When entitlement meets sports, chaos ensues! Join us as we count down the most outrageous sports Karens who faced major backlash for their behavior. From stolen souvenirs and profanity-laced tirades to shocking physical confrontations, these entitled fans learned the hard way that bad behavior has consequences. What's your worst fan experience?
00:00I don't think a day passes when I really don't thank Jacques Semple for attacking me in the race.
00:03Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most infamous Karens,
00:07the rudest and most entitled folk who demonstrated their terrible behavior
00:11while watching professional sporting events and received deserved consequences.
00:15The Eagles fan has been banned from the link,
00:18and his former employer, a New Jersey consulting firm, tells us they fired him.
00:24Number 10, Penguin Pinscher.
00:25Finders Keepers is a rule that we all live by adamantly.
00:28Well, unless you're this guy.
00:29There was a sudden commotion in the stands at PPG Paints Arena.
00:33In 2025, as the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins played the Tampa Bay Lightning,
00:36a puck got stuck in the netting.
00:38So, a kid went over and shook it so he could take away the souvenir.
00:41However, when the puck hit the ground, an older Karens swept in and grabbed it,
00:44reportedly giving it to his granddaughter.
00:46Penguins faithful were not happy with the older man,
00:49and many took out their phones to start recording.
00:51Unfortunately for him, everyone nearby saw what happened and rained booze upon him.
00:55One of the Penguins' wives then arrived and offered the boy another puck.
00:57Shortly after, the Karen got into an argument with the boy's mother, nearly causing her to get violent.
01:02Due to his behavior, Karen was swiftly escorted from the building.
01:05At that point, it sort of got out of hand, and there were some hand gestures,
01:08and the older gentleman was escorted out of the building.
01:10Number 9, Ball Hogger.
01:12Unlike some sports, in football, you can't keep the ball if it goes into the crowd.
01:15After all, it's pretty big.
01:16Yet when Leeds United faced Chelsea in England's Premier League in 2022, one woman ignored this rule.
01:22With Leeds losing, the ball went into the crowd for a Chelsea throw-in.
01:24The woman grabbed the ball, yelling,
01:26It's our ball now, as fellow attendees around her and Chelsea's Marco Alonso found the funny side.
01:31However, Leeds' Rafinha definitely didn't, as he was furious that she was wasting time.
01:35Many on social media sided with the Brazilian's reaction, finding it bizarre she was doing this,
01:39especially when Leeds were behind and went on to lose 3-0.
01:42Number 8, Nasty to Nadal.
01:44It's a well-known rule that attendees at tennis matches have to be quiet, especially during a serve.
01:48Thanks, madam. You're delaying everything.
01:50However, one woman at the 2021 Australian Open decided to do the opposite.
01:54With Rafael Nadal taking on Michael Moe in the second round,
01:57Karen yelled abuse at the Spaniard as he went to serve.
02:00She screamed obscenities and mocked his on-court rituals as OCD.
02:03Amazingly, Nadal found the situation amusing.
02:05Here comes security, finally.
02:07When the umpire called her out, she responded by flipping the bird,
02:10bringing wide-eyed reactions from those unlucky enough to be around her.
02:13As a result of refusing to be respectful, Karen was kicked out of the venue.
02:17Nadal joked afterwards that she may have had one too many drinks.
02:20Maybe, uh, he take it too much gin or tequila. I don't know, but...
02:27Number 7, Courtside Karen.
02:29Following the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, fans were allowed to return to watch sports live,
02:35as long as they followed rules such as wearing face masks.
02:37Shot clock at 2. LeBron hangs and hits off the high glass.
02:41Well, that went out the window when Juliana Carlos observed the Atlanta Hawks taking on the Los Angeles Lakers.
02:47During the match, LeBron James got into a brief argument with Juliana's husband, Chris Carlos,
02:51which the NBA legend later suggested Chris took too far.
02:54They're still on LeBron. I think that's what it is.
02:56Yeah, a few minutes ago, and I know he was glaring into the seats.
02:59This sparked Juliana to pull her mask down and scream profanities at James.
03:02This resulted in Juliana, Chris, and two other fans being ejected.
03:06Juliana, whom James dubbed Courtside Karen, was initially defiant on social media.
03:10Just got kicked out of the game for top f***ing to LeBron James.
03:14However, she later apologized.
03:16Number 6, The Gift That Caused a Brawl.
03:18In 2009, legendary Canadian hockey star Scott Niedermeyer was in the twilight of his playing career.
03:23The hit by Niedermeyer, and the shot by Niedermeyer from the point.
03:27After scoring the winning goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning for the Anaheim Ducks,
03:31he wanted to do something nice by gifting a young fan his hockey stick.
03:34Instead, it sparked a massive brawl,
03:36with Niedermeyer watching the mayhem from the ice several adults grabbed for the stick.
03:39Now, he's awarded the number one star.
03:41So he goes in and, look, he's going to give the young lady the stick.
03:44After a brief standoff with words exchanged, it escalated to an exchange of punches,
03:48which was seemingly started by the girl's father, professional skateboarder Mike Vallely.
03:52Due to instigating the battle, Vallely was reportedly arrested for his involvement,
03:56and later the Ducks cut ties with him as he blogged for the team.
03:59Unfortunately, yeah.
03:59All right, well, we have a message for them.
