The recent incident involving a PETRONAS vessel that was surrounded and driven away by fishing boats near Ketapang, Madura Island, Indonesia, has been resolved amicably.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Oct 23) that while Malaysia takes the matter seriously, it did not warrant escalation to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, as both nations maintain strong diplomatic channels.
He clarified that the vessel was operating within Malaysian territorial waters and had not encroached on any foreign area.
