New York City was devastated by intense flash flooding after record-breaking rainfall overwhelmed streets, subways, and basements across multiple boroughs. At least two people tragically lost their lives—one found in a flooded Brooklyn basement and another recovered from a submerged boiler room in Washington Heights.

Central Park recorded 1.8 inches of rain, shattering a century-old record. Flash flood warnings were issued for Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx as powerful storm conditions caused widespread chaos, submerged vehicles, stranded commuters, and forced more than a thousand Northeast flight cancellations.
