00:10The PRC seems quite motivated for expansionism

00:14It claims sovereignty over Taiwan, the East and South China seas

00:20and wants to act to take control

00:22Even though Taiwan is the one catching the international spotlight

00:27The PLA activities in the East and South China seas are just as rampant

00:33Whenever they are having a large-scale military drill around Taiwan

00:37There is also an increase of deployments in the East and South China seas

00:42And trust me, the first island chain as a single theater

00:47Is no longer a strategic vision

00:50It is already turned into a reality by the PLA

00:55And dear friends, Taiwan is not the only one or the last target of the PRC

01:02And to be fair, I should also say that the PRC military activities

01:06Have expanded beyond the first island chain

01:09In February this year, it sent a fleet to circle around Australia

01:14And conducted a live fire drill in the Tasman Sea without prior notification

01:19And in June this year, it held a dual carrier drill in between the first and the second island chains

01:28Together with PRC's collaboration with Russia, the DPRK and Iran

01:34It is now termed by the US government as the pacing threat

01:38China also employs a coordinated blend of lawfare

01:42Beginning from last year, it claims the large-scale exercises were based on the One China principle

01:50So One China is no longer a concept for debate

01:55It is now invoked as a legal basis for war against Taiwan

01:59Lawfare is very much a part of the PRC's warfare

02:03The same can be said about UN General Assembly Resolution 2758

02:09The PRC misinterpreted to portray that Taiwan is part of it

02:13And that One China principle is now part of international law

02:17The misinterpretation gradually goes that Taiwan is China's domestic affairs

02:23And is on the international legal basis for China's use of force

02:28And no one else can intervene

02:30My dear friends, the PRC has also engaged in hybrid warfare on Taiwan

02:36And we are a test ground for China's warfare

02:40Including cyber attacks, disinformation campaigns, cognitive warfare, and infiltration

02:47Femi is also a serious issue

02:49Whenever we conduct elections, on whatever level

02:54The PRC always wants to play a role

02:57It wants to ruin our democracy from within

02:59It uses disinformation and cognitive warfare to plant seeds of distrust

03:04Between the government and people

03:06Between political parties

03:08And between Taiwan and the United States

03:12One very recent example of China's hybrid warfare

03:16Is to use open source intelligence

03:18Or OSINT

03:20And apply with AI tool

03:22To fabricate stories about groups of our people or firms

03:26Engaging in cyber or info attacks on China

03:31The CCP is holding the fourth plenum of the Central Committee of the 20th Party Congress

03:37Even though we see worrisome trends in the Chinese economy

03:41The news these days is not how the PRC leadership is coming up with good or big packages

03:47To bring their economy up from the slump

03:50It's about the purge of top PLA leaders

03:54Also the footages of the September 3rd military parade

03:58Gave an impression of China still seeking global dominance

04:02Not solving domestic economic and social problems

04:07This doesn't make too much sense to me

04:09But I will be interested in hearing from my MEC colleagues afterward

04:14And how the participants draw their conclusions on China's dynamics

04:19And prospects
