00:00Hello and welcome back to the Tuning Blog channel.
00:05Today, for the third time, we're going to be testing a device from Lanmodo.
00:13This is another night vision camera with a standard dashcam function.
00:18As I said, this is the third device we've tested.
00:21The special feature here is that unlike the other two devices, the camera isn't integrated into the screen, but is separate.
00:37There's an adhesive mount for the windshield, where you can attach it, and the advantage is that you can actually adjust the camera in multiple areas of the windshield.
00:49This is a bit more difficult with the previous model, where the camera is integrated.
00:58Um, whether that is necessary, yes, everyone has to decide for themselves, because if you hang the screen, let's say, the land motor screen on the windshield with a suction cup, or with this stand, which can be removed, that is the alternative, uh, with the stand on the dashboard, then in my opinion the entire windshield area is covered, and uh, well, I don't know if that's such a big advantage.
01:19Maybe it depends a bit on the area of use and also on the vehicle.
01:26There may also be vehicles that are used somewhere in the outback, where it might make more sense if the camera is on the rear window or in the side window or whatever.
01:34So, that would be an area of use, uh, that I can imagine, but that is certainly irrelevant for most people.
01:41Uh, what is there to say? Well, purely in terms of function compared to the other models. By the way, I'll fade it in at the top right for you.
01:49Uh, there's the 2019 model and I think the 2020 model.
01:56By the way, the differences aren't that big.
02:00Uh, here too, it's promised that the recordings are crystal clear at night and, uh, no matter whether it's raining, snowing in a tunnel, on the highway or whatever, uh, the recording is almost always identical, uh, good, at least that's what the manufacturer promises.
02:15Otherwise, uh, the device offers a distance of 300 meters, uh, yes, or range.
02:24You can see 300 meters, I think, if the vehicle's high beam is switched on.
02:29Uh, yeah, I'll leave that aside for now, is it 280 or is it really 300 meters, but yes, that's what Landmolo promises.
02:36Uh, the camera has a 75 degrees angle, which is a bit higher than the model with the integrated camera.
02:46Uh, that's not bad, because it also makes the image clearer and of course the area to the right and left of the windshield is completely covered, I would say.
02:54Otherwise, the functions are relatively the same.
02:59Here too, depending on the connection, if connected with permanent plus.
03:04Here again, there is a connection for an OBD plug, right?
03:08So, there is a cigarette lighter connection and then there is the OBD connection for power supply.
03:13Depending on the vehicle, the OBD connection can of course also enable the device to have continuous power and thus be able to record overnight and so on.
03:23If that is not the case, you have to figure out how to get power for 24 hours, exactly.
03:29That means that when the ignition is off, it still continues to film, because in my opinion, one disadvantage is that there is still no integrated battery.
03:40It shouldn't last 20 hours.
03:43One that lasts 12 or 15 hours might be enough.
03:46I think that would be a cool thing.
03:49So that you can continue recording at night, when the car is parked or in general when the car is parked.
03:55Okay, it doesn't have that.
03:57Another disadvantage, we're here to point out the disadvantages.
04:03Another disadvantage for me is clearly the relatively bulky design.
04:07So, you have the screen, you have this extra camera hanging in the windshield.
04:12It's not easy to fit both things into the vehicle, at least if you pay a little attention to keeping the interior tidy.
04:18Because the two devices, let's say, also have a cable and such connections are of course very difficult to hide.
04:28So, in my opinion, you can't really hide them anymore, they're hanging around somewhere in the car.
04:34If you can live with that, then that's fine.
04:36Another disadvantage for me is the screen, I can activate it here.
04:43The screen doesn't have a touch function, still not.
04:47For whatever reason, there are buttons on top for the menu and so on and so forth.
04:52That's fine, but there is no touch function in that sense.
04:57So, and now you can, well, that's basically the function of the camera.
05:02Exactly, it's a bit close now.
05:05Of course, it's clear that it's relatively blurry.
05:08But I'll show you later in the vehicle how it works exactly.
05:12Of course, the camera has to be further away.
05:15You have the hood and the windshield here, so at least 2 meters, let's say, or 3 meters in front of the vehicle is realistic and from there it becomes sharp.
05:24So it's sharp enough that you can see license plates, you can see traffic signs and yes, you can see everything around you.
05:34Uh, yes, what else is there to say?
05:37There is an optional rear view camera, which has a 170 degrees angle.
05:42It's not included here, I can't show you.
05:45Uh, then there is the option of attaching it to the windshield, I don't know if I've already mentioned it.
05:50Then, uh, there's this bracket for it, which is screwed in here, the screen is attached, and then the stand is removed.
05:58Uh, and alternatively, there are also two brackets for the interior mirror.
06:03A kind of strap, what do you put in the rear view mirror?
06:06You can basically put the screen in front of the rear view mirror.
06:09Otherwise, this 128GB SD card is included.
06:13Definitely a high quality card.
06:14Uh, that's pretty cool, because something like that with 128GB and, uh, fast data processing also costs a few euros.
06:24Uh, so yeah, I'm going to show you the device outside in the vehicle now.
06:28I have a small scooper to test today.
06:33Uh, I'm going to use the stand again and then attach the camera from the outside, and then I'll just show you a recording during the day and then I'll show you a recording at night.
06:43So, uh, the vehicle lights are switched off, so that the thing can actually film in pitch darkness.
06:52So, that actually works, uh, and yes, otherwise the normal functionality, uh, with the lights from the vehicle, right?
07:00What I still have to mention is that the manufacturer, Lanmodo, claims that it should make driving in the dark significantly safer, since everything to the right, left and in the distance is recognized by the night vision function.
