00:00Hello everyone, it's Jack from Cultaholic back once again and wake yourselves up because it's
00:06time to talk about everything that's just happened in our AEW Wrestle Dream 2024. Let's go.
00:13The first match of the pre-show sees Atlantis Jr. defend the Ring of Honor TV title against who
00:18better, Brian Cage. They shake hands at the start of the match observing the code of honor and then
00:24Brian Cage takes control hitting a big spine buster and posing for the crowd. Cage stays in
00:28control for a while even taking time to lounge across the top rope like a big meaty Eddie Guerrero
00:33but Atlantis Jr. starts to fight back and hits a crossbody off the top followed by a couple of
00:37nice dives to the outside. Cage catches Atlantis on the apron though with a big deadlift suplex
00:42all the way back in but it only gets two. This kicks off a sequence where they trade big moves
00:47and near falls until Atlantis hits I think like a blue thunderbomb. Very impressive given the size
00:51difference between him and his opponent. Cage's discus lariat is countered by a super kick and
00:56then Atlantis comes off the top with a big frog splash but again it only gets two. Cage regains
01:01control of the match with a powerbomb from the second rope and goes for the drill claw but
01:05Atlantis counters it into a roll-up near fall. The discus lariat now does connect from Cage and he does
01:10hit the drill claw. One, two, three and we get a title change to start the show. Brian Cage is the new
01:16Ring of Honor TV champion. The crowd kind of seemed to be taken by surprise with a little bit of a surprise
01:21pop at the count of three. Oh and it's a it's a nice moment for big Brian. Before the start of the
01:28next match we get a backstage interview with Mace and Mansour who reveal that the mystery man they've
01:34been teasing to be in their corner tonight is Rico and oh my god he's there he's actually there it's
01:40Rico. Huge pop from well from me at least and people of a similar age to me I suspect. The next match is
01:46Harley Cameron versus Anna Jay with Anna taking control early on hitting a cheeky hip check as
01:52Excalibur calls it on commentary but what she does is she she hits Harley with her bottom and Harley
01:57is annoyed. Harley misses a kick on the apron and Anna locks in the Queen Slayer over the ropes but
02:02Harley drops down to break the hold only to get drop kicked to the floor where she lands quite hard.
02:06Anna takes control on the outside and stretches Harley's body around the ring post but then ends
02:10up getting yanked into the ring post herself. Back in the ring Cameron gets a couple of near falls with
02:15like a Russian leg sweep and a swinging neck breaker but none of it can put Anna away. At one
02:20point they exchange quick roll-up attempts before Harley hits eat defeat doesn't quite get all of it
02:24though and Anna kicks out. Later on they end up in the corner and Anna hits like a cheeky Nando sort of
02:30kick but to the leg and then I think debuts a new finisher which looks good and gets a nice pop from
02:36the crowd but unfortunately the finish is a little bit messy. That's because as Harley's lying there
02:41selling this finish she um forgets to put one of her shoulders down on the mat and the
02:45referee just does it for her like you see the ref push her shoulder onto the mat and count the win
02:50for Anna Jay. Corruption in the AEW officials. The third match of the pre-show is the Acclaim
02:58taking on MXM Collection with of course Rico and Billy Gunn at ringside. Said ringside a bit
03:03aggressively there. At ringside Mansoor and Bowens start this one off and Mansoor is more concerned
03:07with posing than wrestling which allows Bowens to take control. Bowens hits the scissor taunt and
03:12Mansoor takes a bump because of that because he is really funny and the faces are in control.
03:16Mace comes in though and uses his power but also wastes time posing and it allows the Acclaim to
03:21hit some nice double team offense. Rico gets involved on the outside but Billy sends him
03:25scurrying away around the ring but this distraction does allow the heels to take control and they hit
03:30the double pose. How can the baby faces recover from this? A little bit later on Rico lays in a cheap
03:35shot from the outside behind the referee's back and this leaves Max Caster in trouble but he manages to
03:40fight back and get the hot tag to Bowens who runs wild. MXM Collection though hit a nice double
03:45team move around this point like a big head kick into a powerbomb sort of combination. Bowens survives
03:50though and tags in Caster but Mace intercepts the mic drop and the heels land another big double team
03:55move but it only gets two. MXM feel like they've got the match won now and mock the scissor pose making
04:01an X instead with their fingers and then they try to steal scissor me timbers but the Acclaim turn the
04:05tables and launch one heel into the other before hitting scissor me timbers instead. Bowens hits a
04:10double cross body to the outside but Rico tries to drag Mansoor into the ring for the count out victory
04:16but Billy Gunn gets in and cuts off Rico hitting the Femassa and allowing the Acclaimed, paving the
04:21way for the Acclaimed to get the win of a Max Caster mic drop. The Acclaimed.
