00:00Glenn Tipton is celebrating his 78th birthday, and we want to celebrate with this post.
00:11Glenn joined Judas Priest in 1974 and has remained loyal to the band to this day.
00:18This makes him, alongside Ian Hill, one of the few musicians to have played on all of
00:22the band's studio albums. He is known for his complex solos, some of which are influenced
00:28by classical music. Another characteristic feature of his playing style are the two-part
00:33runs with longtime second lead guitarist K. K. Downing, who has since been replaced by Richie
00:39Faulkner. To this day, his guitar playing continues to influence many musicians from a wide variety
00:45of metal and rock genres, who build on Glenn's sound or even adopt it. Songs such as Breaking
00:52the Law, Electric Eye, and Living After Midnight achieved cult status thanks to his iconic
00:57riffs and solos, demonstrating how much heart can be put into an instrument.
01:02In 2018, fans were shocked to learn that Glenn had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease
01:07and announced that he would no longer be touring. He has been officially offstage for almost
01:12eight years, but his influence continues. Despite Parkinson's, he recorded vocals for
01:18Priest's albums and wrote the songs. Their latest album, Invincible Shield, reached number
01:24one in many countries, thanks in part to Glenn. Happy birthday again to this absolute legend,
01:30and let's hope that despite Parkinson's, he will remain with us for a long time to come.
01:54I'll see you next time.
01:57Bye.
02:02Bye.
