00:00I
00:30So you would think that the Pentagon press corps of all press corps would be front and
00:56center across the board on wanting to give credit to the president for forging this kind
01:01of peace.
01:02Instead, what they want to talk about is a policy about them, which simply says maybe
01:08the policy should look like the White House or other military installations where you
01:13have to wear a badge that identifies that you're press or you can't just roam anywhere
01:17you want.
01:18It used to be, Mr. President, the press could go anywhere, pretty much anywhere in the Pentagon,
01:22the most classified area in the world, or also that if they sign on to the credentialing,
01:28they're not going to try to get soldiers to break the law by giving them classified information.
01:32So it's common sense stuff, Mr. President.
01:34We're trying to make sure national security is respected, and we're proud of the policy.
01:38You know, we have an option here as to, as you know, the press years ago moved into the
01:44White House.
01:45It used to be across the street.
01:46We could move them.
01:48You're lucky I'm president because we could move them very easily across the street.
01:51They used to be there.
01:54They would have more room.
01:55We have a beautiful, nice space.
01:56You can sit all by yourselves and have fun.
01:58Instead, you walk around the White House talking to anybody that can breathe.
02:02And you know, but I find that when it comes to war, and now our great Department of War,
02:09we have some great people over there.
02:11I think it's sort of, it bothers me to have soldiers and even, you know, high-ranking generals
02:17walking around with you guys on their sleeve, asking them, because they can make a mistake,
02:22and a mistake can be tragic.
02:24They can do it innocently, too.
02:25They can, you know, and they're not press people.
02:28They don't really deal with the press, so they're not really necessarily good at it,
02:32although I think it's mostly instinctual one way or the other.
02:34You're either good at things or you're not.
02:37But I could see you being bothered by that, and so you have them in an area, and you treat
02:42them fairly, but they're not allowed to go into somebody's office and sit with them for
02:4810 hours.
02:49Yes, sir.
02:50I can understand.
02:51I can understand.