07:17I can definitely confirm that, even with the other two devices.
07:21However, there is still an undeniable disadvantage, which is the fact that you either have to look straight ahead when driving, or you have to look at the screen.
07:33You can't do both at all.
07:36It's stressful when you try to look back and forth.
07:39For me, the biggest disadvantage is that I have to take my eyes off the road to look at the screen to see if there's anything in the dark.
07:47I'll leave it up to you whether you can drive with it.
07:51I would rather say that you shouldn't drive with it and should concentrate on the screen.
07:56Otherwise, it's definitely a better function at night.
08:00Also, should an accident occur, this is definitely a good way to show a crystal clear image, even at night.
08:09What is usually the case with many other dashcams, no matter what the manufacturers say, you can always see that the video you record at night, with the headlights, low beam or high beam, no matter which camera,
08:20no matter what price range, we've had them all up to 6700 euros, is still hardly able to actually provide a razor sharp image, which would also make it possible to find a license plate.
08:30There are only a few cameras that can do that, so this one definitely can.
08:36Yes, that's it now.
08:37Now let's go outside into the vehicle and I'll show you the camera installed.
08:40This is what it looks like when it's installed.
08:46It's definitely visible from the outside.
08:51Here's the screen, there's the camera.
08:54Now of course it depends a bit on the vehicle.
08:56I'm not really a Skoda expert, but in any case, the car is locked and has been for a few minutes now, but as you can see, I don't know if you can tell, so the cigarette lighter seems to be constantly on, because the screen is on.
09:11So, it would probably stay on overnight and light up the vehicle brightly during the day.
09:15I'll open the car now, that doesn't change anything, right?
09:18So, the power is still on.
09:21Uh, yes, it's installed.
09:23As I said, my biggest problem with something like this is really the cable distribution, well, they're not broken or anything, don't worry, but you could easily stow them in the glove compartment.
09:33But that's basically the current state of things.
09:36You have to get used to it.
09:38Of course, there are ways to stow the cables there and also to install them cleverly.
09:42Uh, you could route the cable along the roof lining up here and so on and so forth.
09:48It could work, but at least you can't get rid of this bunch of cables.
09:52It's 10 centimeters long.
09:53Where is this huge part supposed to go at the back?
09:55That's going to be difficult.
09:56Uh, yeah, okay, that's it.
09:58So, for me, those are the disadvantages that I mentioned, but of course they have nothing to do with the function, it's just a visual thing.
10:07Uh, otherwise there's a menu button for the device here.
10:12That's basically the menu.
10:15There aren't really many settings there.
10:17I can't find anything that, for example, switches the screen off for 10 minutes when the vehicle is no longer moving.
10:24That would be my train of thought.
10:26Uh, it seems to stay on all night and draws power continuously.
10:30Uh, yeah, I'll leave it up to you to decide how much I think it draws, it draws about 10 watts.
10:36So, with a good car battery it works, but if the car has been standing for a week or two, I don't know.
10:42Okay, back to the menu.
10:43Otherwise, there are the typical dashcam functions here, the loop time, right?
10:49When will the video be overridden again?
10:51Then you can adjust the brightness of the screen.
10:54Yes, you can actually read everything.
10:56Uh, what is not available is a German menu.
10:59You should also be able to speak English.
11:02Uh, you can also set whether the device is attached to the windshield or whether it has a stand.
11:07This is simply because when it is attached to the windshield, it is mirrored and then it rotates the screen.
11:15Those were essentially the functions.
11:17Uh, and now the important thing is the test drive in the dark, also in the light.
11:22Uh, I'll insert a video for you of how the camera films in the helmet and then I'll insert a video for you of how it films in the dark and then I think you'll be well informed and can form an opinion and if that is interesting for you, then go for it.
11:35I'll include the link where you can buy the Landmodo.
11:42Uh, there's also the blog post on the right, where all the information I've just told you is written down again.
11:50So, here's the fun part, uh, at dusk.
11:55So, it's 8pm now.
11:57It's really dark in the forest that I have in front of me, so it might not come across that well on my phone.
12:07Uh, it's trying to make everything a little brighter and make the picture better, but it's really dark, and here you can see a comparison.
12:13So, uh, it's bright as day, right?
12:19But when you're driving now, you can actually see a very, very clear difference.
12:28And now the whole thing again in pitch darkness.
12:30So, the normal vehicle lights are on now and here we have the Landmodo night vision device.
12:37I hope it doesn't overexpose too much.
12:40And now I'm going to turn the vehicle lights off completely.
12:43So, it's really, you can't see your hand in front of your face here.
12:47It's pitch black, to put it that way, and yes, you could definitely, I'll try to drive it now.
12:58So, this is basically a T-Rex view.
13:01That's really cool, right?
13:03Here for comparison, the image is reflected outside.
13:07I can look out here.
13:11Okay, now turn on the car lights.
13:13That makes it a bit brighter, right?
13:14High beam.
13:17High beam.
13:22Yes, it's a promise, and they definitely keep it.
13:27So, you can drive completely without lights, which of course isn't the point of the thing,
13:32but it should illustrate what is possible with the night vision device.
13:37So, I hope you've had a long, thorough impression now.
13:40Are there any questions left unanswered?
13:41If so, then just write them in the comments.
13:44Uh, as we have time, as I have time, as someone from TuningBlock has time, we'll definitely answer them.
13:51And yes, if you liked it, please leave a subscription. If you didn't like it, please leave one too. I'd be happy. Until the next video, ciao, bye.
14:11Bye.
14:41Bis zum nächsten Mal.
15:11Bis zum nächsten Mal.
15:41Bis zum nächsten Mal.
16:11Bis zum nächsten Mal.