04:25Next up Tony Khan brings out Antonio Inoki's grandchildren. He and Shivani lead the crowd
04:36in doing Inoki's famous chant and it kind of gets a bit awkward when the production team think that
04:40the test run of the chant is the actual chant and then try to end the segment early by playing music
04:45but the two Tonys power through and I'm not going to ridicule the awkwardness too much because you
04:50know it's a nice gesture really. Next up a bonus match that wasn't announced until the pre-show had
04:55already started. Thanks AEW that didn't cause any panic here in the office or anything. It's eight
05:00man tag team action as the premier athletes team with the dark order to take on Orange Cassidy,
05:05Kyle O'Reilly and the Outrunners. Yes huge reaction for the Outrunners. I wish they were on the main
05:11show. Tony Nese delays the opening exchange of the match to have a pose down with Truth Magnum who
05:16takes the bait and gets cheap shotted by Nese. O'Reilly and Cassidy take down Alex Reynolds and John
05:22Silver with some nice double team synergy and then all the babyfaces take turns doing 10 punches in
05:27the corner except for Orange Cassidy who only does one punch of course he does. Evil Uno gets involved
05:33from the outside and Orange Cassidy has to fight him off but he can't fight off Josh Woods who drops
05:38him with a right hand and then the heels all stomp him down with the referee distracted. Orange is face in
05:43peril for a while but after getting fired up by the sheer passion of the Outrunners on the apron he
05:48finally tags in Turbo Floyd who hits body slams on everyone. The Outrunners then body slam each
05:54other onto the heels and hit their big high five double elbow drop. Josh Woods stops their momentum
05:59from the outside but Rocky Romero attacks him on behalf of the babyface team but then he's taken
06:03out by Evil Uno. A lot of people at ringside for this match. Back inside the ring Daivari hammers away
06:09on Turbo Floyd but Turbo starts firing up like Hulk Hogan. He hits a big clothesline and then Orange
06:14Cassidy comes in with the Orange punch. One, two but Mark Sterling puts Daivari's boot on the ropes.
06:20The Outrunners though send Sterling running into the ring where Orange Cassidy and Kyle O'Reilly
06:24hit him with a high low. Cassidy then hits a trust fall off the top to the outside onto a crowd of
06:29heels allowing the Outrunners to isolate Daivari, finish him off and win the match.
06:34And just before the beginning of the main show we get an interview backstage with the Continental
06:39Champion Kazuchika Okada who reveals that he is cleared to wrestle. Kyle O'Reilly interrupts
06:44and says well then if you're cleared to wrestle how about we have a match and Okada says hmm let
06:49me think about it. Hell no bitch. The two brawl and security split them up with Christopher Daniels
06:55coming along and saying hey we can't have this on such a big night both of you get out of here
06:59and they are taken away from the arena. Now finally on to the start of the main show with the opening
07:07match Hangman Adam Page versus Jay White. Hangman is obviously not popular with such a pro
07:13swerve strickland crowd but of course he doesn't care and he flips them off. Jay White may be the
07:17babyface of the match but in the early stages it's clear that he is still a very irritating
07:21opponent for anybody slapping Hangman multiple times in the face. Unfortunately for Jay this only
07:27provokes Hangman into savagely beating him down in the corner and taking control of the match.
07:32Hangman goes for the buckshot lariat but Jay staggers out of range and flips him off baiting
07:36Page in for a snap suplex into the corner. White gets a couple of near falls off a big DDT and a bridging
07:41German suplex then they head up top where Hangman digs his thumbs into the eyes of Jay but the
07:47switchblade answers with a huge chop sending Hangman toppling backwards with one leg caught in
07:52the ropes in kind of a extreme tree of woe situation dangling on the outside. Now Jay gouges the eyes
07:58himself and the crowd love him returning Hangman's heelish antics but then he walks into a massive
08:03Death Valley driver on the ring apron. Back inside the ring Jay again staggers out of buckshot range
08:08before hitting a dragon screw in the ropes. On the outside though Hangman again takes control
08:12with brutal offense. A powerbomb into the apron followed by one on top of the ring steps. Hangman
08:17beats Jay up the ramp and takes off his belt to use as a whip. The ref threatens to disqualify him
08:22if he does this but Jay spits at Hangman and you know tells him to do it before ducking the blow
08:26and scooping Page up to drop his knee on the side of the ramp. Jay heads back to the ring for the
08:31count out victory but changes his mind and goes back to drop Hangman with a clothesline and roll him
08:36back into the ring. He continues to work over the leg of his opponent and hits the big yuranagi
08:41and looks for the blade runner but Page gets out of it and tries to low blow Jay out of the referee's
08:46view. But White's ready and catches the leg. He goes for the blade runner again but it's counted
08:50into Deadeye but Hangman further hurts his leg in the process. Page goes to the apron and slowly sets
08:57up for the buckshot lariat. He does so but the leg causes him to stagger and not be able to complete
09:02the motion of the move straight into a blade runner. 1-2-3 and Jay White gets the win to a huge pop by
09:08the way. Next up the AEW Women's World Championship match with Mariah May defending against Willow
09:17Nightingale. Willow starts off hot with a few slams but Mariah hits one of her shotgun dropkicks
09:22and takes control of the early stages. Willow though counters another dropkick attempt and fights back
09:27momentarily only for May to retake control and lay in a few chops followed by another shotgun dropkick
09:33but of course it only gets two. These are the early stages Mariah. She bends down to mock Willow who
09:37bites her and fires up hitting a big kick to the face and a spine buster but it only gets two as
09:43well. Willow goes for her finisher but Mariah kicks herself away and gets two off a German suplex.
09:48Very like back and forth intense competition in the early half of the match or the first half of the
09:53match I should say. Willow then locks in like a figure four Indian death lock sort of combination
09:58type of submission hold. Mariah tries to slap her way free so Willow bounces Mariah's head into her
10:04own knee before hitting a big cannonball in the corner. Nightingale heads up top but misses the big
10:09moonsault so Mariah heads up and hits a nice dropkick before hitting May Day but Willow kicks out of the
10:15finisher and Mariah is visibly shocked. Willow goes for the big pounce but Mariah counters with a headbutt
10:20only for Willow to drop her with a big lariat anyway and both women are down from the exertion.
