Daniel's past relationships and Cherry's

10:19choosing Cherry over his mother, even after Cherry's manipulative behavior. The episode culminates

11:23he can't breathe. Daniel picks Cherry instead of Laura, and Laura seems to give up. She tells him to
11:30remain for a drink for a few minutes. He accepts, and instead of attempting again to show him why Cherry
11:37is hazardous, she gives her son pills. She tries to play him the message when he is high. Cherry rushes into
