00:00For centuries, the mineral-rich Peruvian Andes have supplied the world with a variety
00:17of precious and base metals.
00:24And it's here, in the preeminent central Peruvian polymetallic belt, that Vancouver-based
00:29Trevali Resources Corporation, in partnership with Glencore International AG, is developing
00:36the exciting Santander Silver Lead Zinc Mine project.
00:42Santander is a 44-square-kilometer property readily accessible by road from Peru's capital,
00:48Lima.
00:49First explored in the early 1900s, periodic exploration activity continued until 1957,
00:56when favorable conditions led to the development of Santander Pipe, an open pit and underground
01:02operation.
01:03Due to hyperinflation and low metal prices, mining was suspended in 1992 in high-grade zinc mineralization
01:10at a depth of 480 meters.
01:28Realizing the untapped potential, Trevali acquired Santander in late 2007 and began an aggressive
01:36exploration program.
01:38Two highly productive fairways have been discovered to date.
01:42The exciting magistral structural trend with a strike length of 14 kilometers, and the 3-kilometer-long
01:49Santander-Puawangka trend.
01:58To date, 171 drill holes totaling more than 33,000 meters have intersected polymetallic mineralization
02:06to approximately 350 meters vertical depth.
02:10In the magistral structural trend, three new massive sulfide deposits have been discovered.
02:17Magistral north, central, and south.
02:36Nearby, in the Santander-Puawangka trend, containing the original Santander mine, another discovery,
02:43the Puawangka South massive sulfide deposit.
02:58Expansion remains open for expansion in all deposits delineated to date.
03:08Numerous high-priority targets remain untested, increasing the possibility for several additional
03:14discoveries.
03:15Also, the Santander tailings contain 100 million pounds of zinc, at an average grade of 2.74%.
03:31Current resources are anticipated to support more than 10 years of mine life.
03:36It is anticipated that initial operations on the magistral deposits will commence as open
03:41pits for approximately 18 to 24 months prior to a transition to an underground operation using
03:48the highly efficient sub-level stope mining method.
04:05Site infrastructure includes a modern 200-person camp, or processing and concentrator plant, various
04:12crushers, mills, and cell houses.
04:16Glencore International, one of the world's largest commodities and metals traders, is designing,
04:22building, and will operate a modern 2,000 ton a day concentrate plant.
04:30A discovery of 4 to 5 million additional tons of resource could justify an increase in production
04:36to 4,000 tons a day.
04:40A highly successful 2010 exploration program has already increased indicated resources by 53%
04:49and inferred tonnage by an amazing 452%.
04:57A major advantage to Trevally's production capability is its wholly owned Tingo hydroelectric generating
05:04facility, providing inexpensive and reliable power to the site.
05:09At 17 kilometers down valley to the west, the 1.6 MW plant is being upgraded to 10 MW capacity,
05:18with the potential sale of surplus into the Peruvian National Energy Grid.
05:25Easily accessible, with proven resources and a wholly owned hydroelectric generating station,
05:32Trevally is poised to move into production by late 2011.
05:38Trevally Resources Corporation, in partnership with Glencore International, is aggressively fast-tracking
05:45plants to become South America's newest silver lead-zinc producer.