10:25Willow though is up first and goes for her powerbomb finisher again but Mariah fights out and gets two
10:31from a victory roll. Willow rolls back for a near fall of her own followed by a huge death valley
10:35driver in the corner but again the champion just kicks out in time. Mariah retakes control and goes
10:41for her stratus faction move in the corner but Willow catches her and goes for an avalanche powerbomb
10:46only for Mariah to counter with a big hurricanrana down into the ring. The champion pounces on this
10:51opening with a running knee strike and nails Storm Zero for the win. She is still the AW Women's World
10:58Champion. Great finishing sequence there in particular. TNT title action up next with Jack
11:06Perry defending against Katsuyori Shibata. Grappling to start and Perry bails to the outside for a breather.
11:12They continue to actually wrestle in the ring. Ew real wrestling. Ew and then Perry has to grab a
11:17rope break and heads back to the outside where he gets a water bottle and splishy splash. He splashes
11:22Shibata with it who isn't amused and chases him around the ring. But Perry falls on Shibata as they
11:27head back inside and this allows him to take control of the match. He hits some kicks to the spine which
11:31Shibata no-sells and asks for more. Perry instead suckers him in for a big elbow strike and beats Shibata
11:36down in the corner to heat from the crowd. Perry tries some chops which don't have much of an effect so he
11:41gouges the eyes instead. They then have a strike exchange which is a very bad idea for Jack who
11:46gets lit up with chops. We get a double down spot but Shibata sits up all calm. Perry isn't happy
11:51about this and spits at him but Shibata is unmoved and then no-sells a few kicks to the chest. A big
11:56running kick from Perry sends Shibata rolling backwards where he gets up to his feet and goes
12:00for his running drop kick in the corner but misses as Perry moves out of the way. They fight to the
12:05outside where Shibata suplexes Perry into the apron which looks like a really nasty impact possibly on the
12:10back of his knees. Back inside the ring Shibata presses the advantage but Perry catches him in
12:15the snare trap. Shibata makes the ropes but Perry immediately drags him under the bottom rope for a
12:20draping DT on the floor. DDT on the floor and missed out a D there. Back in the ring Shibata hits
12:25the Death Valley driver and a big shoulder breaker followed by a sleeper hold. Perry tries to roll out
12:30of it but Shibata keeps it applied and then drops back onto his back on the canvas and the referee
12:35counts the shoulders down to the mat and awards Perry the win. Yes the referee is Rick Knox the
12:42elite's stooge. That's not an official storyline but would anyone be surprised if it got turned into
12:47one? I enjoyed the match as well up to that point not really sure about the finish. I don't think
12:50it's a good idea. Makes Shibata look like a bit of an idiot. I get the point that you want Jack
12:54Perry to be an undeserving champion though. Anyway there's a long way to go here. The segment is not
12:59finished yet. Once Perry has regained consciousness he attacks Shibata from behind as he argues with the
13:04referee. He hits him with the TNT title belt but here comes Daniel Garcia to make the save. They
13:08have a stare down but the champion backs away and celebrates on the outside. Now it looks like the
13:13segment might be over but here comes the return of MJF. He has a stare down in the ring with Garcia
13:18which allows Perry to sneak back in and drop Daniel with a belt shot from behind. MJF beats Garcia down
13:24some more and gets on the mic. He says that beating Garcia without breaking a sweat was the last time he
13:29saw Danny then he left to make several movies and several millions. MJF says the bidding war over
13:34Daniel Garcia's contract was about as real as the Seattle Supersonics which the crowd don't like.
13:39Any non-basketball fans out there they were Seattle's NBA team and then they moved to Oklahoma City
13:44and Sonics fans are famously not happy about that and you can understand. MJF says oh by the way I
13:50found the dynamite diamond ring. I don't know how he did but yes there it is he gets it out possibly a
13:54replacement and he prepares to nail Garcia with it but you know it's all about the boom. Here's the
13:59returning Adam Cole and MJF wants no part of him running away into the crowd. Cole helps Garcia to
14:06his feet and the crowd are delighted to see him back. As Adam Cole makes his departure he says into
14:11the camera that MJF is a dead man. Next up oh my god a lot to recap in this one. It's Will Ospreay
14:20defending the international title against both Ricochet and Konosuke Takeshita. Ospreay and
14:26Ricochet start off the match double teaming Takeshita but then Ospreay fakes a dive to the outside onto
14:31Takeshita instead springing backwards into an attempted oscutter on Ricochet but Ricochet's too
14:36wise for that and catches him in midair. The pair have their classic flipping exchange ending with the
14:40double backflips and the poses. Takeshita doesn't care for this and gets back in the ring and takes
14:44them both out. Takeshita takes control and gets a table out from under the ring. No DQs in a triple
14:49threat of course and he looks to put Ricochet through it off the apron. Ricochet though rolls
14:53back into the ring and tries to send Takeshita off the apron but he hangs on to the top rope.
14:57Back inside Takeshita charges, misses a knee strike in the corner and tumbles all the way over the top
15:02to the outside. Ricochet goes after him with a Sasuke special which Takeshita catches in midair
15:07but then Ospreay hits a Sasuke special of his own and knocks them both down. Back inside the ring
15:12Ricochet takes control of the match until Takeshita catches him with one of his huge elbow strikes.
