00:00Mr. President, ASEAN holds in high regard your vital role in facilitating this agreement.
00:16On Gaza, we welcome your comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict that given the world
00:23has a glimmer of hope that even in the most intractable conflict, diplomacy and determination can prevail.
00:33And we trust that with your leadership, Mr. President, will achieve a just and durable peace.
00:41Thank you. And now, Mr. President, I invite you to deliver your opening remarks.
00:47Thank you very much. It's a great honor to be here. Many friends in this room and so many new friends.
00:55I want to thank Prime Minister Anwar for hosting us, a spectacular man,
01:01and for organizing this year's ASEAN Summit here in beautiful Kuala Lumpur.
01:10As you know, this has been an incredibly successful day for Malaysia.
01:15Great honor to be here. I promised I'd be here when the Prime Minister helped us so beautifully
01:23with our peace treaty among two very friendly countries, I think we can say right now.
01:30And here I am, really, something to see what you've done for the United States
01:37and for all nations across this magnificent region.
01:40They're all watching and they're seeing what's taking place.
01:43Thank you very much, Your Honor.
01:45Today, the Prime Minister and I signed a major trade deal between the United States and Malaysia.
01:52And together, we took part in the signing of a historic peace agreement ending the hostilities between Cambodia and Thailand.
01:59We're calling it the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords.
02:04Once again, I want to congratulate Prime Minister Moon Manet of Cambodia and Prime Minister Pan Newton of Thailand,
02:17who had to return home because of the Queen's passing.
02:22This magnificent woman known all over the world and respected by everybody.
02:29But this was a great achievement that she was very proud of.
02:35I also want to thank the other ASEAN countries for agreeing to send observers.
02:40And in most cases, your heads of state, because I don't see too many observers.
02:46I only see heads of state to help ensure a lasting settlement.
02:51Today's signing represents just one of eight conflicts that we've ended in eight months of the Trump presidency.
02:58I'm very honored to have done it.
02:59We saved millions of lives.
03:01It also includes the end of the war in Gaza.
03:05We signed a very strong agreement.
03:07We have 59 countries involved.
03:10We have numerous of them right here at this table.
03:15Like, as an example, Indonesia, my new friend.
03:19Thank you very much for helping.
03:21We appreciate it.
03:22I want to thank Malaysia and Brunei as well as my friend.
03:27President Rabowo of Indonesia for their incredible support of these efforts to secure the new day for the Middle East.
03:37It really is a new day.
03:38There's never been a period of time like this.
03:41The Middle East will have peace after 3,000 years.
03:46This is a very strong peace.
03:48It's going to be an everlasting peace.
03:50It's true.
03:52It really is a true pleasure to be back with all of you in Southeast Asia,
03:59home of some of America's most important allies and countries and partners.
04:04The entire world, they look up to you.
04:08I'm here on a mission of friendship and goodwill and to deepen our ties of commerce,
04:13to strengthen our common security,
04:15and to really promote strongly stability, prosperity, and peace for all of the countries in this room
04:23and long beyond this room.
04:25That's why I'm delighted that, in addition to the agreement with Malaysia this week,
04:29we're also signing or nearing completion on trade deals with many other Indo-Pacific partners
04:36from Cambodia to Japan to South Korea.
04:39We're delighted to forge richer partnerships on energy technology,
04:43artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and other industries.
04:49The United States is having its golden age.
04:54Last year, we were a country that was doing very poorly under a different semi-leadership.
04:59I don't even call it a leadership.
05:02But this year, we're doing numbers that nobody ever thought it was possible for any country to do.
05:07We'll be, at the end of my first year, over $20 trillion worth of investment into the United States.
05:14There's no country anywhere that's ever done anything close to that.
05:18The United States, last year, for the four years it was announced,
05:23did less than $1 trillion, and we're going to be doing over $20 trillion.
05:27That's quite a difference.
05:29I'd like to just say the United States is, for you,
05:34committed to a free and open and thriving Indo-Pacific.
05:37My message to the nations of Southeast Asia is that the United States is with you 100 percent,
05:44and we intend to be a strong partner and friend for many generations to come.
05:50One year ago, we were in a different position,
05:54but now we're in the best position we've ever been, and I really do.
05:59I'd like to say it's the golden age of America, golden age of the United States.
06:03Together, we'll create incredible prosperity for the nations on both sides of the Pacific Ocean
06:09and to seize new opportunities for all of our people.
06:14It's really been an amazing experience.
06:18I've been here for a day, but it's been an amazing experience to see some of the things that you've done.
06:22And the Prime Minister made sure I saw everything, every single thing.
06:28When I said, well, that's okay, maybe I'll take it easy for a little while,
06:31he said, no, no, I have other things to show you.
06:34We even rode in the car together, and he's something.
06:38But America's ties to this region date back to early days of our Republic
06:43when fearless Americans voyage across the Pacific
06:46to establish outposts of trade and diplomacy here in Asia.
06:50Those bonds forged so long ago continue to strengthen and grow to this day,
06:56including here in Kuala Lumpur.
06:58I'm looking forward to speaking with many of you today
07:01and also at APEC in South Korea later this week where we're heading.
07:07Once again, thank you very much, Mr. Prime Minister,
07:10and thank you to everyone in this room.
07:12You are spectacular leaders.
07:14You are incredible people.
07:16Your energy, your genius, everything you do.
07:20And I say it truly, everything you touch turns to gold.
07:24And you can be very proud of it.
07:26Other parts of the world are not like this.
07:30You're very special people, and it's a very, very special place.
07:34Thank you very much.
07:35It's a great honor to be with you.
