00:00He's an angel. I'm no angel. He's an angel.
00:10You know, when Keanu's name came up, they were like,
00:14hey, what about Keanu? And I was like, Keanu Thompson?
00:16Who are you talking about? There's no way Keanu Reeves
00:19is a possibility, right? They're like, no, he'll be with you.
00:24And I was like, that's incredible. And I told you the story
00:28the night before we met. I looked at the script
00:31and I was kind of reading it with Keanu voice in my head
00:34and it really made me laugh. And I revisited his films
00:38and went back to the comedies like Bill and Ted
00:41and Parenthood. And I saw Keanu's performances
00:45in those and I was like, oh, whoa, he could really knock this out of the park.
00:49He'd be perfect for this. And we had a meeting and we got along well
00:52and Keanu read the script and it somehow
00:55came together and now we're sitting here doing junkets.
00:58It's, what a life.
01:00I thought it was so lovely. I thought that the journey of the character is very sweet
01:24and something that I think people can relate to in a way of just, you know, wanting to do more
01:31and to be better and be in the circumstances that they're in
01:36and try and kind of improve them.
01:39And I think that motif is throughout all of the characters in the film
01:43and I think it's a really cool message and entertaining
01:48and it was done in such a fun way.
01:50I always wrote the movie thinking about L.A.
02:00I was spending time in L.A. when I was writing the movie
02:03and, you know, shooting in L.A., it's difficult
02:06but you get the best technicians in the world
02:10and if you can pull it off, it's such a beautiful place to be able to film
02:14and it's definitely a love letter to L.A. of sorts and a specific L.A.
02:20the places we chose to shoot and everything
02:22there were specific neighborhoods we wanted to highlight
02:25and, yeah, I feel really fortunate we were able to film in L.A.
02:29and I had a great time.
02:30Yeah, I mean, he's trying to be a better person
02:33and trying to be and help.
02:36Probably Gabriel's probably, you know, he's an angel.
02:39I'm no angel. He's an angel.
02:41Yeah, and when you look back at older films from the 30s and 40s
02:46when there were similar issues of wealth inequality
02:49and class issues, there were a lot of films that dealt with it
02:53with comedy, movies like Sullivan's Travels
02:56or My Man Godfrey or It's Wonderful Life
02:58and so the idea of taking that kind of movie
03:01and making it with today
03:02and, you know, the specifics of today
03:06felt like a fun world.
03:11So sweet.
03:16So sweet.
03:18Yeah, and all the cameras over there.
03:20Yeah, and all the cameras over there.
03:22That's great.
03:24That's his son of a ghost.
03:26Yeah.
03:27Task rabbit I couldn't do
03:28because I couldn't go into someone's house
03:30and put together their desk.
03:31They'd be like, you're Aziz.
03:32What are you doing?
03:33But DoorDash I could do
03:34because you don't often interact with people.
03:36And so I did DoorDash with this guy for a day
03:39and that helped me write the scene
03:40where Seth Rogen's character with him goes and does DoorDash.
03:46Do you think you'd be good at TaskRabbit
03:48if you were down on your luck, so to speak?
03:51I would probably call another TaskRabbit
03:53to come do the task for me
03:55because I'm not good at any of that stuff.
03:58What about you, Keanu?
03:59No, I'm not the person.
04:00I'm not the person.