15:17Now Will comes back in and takes out both opponents with a springboard double backflipping
15:21Pele kick two-footed kind of thing. All three men end up on the apron where Ricochet blocks an
15:26oscutter but he ends up on his knees so Ospreay uses him as a platform and jumps off his back
15:30but Takeshita catches this and nails Ospreay with a Death Valley driver on the apron only to then be
15:35nailed himself by a Meteora from Ricochet. Ricochet sets up Takeshita on the table and looks to dive
15:41on to him but Ospreay follows him into the ring and intercepts his charge with a Spanish fly but it
15:46only gets two. I'm getting blown up. Ospreay looks for the Stormbreaker but Ricochet counters
15:50into a lovely Hurricane Rana but again it only gets two so Ospreay goes for the Hidden Blade
15:55which is also reversed into like a standing backslide from Ricochet almost like a mini powerbomb
16:01or Razor's Edge maybe. It looks really good but it only gets two. Ricochet heads up top and misses a
16:06450 but lands on his feet and rolls through but Ospreay catches him with a styles clash one two
16:11and Takeshita's back in to break up the pinfall. Takeshita hits Ospreay with his suplex combination
16:15but Ospreay fires up to his feet only to get dropped with a big lariat. Ricochet tries to attack
16:21Takeshita but Takeshita catches him with a huge blue thunderbomb but again it's only a near fall.
16:26Now Ospreay and Ricochet decide to strike up an alliance they do a little high five and then pepper
16:30Takeshita with strikes but to their horror Takeshita fires up back to his feet and easily drops them both
16:36with some big shots. After a fast exchange between Ospreay and Takeshita the champion connects with
16:40the Aus cutter but then Ricochet immediately springs back into the picture with a 450 on the champion
16:45for a very near fall. Ricochet ends up on Takeshita's shoulders where Ospreay goes for a doomsday device
16:51from the top and Ricochet lands on his feet out of it. This leads to a sequence of German suplexes
16:56which ends with Takeshita hitting a huge one on both men at the same time and now the crowd are on
17:00their feet and I'm really struggling. Takeshita hits a huge tope onto both opponents on the outside
17:06and I'm continually amazed by how versatile he is. It is truly ridiculous. He takes Ricochet up top but
17:11gets knocked back down by Ospreay who then gets on the top rope alongside Ricochet and Hurricane Rana's
17:16Ricochet into Takeshita in the ring which leads to a near fall that Ospreay then has to rush and hastily
17:22break up. Now I'm not sure if that spot went quite as intended. It was obviously impressive on its own
17:27anyway but I think maybe they wanted to include an extra element. Maybe a Hurricane Rana from Ricochet
17:31to Takeshita in midair or something like that. It was still very good. Ricochet hits the shooting star
17:36press on Ospreay but stands up into a huge knee from Takeshita who falls onto both opponents. One, two
17:41but one or both of them kick out. Ricochet battles with Takeshita on the apron but Takeshita takes control
17:47and destroys Ricochet with that jumping tombstone through the table on the outside. Oh my god.
17:53Takeshita gets up. He's delighted. He's high-fiving Don Callis at the announce table but gets back in
17:58the ring. Immediate hidden blade from Will Ospreay. One, he kicks out at one. So Ospreay just hits him
18:03with another hidden blade and Takeshita is out. One, two. Don Callis pulls out the referee. Ospreay drags
18:10Callis furiously into the ring and sets him up for the tiger driver but he's taken out by a mysterious
18:15hooded man from behind. It's Kyle Fletcher, not his friend. Kyle Fletcher nails Ospreay in the back of the
18:22head with the screwdriver and Takeshita finishes the champion off. The referee is thrown back in the
18:28ring. One, two, three and Konosuke Takeshita is the international champion. But the bad news for Ospreay
18:34doesn't stop there as Fletcher scoops him up and drops him with the tiger driver and now, well, it looks
18:42like Fletcher, it looks like Fletcher's a heel. Sorry, I don't know what I'm saying. He is clearly a heel now
18:46and I'm just very exhausted. On with the show!
18:51Backstage, Orange Cassidy ends up in a conversation with Jerry Lynn who tells Cassidy that if he really
18:57tried, he could be the man in AEW. Hook stops by and agrees with Jerry, which is interesting.
19:03Next up, we get the return of Swerve Strickland who is accompanied, of course, by Prince Nana and gets
19:08a huge reception from his hometown crowd. Swerve gets on the mic and says he's banged up pretty bad
19:13after that match with Hangman Page. It's like everything he said about Bryan Danielson's body
19:17is now happening to his own body. With that said, though, he is medically cleared and the crowd are
19:22very happy to hear that. However, Swerve is interrupted by MVP and Shelton Benjamin. MVP gets
19:28on the mic and says Swerve needs to think very carefully about his future. He talks about their
19:31history, saying that he believed in Strickland back when nobody did and gives Swerve credit for
19:36his success in AEW, but says now he's floundering and needs the right kind of guidance to be a true
19:41great and to get back to the top of the mountain. Swerve asks if MVP remembers the match they had
19:46back in Defy Wrestling. Nice shout out for the Northwestern States-based promotion Defy, and it
19:51gets a big pop from the crowd, of course. Swerve says that people like MVP and Shelton Benjamin
19:55inspired him, crediting Shelton especially for being an inspiration to black wrestlers everywhere.
