00:00Two huge cooling towers of the former nuclear power plant in Gundremingen in Germany's Bavaria
00:07were destroyed in a controlled demolition at noon on Saturday. The plant had served as an
00:15important landmark in the town for nearly six decades, bringing numerous new jobs and
00:19boosting the town's economy. However, the removal of the cooling towers comes as part
00:29of the country's nuclear phase-out. Both nuclear reactors had already been closed
00:34for several years. Following Saturday's demolition, the dismantling of the plant
00:40will further continue, with completion expected by 2040.
