00:36first half really I thought we created some good chances had to be patient for

00:41that first goal when it came I thought it was a school thought we scored three

00:45great goals today actually but we looked a constant threat in the game but we had

00:49some moments where we had to defend well and they were a threat from their set

00:52plays as well so delighted with the win it's a massive massive result I don't

00:57think I've ever seen an assist quite like that from Nick Pope that is a truly

01:01remarkable throw isn't it yeah it is I mean it's it's a thing of beauty we needed

01:08that second goal and we've been working on not necessarily that throw with Nate but

01:13certain parts of his distribution to make us more efficient distribution of

01:17goalkeepers these days is so important but that was a sort of spontaneous

01:20moment and Harvey finished it brilliantly so delighted for both players a lot of

01:24good performances but Anthony Gordon a timely reminder of the the sort of player

01:29the sort of weapon he can be when he's playing like that yeah I thought both

01:32our wingers that started the game did really really well great to see the

01:35combined for the first goal that's a really pleasing sight but yeah Anthony played

01:39very direct I thought athletically he was excellent because he put a real big effort in

01:45both on and off the ball so yeah good night for him

01:48okay when we go to Lee Ryder then to Keith Downey please Lee

01:51Eddie does that one set some standards moving forward now for you yeah I think

01:56it is that kind of game that we have to take forward into our next few games that

02:03we've got coming up I thought that's the level that we want to be at we've been

02:06threatening I think sort of putting a performance like that together even

02:11Brighton there was some really really positive moments but that gets lost in

02:14the result but today we we got both we got another clean sheet we scored some

02:18goals confidence return to our attacking players so as I said earlier it's a good

02:22night for us just on Harvey quickly em is he the great example for you as a

02:27player who hasn't been playing as much as he wants comes on and scores a couple

02:31tonight great moment for him yeah that's what he needs to do that's what every

02:34player needs to do when they're on the pitch they need to deliver and Harvey's

02:38always been a goal scorer for us I'm pleased to see him score off the right

02:41today because he's actually played some good minutes for us on that side of the

02:44pitch and I think he's played really well hasn't quite got the goals that he has

02:48on the left but today it was two really good finishes he should you know a reminder

02:52of his qualities thank you

02:54Eddie we were talking yesterday or you were asked should I say about the the lack

03:01of goals from the wingers I guess in the Premier League but when you actually

03:03look at that you look at the stats and in the Champions League that's Anthony got

03:07four and three and Harvey now three and three it's strange isn't it they're

03:12scoring so many in the Champions League but it's not quite click for them yet in

03:14the Premier League yeah that's a head-scratcher for me as well because we

03:19know their qualities we know their goal scorers they know we know how good good

03:22a players they are and that goes through for another few other few players in our

03:27squad as well you know everyone's point to the fact that we haven't been

03:29scoring enough in the Premier League but when you see us play like we did

03:33tonight and how we attacked and the amount of chances we created it's a

03:37difficult one for us to work out but all we can do is return to the Premier League

03:41and return with the same attitude I think if the attitudes there the the

03:44quality will show and do you think the way that Nick plays drop in and deep like

03:48that I mean another incredible flick from him there for the third goal is that in

03:53time going to create even more chances for the wingers to get their tally even

03:56higher hope so I think we keep saying the same thing about Nick he's a unique

04:02player and and those type of flicks and touches yeah that's not coach that's

04:07instinctive we saw that before we signed him we knew that he was very good

04:11around the box he was very creative for other players that's great to see a

04:14score off the back of one of them and yeah I thought that was a great goal

04:17Eddie there was a little bit disappointment when Sandra wasn't able

04:22to play but how mature a performance was that from Lewis Miley filling in yeah

04:26top top performance from Louis I think so much that goes into him giving that

04:32performance it's the ability to absorb all the you know the hype and the

04:37pressure of the game and just deliver what he needed to and he's got that unique

04:41ability and he had it from the very first time he played just to be his normal

04:44self and not be fazed by anything and thought it was an outstanding performance

04:48in a game where he was working in minimal space it was quite tight in the middle

04:51of the pitch very intelligent I thought we worked well with Bruno in particular

04:56because those two were combining quite quite well together and a great

05:00performance from Louis and two seasons ago you gave yourself yourselves a

05:04platform after two games and ultimately weren't able to build up on that

05:07suppose you're in a similar situation now what will you what will you take from that

05:11experience two years ago as you do try to build them at this time well I think the

05:16Premier League now takes importance the the Champions League we've sort of getting

05:20in the habit of dipping in and out as you do because it's gone this moment is a

05:24great moment I want the players to sort of enjoy it and take the good from it but

05:29the focus now has to be very firmly on Fulham it's a big game for us in our

05:32Premier League return and then of course then we began to the Carabao Cup so it's

