00:00Americans, let me also extend our warmest wishes to the people of India.
00:04I just spoke to your prime minister today. We had a great conversation.
00:08We talk about trade. We talk about a lot of things, but mostly the world of trade.
00:13He's very interested in that.
00:15Although we did talk a little while ago about let's have no wars with Pakistan.
00:20And I think the fact that trade was involved, I was able to talk about that.
00:25And we have no war with Pakistan and India.
00:27That was a very, very good thing.
00:29But he's a great person, and he's become a great friend of mine over the years.
00:34In a few moments, we'll light the dia as a symbol of faith and the victory of light over darkness.
00:42It's a beautiful term, light over darkness. That's what it's all about.
00:45It's knowledge over ignorance and good over evil.
00:50During Diwali, revelers recall ancient stories of enemies defeated, obstacles removed,
00:56and captives freed.
00:58The glow of the dia flame reminds us to seek the path of wisdom and to work with diligence
01:04and to always give thanks.
01:06And we're forging peace all over the world.
01:08We're putting America first.
01:10We're getting everybody to sort of get along.
01:13And I just got a call from the Middle East.
01:16We're doing very well there.
01:17We have many, many countries, as you know, signed on to peace in the Middle East,
01:21and nobody thought they'd ever see that happening.
01:24The Hamas situation where they're pretty violent people, I would say,
01:30that we could put that out in two minutes.
01:33We're giving them a chance.
01:34You know, they agreed that they'd be very good, very, very straight.
01:41They wouldn't be killing people, and they have killed people.
01:44That wasn't the deal we made, but if we, if they don't honor the deal,
01:48they'll be taken care of very quickly, but I'd rather not have to do that.
01:52But we have total peace in the Middle East.
01:54We have levels of friendship with everybody,
01:58and countries that hated each other now love each other.
02:02Nobody ever saw anything like it.
02:03And I think you guys are pretty surprised over here, right?
02:06Or me, you're surprised.
02:07But a lot of people are surprised.
02:09Are you guys surprised peace of the Middle East?
02:11You've been hearing about it for as long as you've been alive.
02:15And it's been a lot longer than that.
02:17You're still pretty young.
02:18Russia remains China's top crude oil supplier in September.
02:23Are you considering tariffs on China?
02:28Well, I mean, you read the same papers as I do,
02:32but I don't have to read the papers because I'm the one.
02:35Right now, as of November 1st, China will have about 155% tariff put on it.
02:43And I don't think it's sustainable for them, so I want to, I want to be nice to China.
02:48But China's been very rough with us over the years because we had presidents that weren't smart from a business standpoint.
02:54Some were good politicians, some weren't even good politicians, but they allowed China to take advantage of us,
03:00and every other country to take advantage of us.
03:03And you see, I made a deal with the European Union.
03:06I made a deal with Japan, with South Korea.
03:07I made a lot of these deals that are great deals.
03:10And I was able to do it.
03:12It's really national security.
03:13I was able to do it because of tariffs.
03:15And we're getting hundreds of billions, even trillions of dollars paid into the United States.
03:20We're a very rich country again.
03:22We'll start paying off that.
03:24We'll do a lot of things.
03:25We'll probably make a distribution out of some of the tariff money.
03:28I think we're going to make a distribution over the next fairly short period of time to the people
03:34because we took in so much money from the tariffs.
03:38Just the European Union, $650 billion.
03:42Japan, $550 billion.
03:45South Korea, $350 billion.
03:47That's even a lot of money for you guys, right?
03:49That's not bad, right?
03:52But no, we're taking in a lot of money.
03:54And it keeps people like this here because that's why they're coming in.
03:59I mean, you wouldn't be – I mean, I'm not going to speak for you,
04:02but generally they won't be coming in if we're off the tariffs.
04:04They come in here and they don't have to pay the tariff.
04:08If they do it outside, they pay a lot of money, a lot of tariffs.
04:12The money comes to us.
04:14And in order not to pay the tariff, they come and they build here.
04:16That's why we have more plants under construction than we've ever had in the history of our country.
04:21And you wouldn't think it's complicated, but you would have thought somebody would have done this a long time ago
04:26sitting in this beautiful seat behind what's called the Resolute Desk.
04:30You know that, right?
04:31These are very famous.
04:32This is even more famous than any of your desks.
04:35But your desks are new.