20:01Swerve admits that MVP is right about some things. He lost his title, he lost his childhood home,
20:05and this all happened under Prince Nana's watch. But on the other hand, he wouldn't have had all those
20:10things in the first place if it wasn't for Nana, and Nana looks relieved to hear this. But on the
20:14other hand, Swerve turns back to MVP and says, hey me and you go way back, and the potential we have
20:20together is huge. Nana is worried again, Swerve criticizes his manager's character, says sometimes
20:25he finds him annoying, sometimes he still sells weed to high school kids in the parking lot of hotels.
20:29But more than all of that, and he pauses for dramatic effect, Prince Nana is family. Swerve gets in
20:35MVP's face and says he doesn't turn his back on family, so MVP can shove his offer up his ass.
20:41Sheldon gets in Swerve's face and says, maybe you've got this wrong. We weren't offering anything,
20:45we were telling you, you need us, so you're either with us or against us. Swerve doesn't like this,
20:50he and Shelton get into a scuffle, but Christopher Daniels and officials run out to separate them.
20:54MVP tries to calm Shelton down and takes him up the ramp, and the crowd chant for Swerve.
20:59Interesting developments, no debuts yet, but I know who everyone thought was going to appear in this segment.
21:05Next up, it is the two out of three falls match between Hologram and the beast Mortos.
21:12Good lucha things to start with an exchange of increasingly impressive arm drags.
21:16Hologram backflips off Mortos' shoulders and nails a superkick before flying to the outside
21:21with quite a scary headfirst dive, but Mortos is there to catch him and take the move.
21:26Back inside, Mortos hits a huge pop-up Samoan drop, but only gets two.
21:30Hologram hits a Tehera off the top and dives into a crucifix bomb, and that's enough for the first fall.
21:35At the start of the second fall, Mortos hits a huge shoulder block to send Hologram out of the ring,
21:39followed by a spinning dive to the outside.
21:41What a freak athlete Mortos is.
21:43He follows this up with a big press slam onto the ramp, and Hologram is hurt.
21:46Back inside, Mortos suplexes Hologram into the corner, hits a running tackle to the midsection,
21:51and goes for a second one, but Hologram moves and nails a moonsault to the outside,
21:55where he may have hurt his leg, but he's good to carry on the match.
21:58Back in the ring, they almost mess up a Poison Rana, or it looks like they're going to mess it up,
22:03maybe deliberately. Hologram manages to get it anyway, and it looks really good.
22:06Mortos regains control and chains a couple of big moves together,
22:10ending with a big discus lariat, and this evens things up at one fall apiece.
22:14Mortos hits another discus clothesline straight away to begin the final fall, fair enough,
22:18but this time Hologram is able to kick out.
22:20They head up top, where Mortos wants an avalanche, something scary, off his shoulders,
22:25but Hologram reverses it into another Tehera.
22:27Hologram gets back up on the shoulders of Mortos on the apron to hit another Poison Rana,
22:32followed by heading up top and hitting a huge tightrope senton to the outside.
22:36Back in the ring, Hologram hits a double stomp from the top,
22:38and then goes back up again for a 450 attempt, but he only gets knees.
22:42Mortos charges at Hologram, but Hologram counters into a Spanish fly,
22:46but then Mortos gets back up and nails a desperation lariat, and both men are down.
22:50They both obviously head back up top again,
22:52where Mortos hits a top rope press slam, but it only gets two.
22:55Mortos goes back to the same combination that ended the second fall,
22:59but this time Hologram is able to kick out.
23:01Again, they go back up top, where Mortos takes a big Hurricanrana,
23:05followed by a tightrope dive into a crucifix bomb.
23:08That is also only a near fall, can you believe it guys?
23:11Hologram hoists Mortos up on his shoulders,
23:13and hits the much bigger man with a portal bomb for the win.
23:17This was a longer match than I thought it was going to be,
23:19and they both really left it all in the ring,
23:22and outside of the ring, and off the top rope, and everywhere.
23:24The announced team make a big deal of Hologram's undefeated streak so far,
23:28which stands at 15-0.
23:32The next match is Washington State favourite, Darby Allen, versus Brodie King.
23:38Darby gets sent over the top rope hard to the outside early on,
23:41and Brodie just lifts him up by his shorts,
23:44and slings him into the crowd barricade.
23:45Brodie sets up the ring steps, but Darby tries to dive onto him,
23:48only to get caught in mid-air, and dropped with a big chop to the chest.
23:52Brodie tries to whip Darby into the steps, but he dives nimbly over the top of them,
23:56and comes back at Brodie, running up the steps,
23:59only to be knocked out of the air with a brutal forearm.
24:01Brodie puts the steps on top of Darby, and crushes him beneath them,
24:05walking on top of them, and taunting the crowd.
24:08Oh, you nasty man.
24:09Brodie presses the advantage back inside the ring, with some heavy chops,
24:12followed by an attempted cannonball, but Darby gets out of the way.
24:15Allen follows this up with a couple of quick dives to the outside,
24:18and a coffin drop. He's not wasting any time.
24:21Back inside, Darby applies a sleeper to Brodie on the apron,
24:24which Brodie has, of course, previously used to beat Darby himself.
24:28Brodie gets out of his own move, though,
24:29falling backwards to drive himself and Darby beneath him into the apron.
