Diamond Clarity: What Makes a Diamond Pure!
Transcript
00:00Clarity. Clarity refers to the purity of the diamond. Diamonds can contain internal flaws
00:05called inclusions or external flaws called blemishes. Inclusions can sometimes be seen
00:11with the naked eye, but often they're only visible under a microscope. Blemishes are surface
00:16imperfections that can affect a diamond's brilliance. Generally speaking, the fewer flaws
00:22a diamond has, the rarer it is and the more valuable it becomes. Cut. A diamond's cut affects
00:28its brilliance and fire. It also affects its durability. If a diamond is poorly cut, it
00:34won't reflect light as well, and it will wear down more quickly. The proportions, symmetry,
00:39and polish of a diamond all contribute to its quality. In fact, cut is responsible for roughly
00:44half of a diamond's sparkle.
