00:00Football federations of the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica and Jamaica on Monday announced their joint bid to host the 2031 Women's World Cup.
00:10The U.S. had already been announced by FIFA as the sole bidder for the expanded 48-team tournament.
00:17People everywhere are waking up to what soccer can be, not just here in the U.S., but across CONCACAF and around the world.
00:26Now, as the only bidders for the FIFA 2031 Women's World Cup, I admit I like our chances.
00:34When we are officially selected, we'll work with FIFA to deliver the biggest, most impactful women's sporting event in history.
00:42Their joint bid will be submitted to FIFA next month, with a global football governing body set to give its formal approval at its Congress in April next year.
00:51The tournament will adopt a 12-group format, increasing the number of games from 64 to 104.
00:58And I'm so, I mean, I'm like Kelly, I was surprised to hear that Jamaica and Costa Rica got in.
01:04But my gosh, I'm so excited because I get to go to these places and be in community with the kids there and hopefully get to inspire, not me, but the players on the team will get to inspire the next generation.
01:18In a joint statement, the four federations promised a lasting legacy for women's football across North America, Central America and the Caribbean, and to set a new global standard for the sport.
01:30We are very happy and proud that the region of CONCACAF is calling up four countries to host the most important World Cup in the history of women's football, with almost 50 nations.
01:46For this, we're going to work so that we can deliver the best World Cup.
01:49He said it was an opportunity to consolidate the growth of the sport across the region and to inspire a new generation of players and fans.
