00:00Tennessee has through proclamation in its legislature signed proclamation by the governor

00:08recognized the importance of taiwan in the world and the importance of the strategic partnership

00:17between taiwan and the state of tennessee and traveling just in the last couple days in taiwan

00:23it has become evident to me that the importance of taiwan in the globe economically and as a business leader

00:34is increasing rapidly the world recognizes and the u.s recognizes the importance of taiwan as a

00:42strategic partner to the united states but we also recognize that that is growing exponentially

00:49as taiwan's economy and business grows exponentially and because of that tennessee sees

00:57an incredible opportunity in expanding the partnerships that we have

01:02with companies from taiwan choosing to invest in the state of tennessee and because of our great

01:10desire to strengthen the partnership and the bonds between taiwan and tennessee we have in fact signed

01:17memorandum of understanding with the ministry of economic affairs and made the commitment to

01:23open a full-time office in taiwan so that we can better understand the needs of the companies here

01:29and how we can be a better partner to to those in taiwan when they come to tennessee and i mentioned

01:37the generous people of taiwan when i made opening remarks one of the most valuable

01:43assets that companies from taiwan bring to the people of tennessee is the culture of taiwan and

01:53how that enhances the culture of tennessee so not only do we look forward to increased economic

01:59partnerships but we look forward to the partnership of cultures as the people and the beautiful people

02:07of this country become become accustomed to the people of tennessee