24:34Now Brodie applies the sleeper, hanging Darby in mid-air over the top rope,
24:38but he has to break it, of course, before the referee's count of five.
24:41Still, Darby looks to be in trouble, and Brodie hits him with several more hard chops,
24:45but Darby defiantly keeps getting back to his feet.
24:48Darby looks for a springboard coffin drop, but Brodie catches him in mid-air and applies another
24:52sleeper. Darby manages to scramble to the ropes, so Brodie instead chops him in the back and hits
24:57a German suplex, followed by another German, this time from the apron, and a third and final big
25:03German all the way from the top rope.
25:05Back to the apron they go, where Brodie wants to deadlift suplex Darby all the way down onto the
25:10ring steps at ringside, but Darby fights out of it and pushes Brodie backwards into the nasty fall
25:16instead. Now Darby Allen is of course Darby Allen, so obviously he heads up top and hits the coffin
25:21drop down onto the ring steps as well to follow up. Brodie narrowly beats the count back into the
25:26ring, but Darby hits an immediate coffin drop to the back and picks up the win. They do a handshake
25:33afterwards though, which is very nice to see, which could possibly signify a breakaway from the House of
25:39Black for Brodie King, but on commentary they kind of make a point of like, Brodie there proudly
25:44representing the House of Black, so I don't know if that is a certainty.
25:49Next up, some very strange booking in my opinion, in the tag team title match, the Young Bucks
25:54defending against Private Party. Right, so heading into this, I would have predicted that the Bucks
25:59would win, but there are so many signs before and during this match that there's going to be a title
26:04change. Let's have a look at some of the early ones. Private Party come out second despite being
26:07the challengers. We get a special Private Party video package featuring the amazing Red, who gives
26:12them a fiery pep talk and says, listen, no more partying. It's time to get serious. It's time to
26:17actually win. And then back to the ring, the Bucks get on the mic before the bell and Matthew says,
26:22okay, blah, blah, blah. You beat us five years ago, but what have you done since? What makes you think
26:26you're on our level? You're just a mid-card act and you'll never get the tag team titles. Now that to me
26:33all seems like signs that Private Party are going to win. So let's see if they do. Private Party interrupt the
26:39Bucks promo and slap them in the face. So the champions bail to the outside and threaten to
26:43walk out of the match. So the challengers chase them down, but oh, it's just a trick. And they
26:47get hit with super kicks on the ramp. The match still hasn't officially begun as Cassidy turns the
26:51tide on the ramp and then Mark Quen swantons off the entrance tunnel onto everybody below. Back in the
26:56rain, Cassidy goes for an immediate pinfall as the match begins, but Nicholas Jackson kicks out.
27:01The Bucks fight back, but Quen redirects a super kick from one Buck into the other on the outside,
27:05and then Cassidy flies to the outside with a spinning torneo onto both champions. The Bucks
27:10take control for a while as the announced team talk about there being some truth to the heel's words
27:14about Private Party's lack of success. Surely that means there's going to be a title change,
27:18right? Cassidy fights back with a double dropkick to both champions and hits a dive to the outside
27:22as commentary now talk about Cassidy wearing the same shoes that he wore five years ago when they
27:27beat the Bucks in the early days of AEW. Surely there's going to be a title change, right? It's worth
27:31mentioning at this point that we also see Top Flight and Layla Gray watching the match
27:35from the crowd, and Stokely Hathaway, who Private Party rejected as a manager very recently on TV,
27:41of course. Cassidy, meanwhile, avoids an X-Factor and springboards backwards into one of his own,
27:45like a face buster X-Factor type thing, but it only gets two. Private Party look to hit the silly
27:50string, which Nicholas avoids, so they do it to the outside instead onto Matthew, but Nicholas
27:54follows up with a step-up dive onto both babyfaces. Nicholas takes out Quen in the crowd and looks to hit
27:59the TK driver on Cassidy back into the ringside area, but the challenger manages to avoid it,
28:04so Nicholas hits Cassidy with a Canadian Destroyer instead, but Quen gets revenge for
28:08his partner with a 450 splash instantly off the crowd barricade. Back in the ring, Nicholas talks
28:12some trash to Zay, who snaps and beats him down. They then both fight up top, where Nicholas hits
28:17a super cutter, but Cassidy kicks out at two. The Bucks go for the TK driver, but Quen drags
28:22Nicholas off the apron as Cassidy rolls up Matthew in the ring, the same spot that had Private Party
28:27originally beat the Bucks back then, but this time it's only a near four. Quen gets the tag,
28:31but the Bucks retake control of the match and nail a double superkick. They then want to hit
28:35more bang for your buck, but Isaiah Cassidy saves the day, and the challengers hit Gin and Juice
28:39out of the corner, and the crowd think it could be the finish, but only gets two. The challengers
28:43then hit some superkicks of their own, and then they hit more bang for your buck on the Bucks.
28:48Cassidy makes the cover, but Matthew Jackson breaks up the pinfall just in time. The Bucks then
28:52cause a miscommunication between the challengers, which leads to one hitting a poison runner on the
28:56other, which is quite a miscommunication, it must be said. The EVP trigger connects on Isaiah Cassidy,
29:02but he kicks out of it, and the crowd pop huge. The Bucks though are still in control,
29:06they hit a superkick into a German suplex kind of combo on Mark Quen, who lands nastily on the
29:11outside. Cassidy avoids a second EVP trigger in the ring, and the Bucks hit each other, but a subsequent
29:16roll-up only gets two for the challenger. He fires up and beats the Bucks down, but he's too hurt to
29:22keep it up. The Bucks hook him up for the TK driver and nail it. One, two, three. Right then.