05:38really you're sort of dipping in you're dipping out we'll come back to the

05:41competition we're enjoying it well we're more than enjoying we're loving it but

05:46it's positive results we need to try and get us through

05:52Hi Eddie, Nick's throw was obviously astonishing but he's also part of a defence that's kept

05:59seven clean sheets and 12 fixtures in all competitions I think that's the best record

06:03under your management here at the start of the season can you just talk a little bit about

06:07how important that solidity has been for the team when it hasn't always clicked

06:12like it has tonight at the other end of the pitch well it's been massive that we

06:16have been good defensively because if you're not free scoring games can get

06:19away from you very quickly if you're not so I think we have worked hard on that I

06:24think the players have worked really hard I think they've also had some really

06:28good defensive displays from our from our back four and of course Nick who's hugely

06:32important to that but I think the mentality has been really good to the off the ball work

06:36I thought it was today I think that was probably the hallmark of the performance I thought our

06:39pressing our energy was back to its very best levels and then off the back of that we play

06:43better football and we score goals from our pressing the first goal came from winning the

06:47ball back high so a lot goes into it a lot of effort from the players but they get the

06:51the rewards at the end do you feel like you're kind of halfway to being a really good team or

06:57maybe a bit more or you know but like you know you on a night like this you can sort of see

07:01exactly what the idea is what the team might look like or can look like moving forward yeah I think

07:07you because certainly see I can see the idea and the delivery of the idea I thought was was really

07:13strong today I think it was clear I thought the players delivered it very well I sort of get where

07:17you're going with it because I still feel there's so much more to come and we're seeing sort of the

07:22the early shoots of a new team and it's exciting what we can be but a lot of hard work ahead

07:28Eddie just yeah I'm loud enough just a lot more on on Louis I mean he's obviously he had the

07:41breakthrough season then we know the injuries he's had and everything what would a good season look

07:46like for for Louis Miley this season what what do you kind of hope as an individual he can he can

07:52do this season well I think injury free I probably say that for every player but Louis has had certain

07:57injuries as you say from last season and I think he needs game time he needs to play to develop

08:06I think that's clear for any young player but the big thing for me is has to deserve that I'm not

08:11just going to give it to him he's got to actually deserve it and I think nights like tonight will help

08:15him immensely to to get more game time to show that he's on a level playing field with the other

08:22players you know we're dealing with Sandro Joe Bruno to to not one of them at the team is very

08:29very difficult but you saw JJ come in Jacob Ramsey come into the team did very well today Louis shows

08:36the strength we have in midfield Joe Willett did well in a very brief cameo but good players in those

08:40positions and they're all going to push each other hopefully for for better performances and it kind of

08:44goes without saying doesn't it that how much he can learn and develop just just by working with

08:50Sandro watching Sandro and all of that I mean that that potentially will be massive for him won't it

08:55yeah I think he's got some great role models there to look at I mean you've got different parts of each

09:01of the midfielders that we've just discussed and you'd go I'd love to take a bit of that and

09:04take a bit of that and then put it into one player and Louis is capable of doing a little bit of

09:09everything I just think his composure his presence on the pitch I think you can feel for someone so

09:15young that's very rare so yeah very very pleased I think he's got certain things to develop and add

09:21but yeah I think he's in a good place thank you Kieran thank you

09:27yeah definitely need a microphone uh given Benfica's pedigree the experience there of the competition

09:35the Mourinho factor how much belief can the team take from a result like this yeah it wasn't an easy

09:40game I mean that's for sure I mean Benfica as you say huge European experience they've got a manager

09:45that's been there and done everything in the game so we knew today was a difficult game and

09:50especially off the back of Saturday's result for us that ramped the pressure on really and we had to

09:56handle that and that's why the win and the way that we won really pleasing and hopefully we can take

10:02that into our next few games because we're going to need to back it up what one game in isolation in

10:07the Champions League means nothing uh now it's all about the next few games can I just ask you know

10:12obviously it's it's a different attack this season how how kind of strange and challenging

10:16has that been because obviously you've been used to having a certain player up front for a while

10:20you're adapting a kind of a different sort of lineup now as I think I've said many times I think

10:25it is a it's a small change but it's a big change at the same time so it's one player and you think

10:31well that's one player you should be able to just flip another one in but the profile of the players are

10:35so different that that does actually then have quite a big knock-on effect for how we play that's not an

10:41excuse that's just the reality and Nick is an outstanding footballer and some of the things

10:45he did tonight are incredible but we had just have to make slightly different runs we have to have

10:50slightly different movements and patterns off the back of that and I think we're getting there in

10:54terms of understanding it but as I'd always say there's a lot more to come from individuals
