00:18Currently, KGHM Ajax is advancing the Ajax Copper-Gold project located in the historic Ajax Mining Camp on the southern extremity of the city of Kamloops.
00:42Access is via the Old Afton Mine Hall Road.
00:48The first phase of the 23-year project includes the following, the development of access roads and main power line, a water system from Kamloops Lake, all surface buildings including the concentrator and tailing plant sites, and the startup of the open pit mine and waste dumps.
01:09Moving to year 15, activity continues in the open pit mine and waste dumps.
01:17At the completion of the project, all infrastructure and footings are removed and the area planted.
01:26Ongoing reclamation begins with vegetation to match surrounding land.
01:31Waste dumps are sloped and planted.
01:34The tailings impoundment is reclaimed while Jacko Lake remains a productive, recreational fishing lake throughout the life of the mine.
01:44Mitigation of the project's visual impact is a major priority for KGHM Ajax.