29:29We see Stokely and the crowd looking very smug, of course, because Private Party couldn't get it done
29:33after they rejected his help. Private Party commiserate with each other in the ring, and is
29:37there a possible breakup coming? Not tonight, because the segment just ends. And that's where I
29:42think it's interesting. I don't agree with the idea of hyping up Private Party, they've got to win
29:46this match, otherwise they're failures, and then having them lose the match anyway. But it could lead to
29:51a breakup down the line, maybe a push up the card for one or both of them. I don't know. But just
29:56watching this match, you know, it was a little bit frustrating. At the same time, though, before this
30:01show, I would have thought of the Bucks as huge favourites. It was only all the build-up to the
30:04immediate match on the night-to-night, which made me think it could go another way. And then it didn't.
30:09So, I don't know. Leave your opinions on this one in the comments below. Very interesting booking decision.
30:14Next up is the Ring of Honor World Title match, with Mark Briscoe defending against Chris Jericho,
30:22who of course had some very disrespectful things to say about Mark and his brother Jay. Mark starts
30:28off hot, but Jericho hits a quick codebreaker, only for Mark Briscoe to kick out at one. A chair is
30:33involved, with Mark trying to use it for his dive to the outside, but it gets taken away, so he just
30:38dives without using it anyway, leaping from the apron onto Jericho and Big Bill at ringside.
30:43Jericho, though, distracts the ref while Big Bill attacks Mark on the outside of the ring. He sets
30:48up Briscoe to go through a table leaned against the crowd barricade, but Orange Cassidy's out to hit
30:53Bill with several orange punches and batter him to the back. Mark and Jericho end up on the apron and
30:58both crash to the outside, with Mark getting the worst of it. Jericho then does his ringside beatdown
31:03stuff, taking the ring camera from the camera operator and all that good heelishness.
31:07He stays on top back inside with a hurricanrana from the top, but now Mark starts to fire up with
31:12his knife-edged strikes, and a fisherman's buster, but it only gets two. Jericho gets back in control
31:17and locks in the walls of Jericho, but Mark slowly makes it to the ropes. However, as he leans through
31:23the ropes, Jericho distracts the ref again, and hears Brian Keith to nail Mark with a bat, but Mark
31:28kicks out of Jericho's pinfall attempt. Before it was Orange Cassidy, and now Rocky Romero heads out
31:33to brawl with Brian Keith to the back, as Jericho back in the ring tries to use a chair, but
31:37Mark knocks him to the outside, and now is able to use the chair for his dive onto the challenger,
31:43and sent him through that table from earlier on. Back in the ring, Mark goes for the froggy bow,
31:47but Jericho counters into a mid-air codebreaker for another near fall. Jericho misses the Judas
31:52effect, and Mark hooks him up for the Jay Driller, in honour of Jay Briscoe, of course, but Jericho gets
31:57out of it, and nails the Judas effect after all. Mark is down and out, but Jericho doesn't make the cover,
32:02instead he gets an evil idea, and hits Mark with his brother's finisher, and Mark, of course,
32:09kicks out before the count of three. Thank God. Jericho hits some right hands, which obviously
32:14cannot stop Mark from firing up now, and we're into the closing stretch. Briscoe hits the Death
32:19Valley driver, and the froggy bow, and of course, also doesn't make the cover, instead hitting the Jay
32:25Driller, nailing Jericho with it, and making the winning pinfall. Mark Briscoe is still the Ring of
32:31Honour World Champion. And finally, it's time for the main event. Brian Danielson defending the AEW
32:40World Championship against Jon Moxley. Moxley attacks Danielson during his pose on the turnbuckles,
32:46and they brawl to the outside, where Brian fights back with the final countdown still playing. Moxley
32:51chokes out Brian with a cable, but Danielson manages to grab the ring announcer's microphone
32:54and uses it to fight back. Marina Shafir jumps on Brian's back, but he shakes her off, only to run
32:59into a big clothesline from Moxley, who grabs a chair. Back in the ring, though, Brian hits a
33:03running knee, sending the chair into Moxley's head, and now the match is ready to begin.
33:08Brian wastes no time as the bell rings, attacking a recovering Moxley in the corner, but Moxley
33:13has that, you know, the Brian step-up backflip off the top turnbuckle scouted, but Brian still
33:18lands on his feet and hits another Basaiku knee, but Moxley kicks out. Brian presses the advantage
33:23with a couple of dives to the outside and lays in the yes kicks on top of the Spanish announce table.
33:28Moxley hits a thumb to the eye, though, and pile drives Brian onto the table, which doesn't give
33:33an inch. Moxley goes back to using the cable, only stopping before the ref can DQ him. He also swipes
33:38Nigel McGuinness' headset off, and Nigel looks really sad about that. Back in the ring, Moxley takes the
33:44ref away, while Marina Shafir lays in some knees to the head of Brian from the outside. Moxley lays in
33:49some Brian-esque stomps to the head of the champion, and then works over the neck, and flips off the crowd,
33:54and then takes the ref again, and Marina hits some more knees. This is the heel beat down section.
