00:00In the late 1980s, Tokyo ran in a different year.
00:05The streets were filled with shiny new cars,
00:07businesses were popping up in every inch of the city.
00:10It felt like everyone was making more and more money,
00:12and the real estate and stock markets
00:14started to reach new dimensions.
00:16People were dressed in the latest fashion,
00:18ate out at fancy restaurants,
00:19and drank fine liquors from all around the world.
00:21And the Japanese made a big fortune with exports, too.
00:24From Walkmans, first cell phones, to portable computers,
00:27they seemed to be light years ahead of the rest of the world.
00:30But it wasn't just the gadgets that were blowing everybody's mind,
00:33it was the whole economic drive of the country.
00:36Tokyo was full of money-hungry businessmen,
00:38everyone was filling up their pockets,
00:40and business had its own rules.
00:42Just like a disease,
00:44the money mania spread to every corner of the city,
00:47and the only real question was,
00:49how sick were you willing to get?