04:01Whoever gets the stick first, just hang on to it.
04:03Everybody else calm down, okay?
04:05Yeah, well, it was for the little girl.
04:07Number five, Phillies, Karen.
04:08Can there be anything better than getting a ball used in a professional game?
04:12Yes, the one that was the result of a home run.
04:14It was a dream come true.
04:15Phillies fan Andrew Feltwell caught a home run ball off the bat of Harrison Bader.
04:20And in 2025, one lucky kid believed he'd gotten that
04:22after Harrison Bader's homer for the Philadelphia Phillies against the Miami Marlins.
04:26Andrew Feltwell rushed to grab the ball and handed it to his son.
04:30However, Karen, who was involved in the initial scramble, wasn't having that.
04:33Another Phillies fan stomping over to the Feltwell family, startling them.
04:37You can see in this now viral video, the woman screaming, claiming the ball was hers to take.
04:43She was caught on camera yelling at the family.
04:45Wanting the confrontation to end, Feltwell relented and gave her the ball.
04:49However, fear not, the boy was given a goodie bag and a signed ball from Bader.
04:52Several women have been incorrectly identified as the Karen, causing Feltwell to ask people
04:56to stop searching.
04:57They have been trying to find this woman.
05:01And I know she's probably waking up like, oh my gosh, what did I do?
05:04Number four, Miss Scotland Shame.
05:06When someone is crowned as queen of a country's beauty pageant,
05:08you expect them to have many positive characteristics,
05:11such as empathy, kindness, and social awareness.
05:13Unfortunately, those are traits that seemingly skipped 2023 Miss Scotland winner Lucy Thompson.
05:18That same year, she was booted from the Edinburgh City Sevens, a music and rugby sevens festival.
05:22Thompson, reportedly heavily intoxicated, was asked to leave by staff.
05:26However, she told a security guard, do you know who I am, and bragged about her bank account.
05:30She then bit two guards' hands and called one a racial slur.
05:32Unsurprisingly, Thompson didn't defend her Miss Scotland crown in 2024.
05:36Instead, in 2025, she was found guilty of the attack and fined 790 euro.
05:40Number three, Double Team Steel.
05:42New York Yankees fans don't have a great reputation, not only in the MLB, but across all sports.
05:46And in 2024, Austin Capobianco and John Hanson didn't help change that.
05:51Yankees fans we spoke with today seemed to support an effort that was, at the very least, impolite.
05:57At the most, reckless.
05:59During the World Series, the duo was watching their team battle the Los Angeles Dodgers.
06:03In Game 4, the Dodgers' Mookie Betts caught Glaber Torres' pop fly near the retaining wall.
06:08Betts has that ball in his glove, and this fan literally tries to take his glove off!
06:13Instead of getting on with the game, one of the souvenir-greedy fans grabbed the ball from Betts' glove as the other restrained his free hand before they both dropped the ball.
06:20This shocking interference not only got Capobianco and Hanson ejected and barred from Game 5, but they were also banned from all MLB games.
06:28There has to be a boundary between the field and the fans, and the fans have to stay on their side.
06:34Number 2, egregious eagle.
06:36According to Ryan Caldwell, who reportedly uses they-them pronouns, if banter gets out of hand and becomes more provocative, it's excusable to go on a misogynistic tirade.
06:44This viral video from Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field Sunday captures the moment trash talk took a turn.
06:51In 2025, they showcased this deeply wrong stance as the Philadelphia Eagles faced the Green Bay Packers.
07:02It just continued throughout the entire game and got worse and worse.
07:05They say personal insults followed.
07:07As well as being banned from the Eagles stadium and getting heavily criticized on social media, Caldwell was fired by management consultancy firm BCT Partners, where the Eagles fans specialized in diversity in the workforce.
07:18We also believed that we needed to uphold the values that we believe in as a company and had to make a decision.
07:26While they apologized, Caldwell made the eye-rolling defense that they were provoked into the verbal attack.

07:44Number 1. Organizers' Outrage
07:48In 1967, Catherine Switzer wanted to run the Boston Marathon.
07:52I said, I'd like to run the Boston Marathon too.
07:56And without missing a beat, my beloved Arnie Briggs said, a woman can't run the Boston Marathon.
08:01And I said, what do you mean a woman can't run the Boston Marathon?
08:04He said, women are too weak and too fragile for 26.2 miles.
08:08However, while the rules didn't refer to gender, the amateur athletic union which governed the event declared women couldn't be involved.
08:13However, with some clever tactics, Switzer was technically registered and she competed.
08:17Yet during the event, the marathon's co-director, Jock Semple, was livid.
08:21With a history of charging at runners and being a stickler for the rules, he ran onto the course and went for Switzer to grab her race number.
08:27And I turned and he grabbed me.
08:31And he screamed at me, get the hell out of my race and give me those numbers.
08:35Semple managed to knock over her coach, Arnie Briggs, before Switzer's boyfriend, Tom Miller, pushed the angry organizer away.
08:41Despite the publicity, it took until 1972 for the Boston Marathon to officially allow women.
08:46Strangely, Semple and Switzer later became friends.
08:49I don't think a day passes when I really don't thank Jock Semple for attacking me in the race.
08:53He not only angered me and frightened me, but he inspired me.
08:57What's the most Karen-y behavior you've seen at a sporting event?
