00:02In the 1960s, there was a man named Phil E. Cheese, a well-known figure in Rhode Island,

00:08famous for his real estate advertisements plastered on billboards and TV screens.

00:12However, Phil carried a dark secret.

00:15He wasn't really a real estate agent at all.

00:17His career was merely a cover, a means to lure victims into his home.

00:21For years, he had operated under this guise without suspicion,

00:25until a newlywed couple, Mick and Crystal Beth, crossed his path.

00:28On October 18th, 1966, Mick and Crystal scheduled a house visit with Phil.

00:34They were unaware of the dangerous situation they were walking into.

00:38As soon as they stepped inside, they both sensed something was wrong.

00:41The house was outdated and dirty, which turned them off.

00:45But they decided to stick it out just to be polite.

00:47As the showing came to an end, Phil mentioned,

00:50There's one last thing I'd like to show y'all.

00:52He led them to the basement.

00:54Once they reached the bottom, he locked the door behind them.

00:56They heard his voice from above.
