Tetsuya Yamagami, the man accused of assassinating former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday, admitting, “Everything is true.” The 45-year-old confessed to using a homemade gun to Kill Abe during a 2022 campaign speech in Nara. Yamagami said he acted over Abe’s alleged ties to the Unification Church, which he blamed for his family’s financial ruin. The trial, held under tight security, coincides with Donald Trump’s Tokyo visit, where he honored Abe as a “great friend.”
