00:00Now the Angry Birds games have been downloaded now 4 billion times which is an unbelievable number of people that have played the games and are familiar with the games and I think at the center of the games were characters and that was one of the most important things that I think distinguished Angry Birds from a lot of other games and in our first movie we really focused on bringing those characters to life and
00:25taking the characters to the next level of reality and I think that at the heart of all great animation is characters that an audience connects to.
00:34Well it's a very unique kind of a hero's journey that Red has in our movie because he in the past was an outcast and wasn't really well liked and didn't have many friends but at the end of the first movie he became the hero and so at the start of Angry Birds 2 he is a hero and he is at the top of his game.
00:53He's happy for the first time in his life and all of a sudden he realizes that there's a truce forming between the birds and the pigs and he no longer has a purpose and he no longer has a reason to be a hero and he's worried about losing everything that he's now gained and that's a very very different kind of a story for a hero character.
01:14Yeah you know we have a couple of a couple of different kinds of love stories in the movie and I think that that was fun for us to play with.
01:21You know I think that it is it is so much fun to see a character who is incredibly socially awkward and not necessarily good at making friends suddenly getting thrust into a situation where now all right he's speed dating he's kind of getting thrown out of his comfort zone.
01:42And I love in movies when there is great friction between characters in a romantic way that sometimes leads to a lot of comedy along the way.
01:55I think they all have anger in little places.
01:59In many ways Red is the angry character and maybe that's expressed a bit more as grumpiness than anger most of the time.
