00:00Six people have been arrested after protesters clash with Irish police in Dublin during anti-immigration demonstrations.
00:08The protests were sparked after reports emerged that a 26-year-old asylum seeker sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl in a hotel in the Irish capital.
00:18Hundreds of people gathered on Tuesday night outside the City West Hotel in West Dublin, which houses refugees.
00:24Police were attacked with glass bottles, bricks, and fireworks as infuriated protesters demanded justice for the little girl.
00:33A police vehicle parked outside the hotel was also set on fire.
00:38Many of the protesters were holding Irish flags and chanting nationalist slogans, advocating for a hardline stance against immigration.
00:46The man, whose ethnicity and identity were not revealed by police, was charged in connection with the attack.
00:53Ireland's Prime Minister, Michael Martin, condemned the attack on police officers.
00:59He noted that while he understands the concern and anger of the people, there is no justification for attacking members of the force.
01:07Martin vowed to hold the perpetrator of the attack against the little girl to justice and hold all those who abuse police officers to account.
