00:00The witnesses are now entering the witness room.
00:25I had not thought anything about the death penalty
00:28other than, like most people, in some sort of abstract fashion.
00:37I did 10 or 11 executions.
00:42I believe in the Bible and I believe in forgiveness.
00:46I'm just not sure whether I'm the one that's going to forgive myself or not.
00:51I was murdering people for society's revenge.
00:58This is a problem that affects so many, many people.
01:04They won't let you quit.
01:07Taking that plunger and pushing it in sort of set me on a particular course that I wasn't really prepared for.
01:15Because we had no one to talk to but ourselves.
01:18So it was just the two of us as executioners that talked about it amongst each other and, you know, it brought us a lot closer.
01:25Unless you're involved in it than have experienced it, nobody can quite understand what you're going through.
01:32I expected to be trained. I expected to be counseled. None of that took place.
01:41We're going to teach people not to kill other people by killing people.
01:46It's basically turned me into a killer who has homicidal and suicidal thoughts.
01:54I do believe that if you've taken some lives, you are a serial killer.
01:58But I also look at a serial killer every day when I look in the mirror.
02:02And there are times when it becomes unbearable.
02:16I've seen instances when it comes at a serial killer.
02:39So I say you are a serial killer.