34:00Moxley wrenches the fingers of Brian, and then directs Marina to pull up a big section of the
34:05padding on the outside of the ring. Moxley sets up for a piledriver on the exposed floor, but Brian
34:10backdrops him out of it. They head up top, where Moxley tears off some of the medical tape and bites
34:15Brian, but Brian manages to drop back down to the canvas and bites Moxley back. The challenger ends up in
34:20the tree of woe, where Brian hits a running dropkick, and then a released German superplex from the top.
34:25He goes for the diving headbutt, but Moxley moves and hits the curb stomp, but Brian kicks out at two.
34:30Moxley locks in the bulldog choke, but Brian gets out of it and returns the favor from earlier with a
34:35piledriver of his own, but he's too weak to make the cover. Both men slowly get to their feet, and
34:40Brian is wobbly, but still hyping up the crowd who are fully on his side. Brian wants a strike exchange,
34:46and Moxley obliges. They exchange forearms, Moxley wins, Brian is down to his knees, but then he
34:51catches a running boot and fires back at Moxley with some uppercuts and a big clothesline. Brian
34:56hits the yes kicks, following up with a big kick to the head, and then another Busaiku knee attempt,
35:01but Marina grabs his leg before he can do so, and Moxley recovers enough to hit a cutter.
35:07Meanwhile, the referee ejects Marina from ringside, and then Moxley goes for the death rider,
35:11but Brian gets out of it and hits another Busaiku knee, but again, it's not enough to put
35:16Moxley away. The crowd at this point do Brian's old ring of honour chant, which I can't repeat word
35:20for word here because of swearing, but he listens to their instructions and does kick Moxley's head
35:26in before locking in the labelle lock. John thinks about tapping out, but he claws his way to the
35:30bottom rope and reaches with his free hand. Brian grabs the free hand, so Moxley sticks out a boot
35:35instead to break the hull. Moxley bails to the outside where Brian tries to follow him with a dive,
35:40but Moxley catches him and hits the death rider on the exposed floor. He rolls the champion back
35:46inside and makes the cover, but Brian kicks out. Moxley has had enough and hammers Brian with some
35:51elbows to the head before locking in a sleeper hold. Brian powers slowly up to his feet and
35:56climbs a corner of the ring with Moxley on his back, falling backwards into the ring to break
36:01the hold. He again goes for the labelle lock, but Moxley slips out of it and goes for a couple of his
36:05own submissions, but Brian's too nimble and gets out and hits a back suplex. Moxley no-sells it and
36:11stands up into a Busaiku knee. One, two, and again Moxley kicks out. Brian looks for one last big
36:18knee, but Moxley counters with a lariat and a second lariat, but now Brian kicks out. Moxley
36:24has had enough for real this time and calls for the end and hits the death rider and Brian kicks
36:29out at one and the crowd come alive. John has some trash talk for Brian saying, don't make me do it
36:34this way. And of course, Brian spits in his face and slaps him defiantly, only to get hooked up and
36:39dropped with a gotch style pile driver, followed by an instant transition into another sleeper hold.
36:44Brian struggles and reaches for the ropes and gets to his feet, but he can't make it and he fades
36:51and falls back with Moxley and Brian Danielson's unconscious. He's out and the referee calls for
36:57the bell and the crowd cannot believe it. This is, I mean, whether or not you agree with the booking
37:03decision, this is an all-time deflated crowd reaction. Up there with Taker versus Lesnar at
37:09WrestleMania 30 and up there with, I guess in AEW's history, MJF beating Punk in Chicago. The crowd are
37:15devastated. Understandably, by the way, Marina Shafir comes back out, followed by Claudio Castagnoli
37:19and Pac. They interestingly don't celebrate with the belt, instead just putting it in a bag and depriving
37:26us of that image. They look to attack Brian with the plastic bag again, but here come Wina Yuta and
37:31Darby Allen running out to make the save and chasing the heels out of the ring. However, Wheeler Yuta
37:37drops Darby with a running knee and realigns with the group. Wheeler looks conflicted at first, but Moxley
37:43hands him the plastic bag and says, you do it. And Wheeler does, choking Brian with the plastic bag instead.
37:49Meanwhile, Darby is tied to the ropes. He can't help. So security run out to try and stop the attack
37:54instead. They do stop the plastic bag attack, but the heels beat up security and look to continue
37:59attacking Brian. So various babyfaces try as well. Private Party and Jeff Jarrett, for example,
38:04but they get fought off too by this heel group. Moxley puts a chair on Brian's neck and Claudio runs and
38:10stomps it on his head. A big group of faces now run out and finally the heels leave, but it's not
38:16portrayed as like a heroic charge to save the day. The damage has already been done. It's sort of meant
38:21to be like a desperate attempt to stop this attack, even though it's too late. Brian is loaded onto a
38:27stretcher as the crowd chant. Thank you, Brian. And the last images of the show are of various
38:32babyfaces, including the likes of Darby Island and Orange Cassidy looking absolutely devastated
38:38at ringside. It's an interesting end to the show. I'll give them that. And I think in my opinion,
38:44anyway, a fantastic main event to cap off what was a show full of, full of great wrestling. But what do
38:49you think? Let me know in that comment section down below. And thank you very much for watching.
38:54I've been Jack from Cultaholic. Thank you to Owen and Pierce for their tremendous effort editing
38:57what I think is the most relentless what happened art we've ever had to do. The action was truly
39:03nonstop. And yeah, thanks for watching once again, and I'll see you very soon.
